314 A Strange Vige
When Chen Wei’er saw her husband putting away the camera, she came over and held his hand with a smile.
“Let’s gather the osmanthus now. I can’t wait!” she said.
The smell of osmanthus in the vige was potent. A person would feel as though he was surrounded by osmanthus. The ce was really worthy of its name, Osmanthus Vige!
The couple had only taken a few steps when they saw rows of osmanthus trees by the side of the road.
The small yellow flowers and green leaves were intertwined.
Chen Wei’er stood under the tree and smelled the scent of osmanthus. She felt rxed and happy.
The osmanthus trees here were about 3 to 4 meters tall. Chen Wei’er was barely able to reach the lowest branch on her tiptoes.
“Hubby, what should we do?” Chen Wei’er looked at He Xun for help.
He Xun walked to her side and gently pulled down the entire branch. “May I?”
Chen Wei’er was quite ecstatic that she was about to cry. “That’s too good!” However, as she collected, she said, “If I had known, I would have brought a small basket! This is too much…”
He Xun ruffled his wife’s hair. “This is enough. Don’t eat too much at once. If you want to eat more, we can collect some fresh ones.”
Chen Wei’er silently snorted twice. After stuffing her bag full, she picked out a few lovely osmanthus branches and held them up in front of He Xun while jumping around. “Let’s put them in vases. They’ll definitely smell good in the RV!”
“Don’t you think it’s fragrant enough now?” He Xun was a little surprised. The RV’s skylight had been open the whole time, and the smell of osmanthus was constantly drifting in.
“It’s nice!” Chen Wei’er shook the branch in her hand.
He Xun’s hand rubbed against her hair again. “It’s good that you like it.”
It seemed that Chen Wei’er really liked osmanthus. He Xun decided to nt an osmanthus tree in the courtyard for her once they returned.
Back in the RV, Chen Wei’er inserted the bundle of osmanthus in a disorderly manner. The bright yellow flowers embellished the White RV with a touch of light. She then found the rmendation letter that the vige chief had written for her and took it to find the vige chief of Osmanthus Vige.
After walking for a while, they finally saw the vigers. They eventually encountered an olddy carrying a small bamboo basket.
Chen Wei’er approached thedy and asked, “Hello, may I know how to reach the vige chief’s house?”
The olddy looked at Chen Wei’er and He Xun warily and replied coldly, “What are you guys doing here?”
Chen Wei’er was a little stunned. She felt that thedy’s hostile attitude wasn’t appropriate. But she didn’t think too much about it. She immediately suppressed the doubts in her heart and said gently, “We are here to travel. We know that the osmanthus here is extremely famous, so we came to have a look. I want to see your vige chief now and ask—”
Before Chen Wei’er could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by the olddy, because the guardedness in her eyes became even stronger, “No one has ever traveled here before! Who are you, people?”
Chen Wei’er nced at He Xun. He Xun pulled Chen Wei’er back and said to the olddy, “We have rtives in Anning. They said that the osmanthus here ismendable, so we came to have a look. We wanted to find someone to make some fresh osmanthus cakes.”
The olddy’s suspicious eyes swept over the two of them, and she pointed in a direction. “The chief’s house is over there.” After she finished speaking, she left in a hurry.
Chen Wei’er looked in the direction that the olddy was pointing at, and she couldn’t hold back her contempt anymore, “There’s such a huge house in that direction! Where was she pointing? Besides, why was she running? No matter how remote this ce is, it can’t be that they have never seen outsiders before, right?”
He Xun looked at the olddy’s departing figure and narrowed his eyes. He turned to Chen Wei’er and said, “She doesn’t seem to want us toe here…”
“Why?” Chen Wei’er was puzzled. “We’re just here to pick some osmanthus!”
He Xun retracted his gaze and had a guess in his heart. However, he didn’t tell Chen Wei’er because he didn’t have any evidence.
“Let’s go. We’ll ask when we get there,” He Xun said as he hold Chen Wei’er in his arms while they walked.
This was the only thing they could do. Chen Wei’er followed He Xun, but the more they walked forward, the more people they saw.
However, Chen Wei’er was sensitive enough to notice that these people were looking at her with strange expressions.
That was right! They were looking at her! When they looked at He Xun, who was beside her, their gazes turned hostile.
Chen Wei’er frowned. Perhaps it was a woman’s sixth sense. Her intuition told her that this vige…didn’t seem simple.
This time, Chen Wei’er didn’t ask the old people. Instead, she stopped a little boy.
“Little Brother, hello. How do I get to the vige chief’s house?”
The boy looked to be in his teens. He looked at Chen Wei’er in a daze.
“You’re so beautiful…”
