Nevertheless, she now understood that had Yang Yang knew that Huo Chen was from the Huo family, her daughter would have stopped her from marrying Huo Zhenning.
This convinced her that her daughter did not know about Huo Chen’s identity when they were dating.
Perhaps she did not even know his family name. If she had known, she would have at least guessed at the connection.
Old Mrs Huo was too angry to understand that much from Lu Zhaoyang’s words. The onlydy simply left the room grumpily.
The incident of the broken vase and the melon seeds were all forgotten in the heat of the moment.
The guilty maidservant was overjoyed. If she ever made a mistake again, all she had to do was me Lu Zhaoyang.
Lu Zhaoyang went back to her own room and locked the door.
She looked outside the floor-length window and realized that it was snowing heavily. Perhaps everyone would be treated with a snow-white scenery tomorrow morning.
The human heart was just like snow — pure and white from the outside, but dirty on the inside!
Thoughts like this upied her mind until she gradually fell asleep, but she woke up again before the sun was up.
It was not because she had slept enough. Instead, she was woken up by the cold.
She sat up wrapped in her own nket and thought that the air conditioner may have malfunctioned.
She tried to switch it on again, but found that the appliance did not respond.
It was not the case of a spoiled appliance, but of a power cut.
“It’s so cold...”
There was only one nket on her bed and it was not enough. She used her cell phone as a torchlight and found her way to the wardrobe to get another nket.
The snow must have been turned into a blizzard and disrupted the electricity supply.
The extra nket made it more tolerable for her. It took awhile, but she fell asleep once again.
She had a restless sleep that night and still felt tired the next morning.
Since she had beenbeled aste riser, it did not matter if she woke upter than usual now.
After snuggling in bed for awhile, she finally dragged herself up and pulled the curtains.
Snow was everywhere. It had snowed so heavily that the entire Huo residence was covered in ayer of thick snow.
The morning sun was now gently melting away the snow.
Lu Zhaoyang put onyer uponyer of clothes before stepping out of her room, but it turned warm drastically outside.
The air was warm and the corridor lights were on. She looked at the furryyers she was wearing and thought that she would definitely be theughing stock of everyone in the house.
Why was her room without electricity?
She realized the truth just secondster. It did not matter to her. She had wanted to take a stroll outdoors anyway, so she did not need to change.
She went downstairs and headed straight to the kitchen. She was about to make breakfast when someone called her name.
“Lu Zhaoyang, I see that you’re dressed warmly. Come with us to shovel the snow outside! You’ll be willing, I’m sure, since it’s Madam’s orders, right?”
A maidservant approached her with an iron shovel.
“You go ahead. I’m not ready yet.” She had not had breakfast and felt too weak to work.
“Not ready? Madam is going to take a walk in the courtyard soon. If there is still snow when she arrives, you’re dead meat!”
What an interesting maidservant. What makes her think I am the one who will be punished? Did old Mrs Huo really specified that she must shovel the snow?
Lu Zhaoyang noticed that a few other maidservants were standing around them in the background, hiding a sneer behind their hands.
She recognized one of them as the one guilty of breaking the porcin vase and using her instead.
