Chapter 3: Lottery (1)

In the kitchen, Li Rou had beaten two eggs in a bowl and was about to fry an omelette.

The frying pan was screeching hot as Li Rou had left it heated on the stove for quite some time.

This was because she hadpreviously beenchecking the store on her mobile phone.

As sheemptied the contents of the bowl into the frying pan, the egg mixture sizzled as steam was emitted.

She then generously seasoned the omelette with elegant shards of pepper and a hefty sprinkling of salt.

Curiously, every grain of salt appeared larger than normal. But Li Rou who was deeply engrossed in her phone, didnot payany attention to her own actions.

Li Rou was currently checking the remaining unexplored content left in the application, the lottery.

The lottery wheel was seperated into fifteen fractions. One of which was dazzinglyglamourous and made of gold, two were silver and five were bronze. The remaining few except for one, were all white. The last fractionhad multiple fractures and cracks on its surface and gave off a baleful aura when observed carefully.

Li Rou had a wealth of knowledge regarding mobile game gachapon and chance games. Afterall, she had splurged majority ofher entire life savings to get every male NPC in [Goddess’s World] wearing a topless outfit.

Based off past experiences, shewas certain the colours on the wheel pertained to the rarity of the reward obtained from the lottery wheel. Where thegold fraction obviously held the most valuable prize.

"This lottery is amazingly crass." Li Rou felt deeply offended. As the system stated, she was indeed leeching off her parents. This was not something she was particularly proud of. On the contrary, she simply brushed off the comment about her living off welfare checks.

Despite having had her imaginary self-esteem and confidence shattered, Li Rou decidedto attempt the lottery.

Reason being, her desired item costsat least a hundred times more than she had on hand.

In addition, slowly scrimping and savingpoints which she had no clue how to obtain was an absurd idea. Li Rouhad no clue how long it would possibly take to reach her goal.

Moreover, a lottery with unknown reward aroused her interest. She was easily captivated and had impulsively decided to try it out.

Li Rouwas armedwith basic mathematics that she had mastered over the course of primary education. With her trusty calculator in hermobile phone, Li Rou expended her blood, sweat and tears as she diligently calculated the probability of obtaining the golden reward. It was one in fifteen.     It took her quite some time to arrive at that answer despite her best efforts.

    ...

Li Rou hesitantly pressed the gigantic ‘Spin’ button on her phone. The lottery wherl started spinning, round andround the wheel goes… Justas it was about to land on the gold reward, the wheel suddenly gained momentumand landed on the white space beside it.

"This wheel is f*cking rigged!" Li Rou gasped in disbelief. The lottery wheel had not discreetly prevented her from winning the most valuable prize. It had F*CKING shifted itself just as it was about to landon gold! Didthe wheel really think that shewould not notice? Even an idiot could tell it was rigged.

Li Rou let out a sigh of disappointment as she hit the receive button on her phone. A holographic inventory screen suddenly popped out from nowhere. Within it, she saw a tiny vial inside as she proceededto interact with the screento obtain more information.

    Nothing happened.

Ignoring the system’s snide comment, Li Rou followed the advice given and mentally willed more details of the item to appear.

    </table>

    "Appear?"

Instantly, a tiny vial appeared in her hand and the Serum was no longer in the inventory screen.

Li Rou, stunned by what had just transpired, had almost dropped the vial.

Had the vial fall out of her hands, her heart would bleed as it had cost her 5,000 P. It was halfof what she had started with.

She attempted to storethe vial to her inventory, but there was no feedbackfrom the system. She was unable to put anything back into her inventory.

"This stupid f*cking system." Li Rou murmured in a low voice as she placed the vial in a cup to prevent it from falling over. She then placed the cup holding the vial on the kitchen counter.

As a whiff of smoke finally brought Li Rou’s attention back to the frying pan, black smoke was being emitted from the omelette.

Li Rou hastily flipped the omelette over. However, it was already too late as the omelette was already burnt on that side.

Regardless, she decided to eat the burnt omeletteas she could easily scrape the burnt bits off.

Although, the true reason was that she would be f*cking slaughtered by her parents if she wasted food while living like a leech.

After scraping the burnt bits away, she quickly took a bite. An overwhelming sweetness filled her mouth. She had accidentally used sugar instead of salt.

"No wonder the salt grains appeared larger than normal." Li Rou decisively spat out the partially chewed omelette.

By this moment, she had to make a toughdecision. To eat horrendously cooked food, or get slaughtered by her parents.

    ...

As Li Rou left the kitchen, the remains of an omelette could be seen the the dustbin.

    She had chosen the latter.
