“Then...” She stopped herself just in time as she thought better of asking if he was still interested in catching Lu Bai. “Enjoy your tea.”
It was better that she kept Lu Bai’s whereabouts a secret.
As Lu Zhaoyang went in the washroom to remove her makeup, Huo Chen picked up his cup of tea and took in his surroundings.
A quarter of an hourter, Lu Zhaoyang re-appeared without her makeup and also in in indoor clothes.
“Huo Yunting’s mother passed away recently, did you know?” She went to him and sat down on a single-seated sofa.
“Yes. I have not had time to visit her grave due to my duties at work.”
“Huo Yunting is badly affected by it,” she spoke softly but with a grim expression. “His mood has taken a dive recently.”
“What about you?”
He was more concerned about her mental health.
He had heard of Aunt Qiu’s passing and the scandal within his family.
The way Yunting made a show during his father’s wedding anniversary had thoroughly embarrassed the Huo family within the upper society circle.
“Me?”
Lu Zhaoyang smiled with self-mockery. How could she be any better?
Once, she would have been happy to see Huo Yunting in a bad mood.
However, the man never seemed to be bothered in the past.
He always had an unreadable smile on his face and an air of nonchnce, as though everything was under his control.
Aunt Qiu’s passing was out of his control. It was a heavy blow to him.
Lu Zhaoyang admitted to herself that she was too soft-hearted to take pleasure in his misfortune.
Beside, she owed him a lot more now...
The thought of Huo Yunting made her feel guilty for having Huo Chen here.
“You must be out on duty. I shall not dy you further.”
The message was clear to Huo Chen.
“Alright. Remember to eat your meals and have enough rest.”
Huo Chen was not a fool. Of course he understood her meaning. He nearly lost grip of his tea cup because of his aching heart.
He put down his cup and sighed softly. “You can call whenever you feel down.”
He took out a white name card that he had prepared earlier and ced it on the tea table.
“Don’t worry about Yunting. He will get through this.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Lu Zhaoyang took the card and walked to the door with him.
Huo Chen had just opened the door when his body turned rigid.
“Yunting.”
Lu Zhaoyang was standing beside Huo Chen when she felt herself being pulled to Huo Yunting’s side.
“I see that you are in my wife’s apartmentte at night. Do military officers behave this way?”
Huo Yunting had one arm firmly around Lu Zhaoyang’s waist as he red at Huo Chen.
“Huo Yunting, we didn’t do anything, there is no reason to be jealous at all!”
Lu Zhaoyang looked up at him and exined. She did not want the rtionship between these two men to be further strained because of her.
However, the arm around her waist held her back.
“You can look for me instead. I don’t think there is any more unfinished business between you two.” Huo Yunting’s eyes narrowed in warning. “Are you done here?”
Huo Chen’s anger spiked because of his attitude. Heshed back in equal measure, “Since she is your wife, you are responsible for looking after her. She is upset and yet you were nowhere to be seen. I wonder if you are capable of taking care of her! If you’re not, then why continue this union?”
“We are not obligated to report our daily affairs to you. Lu Zhaoyang is my wife, for now and forevermore. You have no business here!”
