Shen Wan’s presence here could be justified by various reasons such as tourism or socializing.
However, the appearance of the Shen Family’s Third Lady here raised some intriguing questions…
After all, she had just seen Yi Hong, and with a little investigation, they could find out more.
So she had no choice but to choose escape!
As she reached the corner of the corridor, just a few steps away from the arching door, victory seemed within reach. However, unexpectedly, she heard approaching footsteps, getting closer…
Chu Yujiang had rushed here after receiving a call and bumped into Ling Yun. “What’s going on?”
“Did you see a waitress in a cheongsam?”
“They’re all over the ce.”
Ling Yun was speechless.
“But there’s only one way from here to the lobby, and when 1 came over, I didn’t see anyone else.”
To put it simply, if someone left through this exit, unless they had the ability to fly or teleport, they would most likely still be somewhere around here!
Ling Yun’s expression lit up. Chu Yujiang had already managed to close the arching door before him, and Shen Wan was like the fish in the barrel who couldn’t escape!
“Having fun?” The man’s deep voice came from behind her,ced with a hint of amusement.
Shen Wan stiffened, then turned slowly after a moment. The man’s smiling face came into her view, hisrge palm still resting on her shoulder, showing well-defined knuckles, and a small red mole at the base of his thumb.
“Third Lady, we meet again,” he said leisurely, teasing his prey.
“…Hi, what a coincidence,” Shen Wan replied as she turned to face him. The man’s hand fell away, hanging at his side. She put on a smile, but her eyes remained guarded and vignt, a glint of wariness passing through them, a detail that Quan Hanting happened to catch.
“It is quite a coincidence.” The man approached. “Perhaps it’s fate bringing us together again—out of all the ces in Huaxia, why do we keep crossing paths?”
Shen Wan lifted her gaze and found herself locked into the man’s deep pupils as if her soul was being drawn in.
She tilted her head slightly and, being the first to look away, gave the man a distant profile view.
The youngdy had fair, porcin-like skin, a sharp chin, long eyshes with a graceful curl, and lips with a delicate shade of rosy pink.
Slender and graceful, there was no part of her that didn’t exude elegance.
It should have been an endearing appearance, like a soft little white rabbit, innocent and harmless. However, her eyes inappropriately reflected sharpness, as if concealing two swords, directly undermining this softness.
Her chin lifted slightly, tracing a defiant curve in the air—this was the real her!
She didn’t need anyone’s pity or protection; she had her own ws and armor.
“What do you want?” She gazed into the distance, her eyes as indifferent as water when not smiling.
Quan Hanting reached out and, without waiting for Shen Wan to struggle, held her chin. His touch was warm, and his rough fingertips closely caressed her delicate skin, a softness he had never experienced before.
“This question should being from me, right? Miss Shen from the prestigious Shen family travels all the way to Beihai, but she disguises herself as a teahouse waitress, pouring tea for others. What’s the meaning of this?”
“This is what we call cosy, it’s like acting and dressing up as a character. Do you understand?” Shen Wan endured the difort in her chin as she was forced to face the man. There was a strong scent of smoke lingering around her, emanating from him. “Indeed, someone of Sixth Lord’s age probably wouldn’t grasp the games young girls y.”
“What kind of age is ‘this kind of age’?” His eyes narrowed slightly, and his tone instantly turned dangerous.
“Certainly, it refers to reaching a more mature age. After all, I did address you as uncle.”
“Mocking me for being old?”
“Aren’t you old?” Shen Wan retorted..
