When they walked out of the bar, she saw Huo Li with his hands in his pockets, making his way leisurely inside. Lu Zhaoyang shuddered at the thought of whatever ruthless methods he was about employ on the man inside.
The winter breeze blew and she curled further inward in Huo Yunting’s arms.
Her unintentional reaction pleased Huo Yunting. He slowly made his way towards the car.
Inside the car, she no longer felt the icy cold wind nor his body warmth.
Lu Zhaoyang put her phone back into her bag and looked at Huo Yunting, who was sitting beside her. “Did Yazhi call you?”
He would never have known about her whereabouts otherwise.
“I hope that you would make the call next time.” Huo Yunting did not look at her. He stepped on the elerator and drove onto the main street.
“Huo Yunting, thank you.” She had nothing else to say. Gratitude, however, was appropriate and necessary.
“You know that I never need gratitude in the form of words.”
“...”
What a greedy man! She should not have said anything at all!
Huo Yunting never got a reply from her, but he was not in a hurry. They could always continue at home.
It was irresponsible for her to leave the office so promptly and visit some trashy bar. He would have to teach her a lesson worth remembering.
When they reached home, Lu Zhaoyang quickly stepped out of the car and tried desperately to find an excuse to escape tonight’s “activity”.
As husband and wife, there were not many valid excuses for her to choose from. He, however, had plenty of reasons to sleep with her.
Huo Yunting followedzily behind her. The moment they entered the living room, Lu Zhaoyang turned around to look at him.
“Have you had dinner?”
“I had dinner. Now, I’m just waiting to have you.” He had been waiting for her toe home for dinner earlier. It was not very nice of her to go out to somewhere dubious without telling him.
“Sorry, I meant to say that I had not eaten.” Lu Zhaoyang tossed her bag to a maid and said. “I’m cooking noodles.”
Huo Yunting’s eyes narrowed slightly. “I guess you should eat. What’sing next will probably be quite exhausting.”
Lu Zhaoyang pursed her lips and went to the kitchen. She was used to cooking for herself and had recently found it to be a good way to de-stress.
The water was soon boiling. She was about to drop the noodles into the pot when she noticed Huo Yunting leaning against the door frame in his bath robes.
Was he done with bathing already?
“Do you want some?” She turned to him and asked.
Huo Yuntingbed a hand through his wet hair and said, “Well...I certainly hope to get some.”
That was so crude of him!
Surely he can stop spouting nonsense and keep the air cleaner!
“I see.” She did not want to prolong the conversation.
Soon, two bowls of piping hot noodles were done. Lu Zhaoyang took two pairs of chopsticks with her while Huo Yunting followed behind her with the two bowls of noodles.
When they reached the dining room, Lu Zhaoyang stopped in her tracks. Where was the two-meter long dining table? Why was it now a smaller one-meter long and half-a-meter wide table?
Having a table this small in their spacious dining room—Was it suitable? Would it be awkward?
“You’re some, Huo Yunting.” She red at the man behind her.
“Let’s get eating. After that, you should think about how to repay me for rescuing you. It’s not going to be tomorrow, next week, or next year — it’s going to be tonight!”
Huo Yunting put the bowls on the table and serenely sat down opposite her.
“...”
Lu Zhaoyang had just reluctantly started her first bite when she heard him say, “It’s delicious.”
