Xue Yuming unconsciously pulled the curtain beside her. She must convince her daughter to return!
“Mum, I really don’t want to go back. I am enjoying my life here. Chen is also happy. Do you really want me to live a life in agony?”
Life with Huo Yunting, under the man’s physical and mental torture, was horrible.
She was not sure if they knew about her rtionship with Huo Yunting, but she just did not want to go back.
“Yang Yang, anything is negotiable. Do you really think you can life a peaceful life overseas? Do you think the Huo family will just leave you be?”
“I don’t care. Just let me be selfish for once, please?”
Lu Zhaoyang’s eyes began to water. She could not stand listening to her mother cry and could only try to convince herself with those words.
“I’m begging you, I can’t live without your Uncle Huo!” Xue Yuming sobbed louder and louder and sounded almost hopeless.
“Don’t do anything foolish!”
“Yang Yang, the old missus said that if I can’t convince you toe back, she will kick me out of the family. Without Zhenning, there is no meaning in my life anymore!”
“Mum, try to calm down, I...”
Was she really going to give up, just like that?
Abruptly, the call ended. Lu Zhaoyang listened to the dial tone and slowly let her phone slip out of her hand.
The phonended with a soft p on the ground.
Lu Zhaoyang did not seem to hear it. She froze where she stood and let tears quietly roll down her cheeks.
She opened her mouth and tried to catch her breath and calm herself down. Her hands squeezed tightly onto the bed sheet.
What to do now...
If she did not go back, her mother would have to leave the Huo family and the man she loved. A woman without a job left alone like that might just consider suicide!
Lu Zhaoyang did not want to put her mother’s life at risk!
She stared at the wall through blurry eyes. Her life here was so short, but she had already treated the cottage as her own home...
Huo Chen nevere to disturb Lu Zhaoyang during her nap time, so she continued to stay in her bedroom until it was nighttime.
She pulled herself together and left her room only when Huo Chen called her for dinner.
At the dining table, she kept her head low and quietly but quickly finished her dinner. After they were done, she did not bother with the clean-up work and went straight back to her room.
Huo Chen noticed her behavior and thought that there must be something weighing on her mind.
At night, Lu Zhaoyangy in bed and listened to the wind billowing outside. When the wind finally died down, she was still awake.
Her mother’s words kept echoing in her mind.
“I can’t live without your Uncle Huo!”
She cannot allow her own selfishness to endanger her mother’s life.
Having sleepless nights for the rest of her life was impractical.
She once thought that her current blissful life could only be temporary.
She was right, it seemed.
Lu Zhaoyang did not sleep a wink that night. Her eyes were dry and painful the next morning, but she could not find the strength to get out of bed.
“Yang Yang, time to wake up.” Huo Chen was knocking at her door.
“Okay,ing...” She replied weakly and slowly got out of bed.
