Sitting at one end of the table was Huo Yunting, who studied her like an outsider with a smile of amusement.
“Secretary Lu, do you have an exnation for this?” he asked inly.
Lu Zhaoyang stood up straight, portraying no signs of fear or trepidation on her face as she spoke, “For now, we should focus on solving the problem.”
The joint venture was not yet set in motion. There was still time to make up for the error.
“Solve it? How?”
The same board member who started all the usations asked.
“Should we refuse to acknowledge the quotation in the contract? We will avoid losing all that money for sure, but Thunderbolt Corp’s reputation will go to the dogs if the word gets out. That will cost us way more than five hundred million!”
Lu Zhaoyang maintained herposure under his aggressive reproach. “Please send me to speak with Hai Shang’s president. The best scenario will be if he is willing to overlook this error. If not, I will ept full responsibility to show that this is not ourpany’s mistake.”
“Full responsibility? Who do you think you are? The damage you have caused will still be paid by thepany!”
“That’s right, how conceited you are, what a joke!”
“...”
Lu Zhaoyang quietly stood where she was. The mistake urred under her watch, so it was best to let the board members vent their anger and frustrations before continuing with the discussion for a solution.
When the usations continued to fly, Huo Yunting left the meeting room to answer a call. By the time he was done, he returned to the meeting room to see Lu facing the music in quiet stubbornness and resolution.
There was a faint hint of a smile on his face, but his expression slowly darkened.
Crack!
Huo Yunting abruptly mmed his cell phone onto the meeting table, instantly silencing everyone who was speaking.
“Are you done yet?”
Huo Yunting’s eyes shed dangerously. “Why are you all fussing over such a small matter? Hai Shang had just returned the contract to us to amend it. Problem solved.”
Everyone in the meeting room was shocked by his announcement.
After the emotional reflex, they began to wonder exactly what he had done to persuade the other party to give up such a golden opportunity!
One of the board members said, “President, it’s all well that the problem is solved, but Secretary Lu is responsible for starting this mess, and she must bear the consequences. I suggest that we fire her!”
“I second that!”
“I agree. This kind of mistake should not bemitted by the president’s assistant!”
Lu Zhaoyang heaved a quiet sigh of relief. Losing her job was the best possible oue for her.
She was just about to agree to it when Huo Yunting startedughing. His thin lips arched in a way that was so dangerously charming.
“Are you ganging up to fire one of my own people? Who gave you the authority? Are you suggesting that I am incapable of choosing one of my own?”
All of them wentpletely silent. Looks were exchanged, and they all had the same question in mind.
One of his own?
Just who was Lu Zhaoyang to the president that he would go to such great lengths to protect her?
Could it be that the rumours were true? Was she really his lover?
Xue Yuming’s marriage was more scandalous than proper. The ceremony itself was simple, and few had seen Xue Mingyu in person, much less the extra member that she brought into the Huo family.
Hence, no one in thepany was aware of Lu Zhaoyang’s rtionship with the Huo Family.
Since she was pretty much guaranteed to keep her job for now, instead of happiness, Lu Zhaoyang felt dispirited and decided to speak up.
