Chapter 277: Face like a demon’s and endless regret

Trantor: imperfectluck Editor: Kurisu
No matter if you were a doctor or patient, it would always good to be young. Being young meant infinite possibility and infinite hope. Although Zhang Fan was tired after performing surgery for more than 10 hours already, he was still capable of going on for another 10 hours.
Meanwhile, Director Zhao and Vice Director Song were having a much harder time after working for 10 hours as both of them were already past 50 years of age. Both of them were no longer able to control their legs at all. They were only still standing up by relying on the leg bones! Both of them were very stubborn and unwilling to concede defeat to their age! In hospitals, especiallyrger hospitals, almost all of the most skilled doctors would always be the really stubborn type who hated giving up.
The medical field was really ridiculous like this. Anyone who wasn’t willing to be vicious to themselves would be unable to reach the highest level of medical skill.
Zhang Fan finished the sutures and repairs in the patient’s abdomen perfectly and beautifully. “ce the drainage tube,” Zhang Fan told his surgical assistants after he finished his final confirmation that everything in the abdomen was alright now.
With the teenaged girl’s injuries, there was no need to bore a hole into her for cing a drainage tube, as her stomach was already filled with holes from the tree branches! In the future, it would be imusible for her to wear sexy clothing that revealed her stomach as she would have massive permanent scarring all over her stomach.
The teenaged girl’s abdomen injuries had been the most serious, which was why that was the first part of the surgery on her. However, she had truly been lucky. The tree branches had poked a trulyrge number of holes in her. If any of the tree branches had gone slightly upwards or diagonally, they would have prated the liver or kidney, which would have killed her instead. Maybe the heavens felt that she hadn’tmitted much sin, so they gave her another chance while delivering a powerful p to her face.
Now that the abdomen portion of the surgery wasplete, her life was no longer in danger, so the remaining part of the surgery wasn’t as urgent. Zhang Fan began surgery on her chest in tandem with cardiothoracic Director Liu who also joined in the surgery at this time. Meanwhile, orthopedic surgery Director Gao, who had also joined in this surgery now, would perform surgery on both of the patient’s shattered legs together with Vice Director Song and Director Zhao at the same time.
Since the teenaged girl was in the third year of middle school, she was currently in the middle of puberty. Her secondary sex characteristics had already developed, but her chest had been copsed by the force of the impact from the ident. The motorcycle she was on had been going far too fast. Even though the tree branches helped to mitigate arge amount of the impact, her rib bones and both her legs had been shattered severely.
Rib bones were originally small curved hollow bones, but the patient’s rib bones had been smashed into three or four pieces each!
“Just what exactly was this patient doing to have suffered such severe injuries?” Director Gao remarked as he worked on putting the patient’s leg bones together.
Things were no longer urgent at all for the patient. Although her bones had been shattered severely, it would be possible to put them together again. When it came to reconnecting bone fractures, especially for internally affixed bones, it really would be quite simr to putting a jigsaw puzzle together. Director Gao was currently measuring arge piece of bone that had been separated in order to identify its proper position!
“I heard that she was participating in a motorcycle race on Binhe Road. Many youngsters were having a motorcycle race. They were driving far too quickly, and ended up crashing into a bystander, who was the old patient in the operating room next door. Six motorcycles and 12 youngsters were involved in the ident. Only this youngdy and the old man survived!” The operating head nurse immediately told the doctors about the gossip that she had heard already.
“Wow, the old man’s really lucky to have survived!” the anesthesiologist eximed.
“Indeed, he is. It must not be easy for him if he’s working as a street sweeper in the middle of the night! He didn’t even have a single family member to sign paperwork for him at the hospital.” The operating room head nurse was in her mid-30s, yet she was doing her best to pretend to be silly and sweet! Her sess was obviously because of her own talents. Chasu City Hospital had over 1,000 nurses, yet she had been chosen to be the operating room head nurse for a reason.
The rib bones were rtively fragilepared to other bones in the human body. Rib bones really could be described as being of shoddy qualitypared to other bones. Not only were rib bones not very hard, their bone density was light, and arge portion of rib bones would be trabecr bone, which was really porous.
Surgery wasn’t actually even necessary for ordinary rib bone fractures. They were capable of fixing themselves over time with only the help of a sling. Or, as long as the patient’s skin wasn’t allergic to it, duct tape could also help affix the rib bone from through the skin. However, that wouldn’t work for the teenaged girl, because her rib bones had shattered far too severely.
Director Gao was putting the leg bones together, while Zhang Fan started affixing metal tes in the patient’s chest. Rib bone fixation was rather simple as the skin on the chest was rather thin, especially on a teenaged girl’s chest. It would be quite easy to reach the rib bone right after opening up the skin.
Zhang Fan affixed one metal te, then another, and then another. In the end, he affixed more than 10 metal tes on her rib bones. Metal tes for rib bones were quite simple. They would resemble many staplesbined together. The staple-shaped metal te would then solidly piece two shattered parts of rib bone together!
Zhang Fan finished the chest surgery portion for the patient. However, the other doctors still hadn’t finished surgery for the patient’s legs. Director Zhao and Vice Director Song were only persisting through sheer stubbornness as they hadn’t gotten any rest at all, which was harder on them as they were older.
“Directors, you should get some rest. It’s already nighttime. We’ve been working on this surgery for an entire day,” Zhang Fan told them.
“It’s fine! Victory onlyes with persistence!” The two directors could no longer even sense their legs, but they were still being stubborn! That was just how they were!
By this time, the teenaged girl’s mother and uncle were in a state of shock from how long the surgery was taking. The mother still wanted to cry, but she was already out of tears. The uncle felt really awkward and didn’t know what to do!
Still, the girl’s uncle, Vice President Chen, was a rtively powerful and influential figure in Chasu City. He managed to learn some more in just a little while. “Sigh! We were wrong! We didn’t understand Superintendent Ouyang’s intentions!”
“What is it?” the mother asked rather listlessly.
“The young doctor that we looked down upon was actually the best surgeon in all of Chasu City Hospital! Superintendent Ouyang had intentionally arranged the best doctor for our Yaya, but... Sigh!” Vice President Chen regretfully squeezed his own face which had be rather stiff from the long wait.
“Aaah!” The mother was already having a difficult time due to her daughter’s condition. This news made her break down entirely. She softly leaned against the wall as she gradually sat down on the floor. Even though she was wearing clothes which indicated that she was obviously wealthy, she was now sitting on the floor outside the operating room in such a haphazard manner.
“Brother! Think of something! Have him perform surgery on Yaya!”
“It’s no use right now even if I was the president of mypany! Sigh! If only I had known!” Neither of the two knew that Zhang Fan had actually gone over to perform surgery on the teenaged girl regardless of their request for Director Zhao to perform the surgery!
“Yaya, why is life so hard on you!?” The mother felt like her heart was shattering!
“Stop crying! They’re performing surgery inside! Do you have any sense at all!? If you want to cry, go as far away as you possibly can!” A young nurse emerged from the operating room and loudly scolded the mother! Out of all the nurses in the hospital, the operating room nurses would have the worst temper! The mother covered her mouth, but continued to cry soundlessly!
Zhang Fan and the other doctors now finished repairing all the bones in the patient’s legs. The veryst part of the surgery was to deal with the physical injuries on the patient’s face as these were the lightest injuries. However, maybe these injuries would be worse than taking the patient’s life away as like most teenaged girls, she really cared about her looks!
Her skin had been cut open on her cheeks, chin, and all over her forehead. The red muscle under the skin was already exposed as if countless tiny mouths had sprouted on her face. Zhang Fan disinfected all of the damaged muscle which had been ruined by the sharp ss shards of her motorcycle helmet.
No matter how Zhang Fan sewed things up, it would definitely leave permanent scars. Zhang Fan hadn’t hesitated at all when it came to the patient’s incredibly serious abdominal injuries, nor had he hesitated one bit when facing the patient’s rib bones which had shattered into tiny fragments. Of course, he didn’t slow down at all when dealing with the patient’s shattered leg bones, either.
Yet, Zhang Fan really hesitated over these numerous tiny injuries on the patient’s face. What could he do about suturing these injuries up? Earlier, he was busy saving the patient’s life, so he hadn’t had the time to bother about her face. Now that her life was definitely saved, Zhang Fan felt really helpless about her face.
This girl was probably only a few years younger than his own younger sister Jingshu. The patient was originally youthful and beautiful. How was she supposed to face life and other people now with a face filled with scars?
“Director Zhang, there’s no helping it. Let’s sew up the injuries immediately. Suturing the injuries faster might at least help the skin to heal with a slightly better appearance!” Vice Director Songmented because he saw how hesitant Zhang Fan was being.
“Sew! It’s her own fault for doing what she did. She’s quite lucky already to have survived! Use a small curved needle to sew things slowly!” Although Director Zhao sounded like he was being really harsh, the fact that he had chosen a small curved needle had already exposed the fact that he had a soft heart.
“Sigh!” Zhang Fan could only sigh. He really was helpless as a doctor here. No matter how amazing his medical skills were now, there was still a limit to what he could do!
Zhang Fan could imagine already that this girl’s face would resemble a demon’s face in the future. Her future life would obviously be quite cruel just because of this alone. Maybe this was a p in the face that the heavens had delivered to her! What a vicious p it was!
Finally, Zhang Fanpletely finished the surgery on the teenaged girl, approximately 16 hours after the beginning of this surgery.
