During this period, Lu Zhaoyang did not make contact with anyone. Huo Yunting and the Huo family must have been gone off the rails now.
Lu Zhaoyang was sunbathing outside, enjoying the faint floral scent in the garden. She turned her head around slightly when she heard footstepsing in her direction.
“What delicious stuff you have made? I can smell it from afar.” She had a good appetite recently.
“Milk jujube oatmeal.” Huo Chen brought a small bowl and sat down next to her. He would often make some snacks and appetizers for her, and his cooking was improving.
“No doubt about it. You have never let me down.” She reached out trying to take the bowl, but Huo Chen held her wrist.
“Let me help you. It is a little hot.”
“I am okay, as long as I don’t swallow the jujube seed.” Lu Zhaoyang ran her hand down the back of his hand and reached the bowl.
“Take it slowly,” Huo Chen said.
She nodded, picked up the spoon, and scooped up a little oatmeal from the bowl by the seat of her pants. She could not help but give it a big thumbs up after tasting it. “Delicious!”
“I will make for you more often if you like it.” Huo Chen’s eyes were tender as he patted her on the head. All he wanted to give her was happiness.
Lu Zhaoyang was eating slowly and careful with every movement. She did not want anything to happen to herself and to have Huo Chen worry about her.
Suddenly, her stomach grew nauseous. She hurriedly leaned over and retched.
“What happened to you?” Huo Chen quickly got to his feet and took the bowl from her hand. Anxiously, he gently patted her back.
Lu Zhaoyang could not even utter a word as her vomiting was getting worse. She could not help pressing her hand on the chest, wondering what was happening to herself; things came so suddenly.
Before she knew it, Huo Chen already carried her in his arms. She felt that her body had lost strength.
“Hang on there. We are going to the hospital right away!” Huo Chen took her into the car and headed straight in the direction of the hospital.
Holding a vomit bag in her hands, stuff continued to gush from her stomach. It sounded like the scratching sound of a cat to Huo Chen’s ear. He could not wait but wish he could fly to the hospital right away.
After a moment that seemed like forever, Lu Zhaoyang finally had a moment of respite. She copsed on the seat.
It was tragic enough to lose her eyesight. Now what? Did she have some incurable illness?
The uneasy feeling bothered Lu Zhaoyang until she finally arrived at the hospital. When the examination report came out, Lu Zhaoyang read it and was rooted to the spot.
She was expecting? She had Huo Yunting’s baby?
Meanwhile, Huo Chen was catching his breath as he hurried back from settling the hospital bill. Hearing the doctor exining the diagnostic result, he froze, and his breathing almost stopped.
“Are you sure? Should we double-check it? Is this a mistake?” Lu Zhaoyang looked up and around, unsure where the doctor was.
The Chinese-born doctor exined in fluent Chinese. “It is not a mistake, and your gestation reaction is evident. It is up to you two to decide if you would like to keep the baby.” After saying that, the doctor smiled and rang the bell, signaling for the next patient toe in.
Lu Zhaoyang did not remember how she got here; her mind went nk. She was shocked, confused, helpless, and even unable to utter a word.
How could I be pregnant? She asked herself. Did Huo Yunting tell that she was in the safe period was a lie?
