She hated how her mother was insulted, but on the other hand, she could sympathize with Huo Yunting.
He had spoken the truth—her mother started off as the third party in his parents’ rtionship, but she ended up as Huo Zhenning’s official wife. Huo Yunting’s mother was so shaken by the affair that she suffered a mental breakdown and attempted suicide. Now, she remained hospitalized as her mind was a total wreck.
These punishments... They deserved all of them.
Under Huo Zhenning’s furious re, Huo Yunting stood up and said calmly, “Once again, I congratte Mr Huo for your new family. You’ve married another man’s wife, and even took in the woman’s daughter. I don’t think you would sincerely wee an outsider like me right now. I shall not interrupt this reunion dinner you have with your new family any further.”
He waved at them in a gentlemanly fashion and made to leave.
“Huo Yunting, you ungrateful son, get back here!”
Huo Yunting ignored his father’s angry howls and left the dining room at his own pace.
Having stayed out of the argument so far, Mo Shan suddenly stood up and said, “Uncle, let me talk to Brother Yunting.”
Huo Zhenning sighed and waved helplessly. “Please do.”
Since dinner was rudely interrupted, the three remaining people at the table had lost their appetite.
After dinner, Huo Zhenning cooed softly to Xue Yuming in an attempt to console her. Lu Zhaoyang had no interest in watching them got all lovey-dovey. Theplicated rtionship was grating on her nerves, so she left the house soon after.
Huo Zhenning had always approved of his quiet and obedient foster daughter. He had arranged for a private ne to fly her home.
Huo Yunting never came back. Lu Zhaoyang stood by the floor-to-ceiling window that overlooked the water fountain in the garden outside andughed mockingly at herself.
He must be making out with Mo Shan right now.
Good. Maybe I can escape my current situation sooner than expected.
The next day, she finally saw Huo Yunting again in the afternoon in apany board meeting.
Huo Yunting arrivedte and was immediately summoned to Meeting Room 1 to discuss a development n with the nning department. When it came to work, Lu Zhaoyang always acted with professionalism.
“Sir, I have arranged for your meeting with Everthrive’s President Gao at ten.”
Huo Yunting tapped idly on his desk and replied, “You go.”
“...”
Lu Zhaoyang was puzzled. “This is President Gao we are talking about. Don’t you think it is inappropriate for a mere secretary like me to meet him?”
Huo Yunting threw her a side-nce before propping up one of his legs on his table and leaning back in his chair. “I will not go to overindulge him.”
Lu Zhaoyang was taken aback. She wondered how Huo Yunting can be so careless when he was the founder of Thunderbolt Corp.
Everthrive Corp had went to great lengths to secure this development n with Thunderbolt Corp, but the former was in fact one of the Fortune 500panies. Surely Huo Yunting was not treating their president seriously enough?
Since arguing with her boss would be fruitless, Lu Zhaoyang decided to go along.
“Alright.”
Lu Zhaoyang wanted to bring a female assistant with her, but thetter quickly slipped away after citing some excuse. In the end, she had to meet President Gao by herself.
The moment she left, all hell broke loose in the secretary department.
“Have you heard about Gao Hai?”
“What about him?”
“He’s a douchebag who likes to fool around with youngdies. Secretary Lu is in going to be in trouble...”
“No way! Secretary Lu works directly under the president himself, he wouldn’t dare, would he?”
“Why not? He did it with the secretary of the head of nning department, and then settled the matter with two million. Everyone got what they wanted in the end.”
The men who were passing by and overheard the discussion in the secretary department all turned on their heels and zipped away.
