    When Grandmother Qi came out of the elevator with Guan Liya, the receptionist thought she was seeing things and was afraid to even greet them without being greeted first.

    Guan Liya smiled and ced a paper bag on Ruan Danchen’s empty desk. “I heard Ruan Danchen’s been having some diforttely and her energy levels aren’t that good. Sometimes, others might conspire behind one’s back. These things are inevitable. Our Danchen, however, is an honest and ethical person. She never does these kinds of things and even if she was wronged, she would simply hide away and suffer by herself. Taking revenge and using dirty tactics is not something she would do, so we need to help her out when ites to these things. Director Zhao, if you could please pay a bit more attention to her. You took care of Song Yu well when she was still working here, and we’re all really thankful and appreciative of your actions.”

    Yang Yunshu felt so unhappy. It was a hard-enough task to spite Ruan Danchen into leaving the office, so why did that kind of thing had to happen again!


    She walked over uneasily, but before the olddy and Guan Liya could say anything, Director Zhao eximed angrily, “Aren’t you going to apologize? You take advantage of the liberty I give you when I don’t interfere with your work too much and decide to go around nose-picking in the office? You soured the good working environment that we have here!”


    Director Zhao then turned to face the olddy and Guan Liya. “I’ll make sure that she apologizes to Ruan Danchen, and this time I’ll regte the working environment of the entirepany. Those who stir up office politics and falsely use others will be punished severely!”


    He finally understood why Qi Chenglin insisted on Ruan Danchen for the project with Qilin—the man simply wanted to take care of his wife at work.


    “What’s the meaning of this? You’re the one who’s been harassing Ruan Danchen at work?” Guan Liya looked sternly at Yang Yunshu.


    “I thought you had no idea that Ruan Danchen was bullied at work? Why do you know about it all of a sudden?” the olddy asked Director Zhao.

    “I didn’t know he’s...” Yang Yunshu said helplessly.


    “If you knew he was my grandson, then you wouldn’t have said all those things? Are you implying that it’s not wrong for you to say that if it’s someone else’s son?” Guan Liya asked coldly.


    “I didn’t mean it that way, Mrs. Qi, I...”


    Yang Yunshu did not have any opportunity toplete her sentence as the olddy had already waved her hand and was sick of hearing Yang Yunshu’s voice.


    “Director Zhao, we have no intention of using our status to bully others, or else some people might call us uneducated hooligans.     “I came here today as Youxuan’s great-grandmother and I’m trying to talk some sense into Miss Yang,” the olddy remarked coldly.


    “Madam, I’ve made a mistake.” Yang Yunshu hurriedly offered, “Can you please give me a chance to personally say sorry to Youxuan?”


    “That’s not necessary.” The olddy would never give her the chance to see Youxuan. That would give Yang Yunshu an opportunity to mingle with the upper-ss people.


    “Director Zhao, you seem to be suggesting that Miss Yang was the one who caused Ruan Danchen trouble. We won’t interfere with this as this is yourpany’s internal problem, but we hope you can act justly on this,” Guan Liya remarked solemnly.

    “I’ll send the both of you off,” Director Zhao said and followed suit blindly.


    “No need,” Guan Liya said coldly.


    Nevertheless, Director Zhao still followed suit and sent them to the elevator beforeing back.


    The minute he entered into his office, Director Zhao pointed at Yang Yunshu’s nose and said angrily, “Go and apologize to Ruan Danchen right now, and resign immediately after that! You’re a good-for-nothing except dragging thepany down in the mud. Instead of thinking about how to do your job properly, all you know is y hical and dirty tricks all day. Last time it was Song Yu, and if it wasn’t for me pleading on your behalf, both you and Chengshi would have no future in this field. In the end, you still haven’t learned your lesson.     Director Zhao went back to his office and phoned Ruan Danchen immediately. At the same time, she was at home preparing for the part of Qilin’s job application that required her to do a written test. If she managed toplete it, she would then proceed to the face-to-face interview.


    She picked up the call from Director Zhao and heard him in an even more polite tone then before. “Danchen, I’ve already chastised Yang Yunshu. When are you going toe back? I’ll let her apologize publicly to you and after that, I’ll have her fired. I promise that you’ll get justice.”


    Ruan Danchen continued listening and realized that the first call he had given her was solely because of the business that she brought to thepany. Back then, he tried to advise her toe back. On the second call, his tone wasced with attempts to curry favor with her and he was being extremely cautious when talking to her.


    She shifted her gaze from theputer and spoke softly, “You were reluctant to agree to itst time, didn’t you, Director Zhao? Only a short time had passed since then, and now you’re agreeing to it already?”


    “I didn’t immediately agree because I wanted to find a better solution for all this. Danchen, please don’t worry, mypany will not let the same thing happen again. Healthypetition among colleagues is allowed, but resorting to malicious tactics is strictly forbidden.     In the afternoon, Ruan Danchen went to Qilin, but because she was afraid Qi Chenglin might know, she did not ask Xiao Yang to send her. Instead, she took a cab there.


    She was scared at the thought of meeting Qi Chenglin there, but then again, she remembered that he was Qilin’s general manager. He probably would not just waltz around without a purpose in the lobby.


    When Ruan Danchen got off the cab, however, she did not expect to see Qi Chengyue waiting at the entrance.


    Ruan Danchen was feeling shy. It was far too obvious for Qi Chengyue to be waiting in the open.


    “Danchen!” Qi Chengyue waved immediately after spotting her.


    Ruan Danchen walked over speedily and scanned the surroundings. Thankfully, it was office hours, so there were no people there and it would not attract too much attention.


    “Why did you wait for me here?” Ruan Danchen came over and said embarrassedly.


    “I was worried you couldn’t find your way.” Qi Chengyue smiled. The truth, however, was that Qi Chenglin called her and asked her to go down and fetch Ruan Danchen.


    Qi Chengyue held Ruan Danchen’s arm intimately and led her in. When they waited for the elevator, its doors opened to reveal Luo Yushu standing inside. His mind went nk and he forgot that he was supposed to actuallye out of the elevator.


    “Miss Qi, Miss Ruan,” Luo Yushu greeted immediately. From inside the elevator, he ced his hand on the doors to prevent them from closing. In his mind, he was amazed to see Ruan Danchen being on such good terms with the Qi family.


    “Manager Luo,” Qi Chengyue smiled and greeted back.


    “Hehe, are you here to meet our General Manager, Miss Ruan?” Luo Yushu asked, smiling.


    Apart from the Qi family, there were probably no other people in thepany who knew of Ruan Danchen’s status, so Luo Yushu was rather pleased that he was in the know.


    Feeling slightly hard-pressed, Ruan Danchen did not know how to answer as she was afraid that Luo Yushu might tell Qi Chenglin that he saw her.


    Besides her, Qi Chengyue smiled and remarked, “Not at all, Danchen’s here to apply for the job opening but she wants to keep a low profile and hide it from my big brother. She’s afraid that he would bring her in through the back door, which will be a bad effect on thepany. Don’t tell anyone, okay.”


    Luo Yushu looked at Ruan Danchen puzzledly. ‘How is it low profile when Qi Chengyue came to personally escort you up?


    ‘Moreover, the new position in the design department seemed to have popped up quite recently. How coincidental that Ruan Danchen is here. The position couldn’t possibly have been made specifically for Ruan Danchen, right?’
