“Come, let’s eat!” Lu Zhaoyang inched forward and pointed at her mouth, excitedly.
She was happy, but Huo Chen was even more pleased than she was. Something suddenly came to mind during the feeding time. “Have you named the child?” Huo Chen asked.
“Yup.” Lu Zhaoyang gulped down a mouthful of congee. She already had the name ready as early as during her pregnancy. Her pink lips were eloquent, and her visionless eyes exuding a hint of seriousness. “Huo Xu.”
Surname Huo; given name Xu, which meant lifelike.
Perhaps they could still meet again in this life.
Perhaps, he could still hear the baby calling him daddy.
Perhaps, they could still...
“It is a beautiful name.”
Huo Chen interrupted her train of thought in time. Seeing her dreary face andpressed lips, he knew that she was thinking of that person. Perhaps, Lu Zhaoyang had not even noticed how deep her feelings toward Huo Yunting was. It was evident when she named the child with his surname instead of hers.
After Lu Zhaoyang finished her meal, Huo Chen brought her to undergo a detailed eye check. To the delight of both, the doctor said that her left eye vision was slowly recovering.
Huo Chen was just as happy as Lu Zhaoyang was. The moment that he had been waiting for had finallye.
Her right eye had no sign of recovery yet. So, they could only wait with their fingers crossed, hoping for miracles.
Another week had passed. Lu Zhaoyang was discharged.
The house appeared livelier with the addition of a new member. No matter day or night, there was the asional sound of the baby crying. And every time that happened, Lu Zhaoyang would get up untiredly, holding him and giving himpany no matter howte it was at night.
As time went by, the child began to develop more distinctive bodily contours. But he was still so small and soft that they were extra careful and gentle in handling him.
The air temperature had plunged below zero. On this day, the cry of the child woke Lu Zhaoyang out of her sleep. When she opened her eyes, she froze.
Her eye... she could now see things clearly with her left eye, just like before. She covered her left eye, but her right eye still had no vision.
Xuxu was crying, and she had no time to celebrate. Putting up her jacket quickly, she walked to the crib next to her bed.
“Oh, don’t cry.” The moment Lu Zhaoyang carefully lifted her son out of the crib, she heard a burp and saw the child frowning. “Oh, that is a noxious gas.”
The child giggled with his hands in the air. Perhaps he knew that his mom was hugging him, he put up a big smile on his face, looking so innocent.
This was the first time that Lu Zhaoyang could see him so clearly. Huo Chen lied to her; the child looked more like Huo Yunting. Little Huo Xu had the best of both worlds; he inherited the best features from both of them. Lu Zhaoyang could not help but lean over to kiss him.
After making the milk in the feeding bottle, she fed it to his son as she slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. The little guy had stopped crying. He was now holding the bottle in his hands with his eyes closed. He was so cute.
Looking at his son, Lu Zhaoyang could not help but think of Huo Yunting. She wondered how he was doing now as they had not contacted each other so far.
Huo Yunting believed that she deliberately harmed Aunt Qiu. As long as they could not resolve this misunderstanding, they would have no hope of getting along well. He might not even want to see her face again.
Perhaps it was a good thing; the Huo family would certainly not be willing to recognize the child as part of the family. With the current awkward situation, she did not want her baby to be the subject of any carpingments.
