Yu Linling, “I’m finally saying goodbye to the single life this Valentine’s Day. My girlfriend has a pretty face, pretty hands, and great culinary skills.”
This was thest Weibo post being circted. It was a picture of a table full of food taken at Xu Moyan’s house. Xu Moyan’s fingers could be seen in the picture as well.
Even though it was already two in the morning, the next day was a weekend and so there were many night-owls who were still awake. Thement section under the post was exploding with replies.
“My liege, we’re not ready for you to stop being single yet.”
“Just like that you’re no longer single, and we’re left blindsided by all these lovey-dovey derations. Goodbye.”
“This single dog has just had to suffer being single during Valentine’s Day and is now being tortured even more.”
“My husband, don’t leave!”
“Even though you are someone else’s boyfriend now, I’ll always treat you as my husband.”
“So, your girlfriend is indeed the girl with the great culinary skills mentioned earlier by my liege.”
“My idol, now that you’ve said goodbye to being single, what should my Goddess do? She looks like she has been crushed on Valentine’s Day. We wanted to bring both of you together.” This was apanied by a picture taken from Xu Moyan’s previous post of her half-eaten cake.
Xu Moyan, “...”
She had intended to announce that they had ended up together.
That was why Xu Moyan could not help butugh sneakily as she went, “Hehehe.”
Wei Zilin had openly announced his rtionship and Xu Moyan felt that as his girlfriend, she should follow suit. She did not feel unhappy that Wei Zilin did not use his own Weibo ount to announce the news.
Wei Zilin very rarely used that ount and even if he did post something there, it was usually about work. Besides, there was the issue that happened with Liang Wenyin today. If he made an announcement like this on his personal ount, people might misunderstand and make the connection between him and Liang Wenyin.
He had to take care of the Liang Wenyin issue first. Even though Xu Moyan was not a public-rtions professional, but the advertising industry had some simr tactics, which weremon practice in certain aspects of public rtions. This was merely some basic knowledge that Xu Moyan possessed.
From her point of view, Yu Linling was Wei Zilin. It did not matter which ount he had used to make the announcement.
So, she posted a message on Weibo as well, “I may have eaten my Valentine’s cake, but I still managed to get together with my idol in the end.”
Unsurprisingly, thement section under her post was bustling with activity as well.
“Oh, my Goddess, what a big turn of events. You were broken-hearted in thest post, and now, you’re torturing us single people with this post. I feel like my feelings have been yed by you.”
“What’s going on today? My idol and Goddess announced their rtionships only two minutes apart. I think I might have just stumbled upon some big news.”
“This is too much of a coincidence.”
“Congrattions, my Goddess!”
There were many congrattions extended to her after that and there were a number ofizens who were guessing if both her post and Yu Linling’s could be a normal coincidence, which made Xu Moyan a little speechless.
Xu Moyan put down her phone and decided to go to sleep. It took her a long time before she finally drifted off.
This made her woke upte the next day. She was awoken by the sound of Zheng Yuntong knocking on her bedroom door.
Before Xu Moyan opened her eyes, Zheng Yuntong had already barged in. The previous knocks on the door were just as a courtesy.
Xu Moyan was still groggy and looked confused. Zheng Yuntong jumped toward her. Her arms were supporting her as she leaned by Xu Moyan’s side. “Moyan, quick, take a look. Check out how much of a hero my boss is when he takes matters in his own hands.”
“What?” Xu Moyan was toozy to look up Wei Zilin’s ount with her own phone, so she used Zheng Yuntong’s phone instead.
As this was a real-life private matter, Wei Zilin had used his own ount to make an announcement via a press release. It had stated that he had returned home veryte the night before and had no idea this news had been spread while he was on the ne. He had only realized what had happened after his girlfriend interrogated him, which was why he had immediately released a statement through a press release this morning regarding the matter.
He was not romantically involved with Liang Wenyin any way as she was nothing but a client of Lin Yi. There were not many business dealings between them as another management team in Lin Yin was assigned to work directly with Liang Wenyin. The work did not require Wei Zilin to be personally involved at all.
He had gone to G City for work and was unaware that Liang Wenyin would be there as well. It was extremely coincidental that Liang Wenyin was there as he waspletely unaware and had nothing to do with it. In fact, they never met each other in G City throughout the duration of the trip.
Besides, Wei Zilin clearly stated that he already has a girlfriend. He rushed back home the moment his work in G City was done in order to spend thest two hours of Valentine’s Day with his girlfriend. He had expressed hope that the media would not baselessly tie him to a random woman as it would only create unnecessary trouble for him and his girlfriend.
Wei Zilin had also emphasized that having a girlfriend is a personal matter and there was no need to hide it nor was there a need to openly mention it. He was under no obligation to announce his rtionship status to society. As this matter had created tension between him and his girlfriend, as well as causing a general misunderstanding in the public regarding his level of affiliation with Liang Wenyin, Wei Zilin had to rify the matter. He did not want his girlfriend to feel upset over this when she was the real deal while outsiders tried to negatively associate him with another woman.
His girlfriend was unhappy over the news yesterday. Even though she trusted him and knew that he would never do anything to upset her, she still felt unhappy seeing her boyfriend being connected to another woman.
Of course, these were Xu Moyan’s understanding of the statement in normal words. The words Wei Zilin had used in the press release were much more formal and official. He had adopted a more proper, ssy approach with his choice of words and sentences, but if one were to really analyze them, it would sound exactly how Xu Moyan would say it.
The press release made no mention of the post Liang Wenyin had put uptest night, but the contents of it were enough to give her a virtual p in the face.
The way Wei Zilin had released the statement made the public scrutinize Liang Wenyin’s reaction to the news. It looked like she wanted everyone to misread the situation on purpose. What she did not anticipate was that Wei Zilin quietly got himself a girlfriend.
It made Liang Wenyin’s actions look childish and sly.
She had gone all the way to G City just to stay in a hotel. After some investigation, it turned out she had no reason to be in G City as she had no business affairs to attend to there. Liang Wenyin had purposely made an appearance after Wei Zilin with a short gap in between both their appearances. It gave the impression that they were secretly dating when in fact, Wei Zilin had not seen her at all throughout his stay at G City.
From the very beginning, it had been a one-sided affair. Liang Wenyin had purposely created the rumor as bait. Unfortunately, Wei Zilin did not bite.
For a brief period of time following these series of events, this popr, talented woman had been reduced to a joke; an inteughingstock.
Xu Moyan had woken up by now. She rubbed her face as she sat up and reread the statement released by Wei Zilin from beginning to end.
Even though it sounded official and proper, one could still tell that they were the words of Wei Zilin. It was easy to imagine Wei Zilin reading those words aloud in his usual cold and distant tone.
The statement was personally written by Wei Zilin, not letting anyone else go through it at all. This thought made Xu Moyan feel a warmth in her heart. She could not help cing her palm on her chest.
She looked at the time at which the statement was released. It was posted at nine in the morning.
Someone as careful and detailed as Wei Zilin would not simply post a statement just like that. He must have taken the time to look through the statement properly and double-checked it to make sure he could post it with no clear mistakes.
This was not just a statement that dered he was in a rtionship; it was also a statement that rified the misunderstood rtionship reported by the media between him and Liang Wenyin.
Even though the statement did not directly put Liang Wenyin in a negative light, it was enough for people to make the connection that Liang Wenyin was the mastermind behind the rumor. This was a consequence that would not go away with a standard written apology.
It would require quite a bit of thought to ensure it woulde off sincere.
Wei Zilin got home around two in the morning and released the statement several hourster at nine. Xu Moyan wondered how long it took for him to work on the statement but she was sure that he did not give himself any time to rest properly.
Wei Zilin’s statement had created quite a bit ofmotion.
For one, Wei Zilin seldom used his Weibo ount to announce anything. For another, the news had just broken yesterday, and Wei Zilin had immediately given his response. Even though there was no clear mention of Liang Wenyin but if one read between the lines, they would know that the statement did nothing to help Liang Wenyin’s reputation either. The statement did not take into ount how its contents would affect Liang Wenyin.
As for themotion online, manyizens were left dumbfounded after having initially wished congrattions to him and Liang Wenyin.
Xu Moyan guessed that the Weibo ounts that had spread the news of his ‘rtionship’ with Liang Wenyin on Valentine’s Day must have been made to feel guilty by Wei Zilin. When Wei Zilin released his statement, all those ounts made apologies to him.
There were a huge number ofizens who felt cheated by the news and immediately went to Liang Wenyin’s ount to leave snarkyments.
“What’s there to pretend when it’s fake news?”
“Intentional misdirection. I look down on you.”
“I’ve really misjudged you. He already has a girlfriend. What do you hope to achieve in creating this rumor? You should p yourself.”
“Are you trying to create news through ckmail? Shameless!”
Lucky for Liang Wenyin that Wei Zilin did not release the statement through his Yu Linling ount. Liang Wenyin would have endured a hellish experience from Yu Linling’s fans if he did.
Xu Moyan returned the phone to Zheng Yuntong. Zheng Yuntong said, “I just woke up and habitually looked through Weibo. I haven’t even cleaned myself up yet. Let me go wash up.”
Zheng Yuntong rubbed her face as she grabbed her phone and left the room. Xu Moyan rubbed her face too and turned away to look at the white surface outside the house.
The roof, grass, trees and even the cars parked in the courtyard were covered with a thinyer of snow. Everything looked nice and clean. There were snow-melting agents already being used on the pathway where the people were walking. The pathway looked just as usual because of them, even the roads.
Xu Moyan was not in a hurry to get out of bed. She looked out the window in a daze. She was still thinking about the statement Wei Zilin had made.
There may not be any mention of Liang Wenyin but he did mention his girlfriend quite a few times. Every sentence mentioning her might have been no more than squiggly ck words on snow-white paper, but they were still enough to warm Xu Moyan’s heart.
Wei Zilin’s statement and words have made Xu Moyan realize that whatever happenedst night was not a dream. Nothing was going to change after she woke up.
Xu Moyan wanted to send a message to Wei Zilin and tell him that she had read his statement. However, she worried that she would be disturbing his work at the time.
They had just gotten together, and she was still notpletely used to their new rtionship. She hesitated and, in the end, she could not bring herself to send him a message.
She took her phone, which was by her pillow, and hopped onto Weibo instead. Xu Moyan was surprised by the number ofments on her post. There was also arge increase in people adding her.
Xu Moyan did not exactly know what happened. The number of shares andments were in the thousands. Even at the height of her online poprity, she had never experienced anything like this before.
She clicked on thements section and found that most of the discussion was centered on the post announcing her rtionship.
However, the discussion was not really about the post itself, but...
“My Goddess, do you and Yu Linling know each other?”
“No wonder you announced that you were in a rtionship one after the other. You really are together!”
“Wow! I was kidding when I said I wanted the two of you to get together. I did not expect that you would actually do so!”
“My Goddess, how did you and Yu Linling know each other?!”
“My Goddess, my idol has followed you, why haven’t you followed him back? Aren’t you going to follow him?”
“My Goddess, tell us quick, quick! Are you with Yu Linling now?”
“Sob sob sob sob, my rival in love. I’m here to see what my rival in love looks like!”
“You are my Goddess, and my rival in love as well. I have such mixed emotions right now.”
“My Goddess, you’re so lucky. You’ve got exclusive rights to my idol’s voice, especially his breathing in HD. I’m so envious you get to listen to the live version! T.T.”
Xu Moyan blushed. What was going on here?
However, her fans had already thought of things even she had not thought of. It was hard not to find their brainpower impressive.
The fans were right though. The thought of her being able to go all the way with Wei Zilin and hear his exclusive HD breathing made Xu Moyan’s nose burn.
She really, really wanted to hear what it sounded like!
