Huo Yunting put on his grim, frozen, expressionless face.
He strode to Qiu Ran’s ward after the conversation with the doctors.
“It’s difficult doesn’t mean it’s impossible! Why the hell do I keep you trash here if it’s impossible to cure?” Howled Huo Yunting before this.
He was very angry before, but the moment he stepped into the ward, he turned calm.
“Mr. Huo, please, we really tried our very best!” The leading doctor was not feeling easy at the situation since Mr. Huo was, in fact, the VVIP who donated tons of medical instruments to the hospital. He even outsourced a number of experts from overseas to cure her faster.
The doctor was right. It was not impossible to cure, just difficult.
The difficulty was not from them but from the patient herself.
The patient was so unwilling to cooperate that she hindered the entire treatment.
Huo Yunting gave a knock before pushing the gate open, as his nose was knotted with the sharp smell of sterilizer. His squinted eyes discerned his ill mother, Qiu Ran, sitting on the floor in her patient robe while staring at the ceiling idly.
Her shoulder length hair had turned hoary and her soulless eyes had sunken by the agonizing days. She was bony and depressed. It was the appearance of her son that struck her like a lighted match as she reached out her arms, “Ting! Ting...”
“I’m here, mother,” he walked to her quickly and squatted before her as if an angel to salvation. At this distance, the details grew in Huo’s eyes, as he could notice the wrinkles over her yellowish, dispirited face that lost its former glow, along with a few brownish spots. No one could take her as the wife of a wealthy family in her forties.
Qiu Ran grabbed his arms, as lights returned in her pupil, “Ting, it really is you!”
“Mother...I...” Huo’s words were choked by the wrenching pain in his chest. The appearance of his mother was painful to behold.
“Ah...hmm...hmmm...” Qiu Ran burst into tears upon hearing the reply. The familiar salutation was long unheard, it was so nostalgic that Qiu Ran grabbed his arms tighter, responding more intensely, “Ting! That woman has destroyed everything! She broke our family!” She shouted, choked at times, “If she did not force your father to marry her, I would not look like this! Your father would never abandon me! My life! My whole life has been destroyed by that woman!!”
“Mother, calm down...” Huo was helpless at her frantic reaction, as he tried holding back his aching sorrow yet it welled up like tears in his eyes.
“She has taken everything from me! The old days will never be back! But Ting, there’s still hope for you! You can take those things back! You must! You must not allow her to do everything as she wishes! Did you hear me? Ting! Ting!!”
Qiu Ran carried on repeating his name ever since, with her hands tightly fixed on his cor.
“Yes, mother. I heard it, mother. Please, mother, don’t be like this. I beg you.”
Qiu Ran let go of her son, she stood up and spread her arms. Like a free bird, she roamed the room, spinning.
“Hahahahaha! Zhenning! Oh, Zhenning! Won’t you reconcile with me?! You are my everything, my EVERYTHING! You can’t abandon Ting and me, just wait, Zhenning!!!”
“...” Huo Yunting closed his eyes and tried turning a deaf ear to his mother’s reaction.
Mother is still ill as before...She is still not over from the trauma after Huo Zhenning divorced her only to marry Madam Xue. She turned mad eventually and was admitted to the hospital.
While he was tasting sentiments, Qiu Ran crawled to him and pulled his cor down with her bloodshot eyes into him.
“Ting, you promised you will help mommy, didn’t you? You will avenge mommy, will you? Please, my child, please, for mommy, never let that woman enjoy what’s supposedly ours.”
There was strong spite that raided her for a second.
Huo Yunting opened his eyes slowly, as he clenched his fists.
Qiu Ran continued wandering at the ward like a hungry baby, with her white hair moving with the wind confusingly.
The wealth of the Huo family? He gave no damn. But Madam Xue, oh yes, he would, he would make sure she died with the most regrets.
Yes, he would.
