C31 – The Anxious School Leaders


    “Do you even realize what you’re saying?”


    Mi Hongbo’s gaze bore into Lu Lixing, his face dark with fury. If Lu Lixing were to actually make it onto the Hidden Dragon tform, it wouldn’t just spell disaster for him; the entirety of Skyhaven’s Forest Lake Academy would be doomed! The school board would certainly not let him off the hook.

    In stark contrast to thecent school officials, Principal Mi Hongbo was filled with resentment. Leaving Forest Lake Academy meant a future of subservience and constraints.     “Lu, if you believe the school has treated you unfairly, let’s try this: I will, as principal, grant you an exception to retake the qualification test. The entire process will be broadcast live on the Crystal Screen, ensuring that all eyes are on us. With such transparency, any attempt to disadvantage you would be impossible. This should guarantee the fairness and integrity of the test. What do you say?”


    “However, to prevent any possibility of the answers being leaked to you, we’re going to switch to a different set of questions with an equivalent level of difficulty. If you’re not okay with that, then there’s really nothing more we can do.”


    Mi Hongbo’s decision to change the test was strategic; even if Lu Lixing scored highly, he could attribute it to Lu’s familiarity with the test material, deflecting any suspicions. As long as Lu Lixing didn’t have a death wish, he’d understand the choice he needed to make.


    As for the embarrassment Mi Hongbo suffered this time, he knew there would be ample opportunities to redeem himself in the future.


    With these thoughts, Mi Hongbo’s expectant gaze fell on Lu Lixing, awaiting his decision. This was the greatestpromise he was willing to offer.
