Huo rested on his throne inside the President’s office, as he thought about his mental scheme with closed eyes.
Mo Shan’s cries affirming Lu as his sister was reverberating in his mind. It was as if the girl morphed into his wife behind the scene, and stood before him while giving off a tenacious look.
A kind of irritation clouded him, as he did a speed dial through thendline, “Call them tonight, Golden City.”
“What’s wrong, Brother Huo? You sounded bad today. Did someone piss you off again? I’ll settle that pest for you!”
Huo Li carried on bbering how great Brother Huo was to him while borating his well-formed punishment for that pest. Huo Yunting’s eyes were losing their colors.
...
...
“Hello?” Said Huo Li on the phone, “Heeelllloooooooooo. Earth calling Brother Huo, earth calling Brother Huo?”
...
“Calling Brother Huo the handsome, the great, the one-and-only, h-”
“Did you just curse me being a loner for the rest of my life?” Said Huo Yunting with a wry smile.
“Absolutely, positively, undoubtedly no sir! By ‘one-and-only’ I meant Brother Huo is befitting to the word ‘one-of-a-kind’ in his talents, achievements and honors, the only person who could have them all in this century!”
“Brother Huo? Hello?”
*Beep... beep... beep... beep...*
Huo Yunting had already tossed away his receiver whichnded right on the button to hang up.
The receiver then bounced off and was left hanging by the other side of the table.
He frowned in nk dismay as he looked at the dark clock on the wall. He should have gone home a long time ago... He got up, took his coat, and strolled to the exit as he put it on. His expression was grim.
The moment he passed the Secretary’s Office, he could not help but take a quick look. The office was already empty yet there was a little silhouette working hard on her desk.
He walked with quicker and lighter steps as he sneered.
“Hahh...” Lu yawned as she did a stretch, realizing the whole office was hers by then.
She left her seat for some water from the water dispenser, as she thought about the contract. She knew every single person in the office yet she could not tell who the culprit was behind this filthy contract amendment.
Unless they were backed by somebody...
Somebody...
Hm...
Wait, there was one.
Yu Man’er.
The name rang in her mind. She shut the water dispenser’s tap. A strange smile crawled on her face.
Hm...
She walked back to her seat.
