Huo Yunting maintained the thin smile on his face. No secret could stay hidden forever.
“Just tell me how much you need, and I’ll send you the cheque tomorrow.” Huo Yunting said almost casually.
As a shareholder, Huang Dong could have just enjoyed his year-end bonus. However, he had chosen to interfere with thepany’s operations and even installed a listening device in his office. It would be disgrace to himself if he did not punish Huang Dong severely!
Huang Dong stuck out one finger very slowly. He could not entirely grasp what Huo Yunting was thinking still.
“A hundred million? Hmm, that’s not a lot.”
Huo Yunting picked up his chopsticks and continued enjoying his dinner.
Huang Dong was no longer in the mood to eat, however. Would Huo Yunting really give him 100 million tomorrow?
How would that benefit that man?
“Mr President, I had nothing to do with the incident with Emperor Corp. I only found out after the fact that it was a shellpany. It is as you say, I liked the word ‘Emperor’, and the fengshui master said that the word would bring great fortune!” Huang Dong tried to exin again.
Huo Yunting took his time in responding. “Hmm, I agree.”
Huang Dong felt a chill down his back when he heard that.
This sudden interlude made the rest of the people in the dining room a lot quieter. Some of them stopped drinking altogether.
(The next day.)
Huang Dong went to Huo Yunting’s office first thing in the morning. He had dressed himself up for the asion, and his hair was positively glistening. However, the ck circles around his eyes betrayed the fact that he could not sleep well the night before.
Huo Yunting was leaning back in his seat, staring at hisputer screen like he did not notice the new visitor in his office. There was a cheque right beside his hand.
Arge number with a lot of zeros were written on the cheque.
Huang Dong was immediately tempted. The cheque was signed with his name on it. He would be able to cash it in right after this meeting.
Was Huo Yunting actually serious when he made the offer for financial support?
This amount of money was far more than what he received from... that man.
“Mr President...”
He greeted carefully. He felt so excited that his eyes were almost bulging, and his cheeks were pulled back in eager anticipation.
Lu Zhaoyang was standing beside her boss. She took a quick look at Huo Yunting and flipped open the documents in her hands. She produced a pen for Huang Dong.
“Please sign here, and the cheque will be yours.”
“What is this?”
Huang Dong epted the pen and eyed the documents. It looked thick. What was this?
“There are three copies here that require your signature.”
“Secretary Lu, I should at least know what I’m signing, right? Let me read them first!”
Having been in the business for so many years, he knew better than to sign papers that he knew nothing about.
“Don’t worry, Huang Dong, you’re not selling your soul.” Lu Zhaoyang smiled professionally. “Or will you choose not to sign once you read the papers?”
“I just want to have a look at them! We’re all businessmen. It’s only natural to be vignt. Surely the president will not fault me for that?”
Huang Dong held the pen but made no motion of signing.
“Of course, you may read the papers! However, don’t expect to get away with your deeds. Know that we can sue you for leaking corporate secrets, considering that you shared details of our Qingshan tender proposal with outsiders. That will keep you behind bars for a few years, but you will live to be a free man once again!”
Lu Zhaoyang said without expression. The smile on her face was gone.
Huang Dong frowned. He flipped through the papers, and was only a few pages in when his face paled significantly. His pen fell onto the floor.
