Chapter 11: A Scum Asking for Reconciliation is Just Asking to be Insulted

The next two days were calm and quiet.

Song Zhizhi did not sense anything out of the ordinary from Nie Wenzhi and Nie Xiaofei, nor did they ask her about her marriage with Ji Baijian. All of them got along just as before. Nie Wenzhi still showered Song Zhizhi with a spring-like warmth.

It made Song Zhizhi feel like her rebirth might just be a dream, and that Nie Wenzhi and Nie Xiaofei were both good people.

    But of course.

    It was not a dream.

She received a text message from Yi Wenhan early that morning. The content of the text message was extremely cringey and melodramatic. He basically said that they had known each other for more than 3 years, that he could not let go of the love between them, that it should not end like this, that he was really sad, that he loved her very much, and that he hoped they could meet up to talk about it properly.

Song Zhizhi looked coldly upon the words that were meant to be touching. So… Nie Wenzhi’s first move was to ask Yi Wenhan to reconcile with her. This was indeed the best move she could make. It would just turn into a typical case of a couple reconciliating after having a fight. She would not need to expose herself.

Song Zhizhi did not reply to Yi Wenhan. She put her phone aside and ignored it for the whole day.

Before this, all it would take was a single phone call or a single message from him, and she would spend a lot of effort dressing up to meet him. The memory of it mocked Song Zhizhi now.

That night, Yi Wenhan called Song Zhizhi. She took a nce at her phone and silenced it. She then picked out her favourite nightgown and went to take a shower.

When she came out of the shower, she picked up her phone and saw that, besides Yi Wenhan’s missed calls, there were also a lot of calls from Nie Xiaofei.

Song Zhizhi thought about it and called Nie Xiaofei back.

“Why aren’t you answering the phone, sis?!” Nie Xiaofei’s disgruntled voice came from the other side.

“What’s the matter?” Song Zhizhi’s tone was icy.

“Yi Wenhan is drowning out his sorrows with alcohol. He won’t stop drinking. Why can’t you meet with him and talk it over properly, sis? You broke up with him out of the blue like that; of course he can’t ept it. How did you be like this?” Nie Xiaofei reproached Song Zhizhi with a heavy tone.

Song Zhizhi pursed her lips, “Where is he?”

“I’ll send you the location. You shoulde over and check up on him,” Nie Xiaofei hung up the phone the moment she finished speaking.

Song Zhizhi received Nie Xiaofei’s location sharing. After hesitating for a little while, she changed her clothes and asked Uncle Zhang to drive her.

She reached the destination half an hourter.

Song Zhizhi walked calmly to a private room in the bar. She was interested to see what kind of show Yi Wenhan would put on.

    She pushed open the door.

A loud bang suddenly erupted the moment the door opened. It was the sound of party crackers.

Confetti fell from the air. Yi Wenhan, dressed in a ck suit, stepped forward. The dim ambience added to the romantic atmosphere.

    So…

I appeared that Yi Wenhan nned to propose in public.

He was that confident she would say yes? There were quite a number of people present, including many of her college friends as well as Nie Xiaofei.

Song Zhizhi remained calm the entire time.

In her previous life, they had known each other for 9 years, from her sophomore year in college to her 6th year after graduating college. All that time, Yi Wenhan had never once said he would marry her. When she asionally hinted at it, he would ignore the hints. When sheid it out clearly, he would sidestep the question and say he wanted to achieve something in his career first.

And when he had achieved something in his career, he pushed her off the rooftop.

Song Zhizhi stared at Yi Wen Han indifferently. It turned out that… to make him marry her, all she needed to do was break up with him.

“I know this is really sudden, Zhizhi, but you said before that you hope we can get married right after graduating college. I took those words very seriously,” Yi Wenhan said emotionally.

    “Really?” Song Zhizhi mumbled.

“So…” Yi Wenhan got down on one knee. He held out a box in his hand and opened it.

A ring was lying inside. It was a tinum ring with no diamonds, and it was not an expensive brand either.

Song Zhizhi simply looked on in silence.

“Will you marry me, Zhizhi? I swear I’ll take care of you for the rest of my life.”

Song Zhizhi was indifferent. She calmly said, “How do you n to feed me after we get married?”

Yi Wenhan stared at her, dumbfounded. He was not expecting that to be the first thing Song Zhizhi said.

He had always thought that, as long as he took the initiative, Song Zhizhi would enthusiastically respond. He never thought Song Zhizhi would put up a fight.

Song Zhizhi continued, “You just graduated from college and are still preparing to take the exam to be a Financial Commercial Agent. You’re currently renting a room and have no ie. Your only savings are the student grants you applied for in college. How do we survive after we get married? Do we squander your savings or ask my parents to support us?”

    Yi Wenhan’s expression changed slightly.

“I used to think you were a mature person, but at this moment, I’m really disappointed in you,” Song Zhizhi said without showing any mercy, “Marriage is not child’s y. It’s not something that concerns only the two of us. You propose before you even meet with my parents. More importantly, we’ve never even dated, so how can you suddenly ask me to marry you? I truly doubt your sincerity, Yi Wenhan.”

Yi Wenhan was rendered speechless by Song Zhizhi. Because he wanted to force Song Zhizhi to break off her engagement as soon as possible, it was true that they had not established a formal rtionship, and it wasing back to bite him in the ass. Moreover, Song Zhizhi’s mockery of him not having achieved anything was putting him in an awkward situation.

Nie Xiaofei, who was watching from the side, was simrly surprised by Song Zhizhi’s aggressive attitude. She could not believe how much Song Zhizhi had changed. She used to do anything Yi Wenhan asked. Was that just an act?

Nie Xiaofei could not help saying in a loud voice, “Yi Wenhan has only made such an ill-considered move because you suddenly said you’re marrying Ji Baijian out of the blue. He’s only acting rashly because he loves you and is afraid of losing you.”

Song Zhizhi sneered. “Before this, when I wanted to start a rtionship with Yi Wenhan properly, how did Yi Wenhan reject me? He said he didn’t want to be “the other man”. But now that I’m sincere about marrying Ji Baijian, he’s suddenly doing something like this. Why aren’t you that concerned with being a home wrecker now, Yi Wenhan?”

    Yi Wenhan’s face stiffened.

He had truly been beaten ck and blue by Song Zhizhi’s ridicule.

Song Zhizhi added tly, “I always thought you’re a very considerate person. I can’t believe you’d do something that would make things so difficult for me.”

“Zhizhi, I’m only doing this because I love you so much. We don’t have to get married right away.” Yi Wenhan stood up from the ground and tried to take Song Zhizhi’s hand.

    Song Zhizhi subtly avoided it.

Yi Wenhan was feeling a little awkward. “Give me some time, Zhizhi. I’ll definitely make you happy.”
