“Chen Jiu, we are both dead if we kill him!” Wen He shot a look down the corridor. “We are surrounded. The moment you leave this ce, you will be shot down!”

“I’d rather be shot to death than give in to the man who destroyed the organization. Kill him now!”

Chen Jiu’s wrist continued to bleed as the pain worsened.

“Don’t do anything stupid! If you die here, everything ends for you!”

Wen He stood between Huo Chen and Chen Jiu.

That way, they must shoot her first before shooting each other.

Ol’ Jiu would never do that!

Huo Chen, on the other hand, had his orders and would not easily go against them. She could only count on that.

“Hah, are you really discussing how to first lie to me and then take revenge right in front of me?”

Huo Chen spoke mockingly from behind her.

“Huo Chen, I promise you, I will never try to escape again as long as you let him go!”

Wen He said to him without looking back, but then started to mouth words at Chen Jiu, who replied to her in a simr way.

I’ll dy him while you run!

No, I want to kill him!

    You idiot!

Wen He grew anxious as she watched him raise his left hand. “Ol’ Jiu, please, think this through. At least think about Bai!”

Chen Jiu ignored her and pointed his gun beyond her head. He put his finger on the trigger and yelled, “Get out of the way!”

    Bang!

    A gunshot broke the stalemate.

    Bang bang — bang!

    A few more shots followed.

Wen He stumbled in surprise as he watched Chen Jiu fell to the ground. Her stood gaped as she realized what had happened.

Her n was to take the bullet meant for Huo Chen. As long as the man was alive, Ol’ Jiu would still stand a chance.

However, both men had moved faster than she expected. Chen Jiu pushed her aside and fired at Huo Chen.

Thetter dodged the bullet and fired back twice. Then, a figure suddenly appeared behind Huo Chen and fired once at him, thus ending the gunfight.

    “Ol’ Jiu!”

Blood was pooling beside Chen Jiu, who had fallen to the ground. Behind him, Huo Yunting pocketed his gun and turned to leave.

Who does the man think he is to hurt his woman?

Huo Chen noticed Huo Yunting as well. What the h*ll was with him? Was he really leaving after firing just the once?

    How is Yang Yang?

“Ol’ Jiu, don’t you dare close your eyes!” Wen He pulled him up to herp. Her hand that supported his back was wet with blood.

“Cough cough... Sure, if you are... willing to marry me, I think I can hold on for a while more...”

His eyes felt tired as his vision turned blurry.

“We’re brothers, how can I possibly marry you?! Don’t spout nonsense!” Wen He pressed onto his wound. “Officer Huo, I promise that we will stay out of trouble from now on, so please help him!”

“Someone ising.” Huo Chen heard footsteps approaching and took onest look at Chen Jiu before saying to Wen He, “You should know first aid, so I shouldn’t need to tell you what to do.”

Of course she knew what to do. She was only worried that he would stop her.

As she started tending to Chen Jiu’s wound, she asked, “Why do you agree to help quickly? After all, there are not many left from the organization.”

“He managed to escape from the hopeless scenario presented to him. Such a capable person is more useful alive than dead.”

He had orders from above to keep the man alive, but for reasons he was not privy to.
