Huo Chen hid his lover behind his back as the elderly unleashed her fury. The ground was knocked repetitively with the end of her rod.

    “Mother...”

“Now you finally know some responsibilities! I almost had a heart attack seeing you two together!” She then swung her rod across Chen’s legs. Zhaoyang could not stay under Chen’s guard anymore. She then moved to the front with her head lowered showing remorse.

It was not entirely Chen’s fault since the beginning. I was the one who nodded to his n. It is time for me to face the consequences.

“Mother, my sister-inw was not part of our family yet when Yang and I started dating. Therefore, we are a rightful couple! And we are fine as a rightfully married couple since Yang and I were never rted by blood!” Said Huo Chen firmly as stone. Before Zhaoyang could say a word, the man grabbed her by her waist as he made his stance clear, “I hope you would allow this, granny.”

“Allow you two to get married? Preposterous! The two Huo brothers marrying both the mother and sister of another family! Only you animals could do this and in no way I can allow this. Our family has suffered enough humiliation!” The olddy bolted up from the sofa with her index finger shook pointing at Huo Chen, “You imbecile! How on Earth you could do this? Thew of family will speak! Bring me the things!”

    Law of family? Whatw?

    And what thing?

Lu Zhaoyang’s pupils shrunk in fear at the thought of it. Her blinking eyes tried signaling people around to answer her inquiry but to no avail.

She looked at Madam Xue as her lips pouted in worry. She passed a nce at Huo Zhenning as she hoped that he would do mercy for his brother. And —well, Huo Yunting was supposed to be there yet she did not see him.

He actually disappeared at the nick of time?

Then why send Huo Li the moment I stepped out of our house?

    Weird.

“Alright, mother. Let thew of family speak. Do anything as you please, as long as you allow Yang and-”

“IMPOSSIBLE! DO. NOT. EVEN. THINK. ABOUT. IT!” She then pointed at Lu Zhaoyang as her teeth grinded with searing rage, “And it’s—it’s—It’s ALL YOUR FAULT!”

“Mother, this has nothing to do with Yang Yang!” Huo Chen gave a quick reply, “I was the one who insisted escaping with her!” People were expecting canning from the olddy or the ssic “I will not... again” pen and papers treatment, yet it turned out to be something more terrifying than Lu Zhaoyang imagined, as a trail of footsteps stormed in.

They were bodyguards, in ck suits and sunsses, with a whip in their hands. The bodyguards were beefy as Lu Zhaoyang almost staggered upon their bloating veins on their flexing biceps brandishing the long leather whip.

Imagine the pain with that strength.

    Oh no.

“No, don’t do it! Please don’t! It has nothing to do with him! Whip me if you want!” Zhaoyang was no longer sure of what to do, but instinct told her to hold this up for Chen. “Yang Yang, it’ll be alright,” said Huo Chen as he pulled her away from the enraged dowager and gripping her wrists with his eyes hinting her to calm down, “Don’t forget that I am a soldier. A few simple whips would not take me out.”

“But you were a WOUNDED soldier! Don’t do it, please!” The scratches the whips made might not be an issue but whatever it entailed could be lethal to Chen’s body!

Huo Chen let his woman go and stood in the center of the living room as he began unbuttoning his shirt. His toned abdomen lifted and sank drastically as he made that deep breath.

Lu Zhaoyang tried stopping the execution but Madam Xue held her back, “Stay back!” Her mother shouted, “Your fragile little body won’t be able to take that!” The whip’s crisp sound rang loud in the room as the first crimson sh sullied Chen’s fair back. The whipping continued and soon Zhaoyang could see bit of blood oozing out of the intersecting wounds, “Stop it! Please, no! Don’t do it anymore! It’s my fault, all my fault! Granny, please—I—”

Zhaoyang could not speak as Madam Xue covered her mouth.
