Chapter 650: Definitely heed the words of wife number 649.
Wen Ran shook her head, making an effort to maintain her smile, “Brother, there’s no reason. Don’t overthink it.”
Wen Jin sighed once.
In the end, he let go of her hand, “Alright then, since you don’t want to say anything, I won’t ask. But Ranran, if you don’t want to live there alone, juste home.”
Wen Jin knew that if Wen Ran didn’t want to say anything, he would not be able to get anything out of her.
**
That day, she had plenty of work to do and Wen Ran didn’t have time to think about Mo Xiuchen, let alone to be sentimental or sad.
At noon, she entertained a client with Wen Jin.
In the evening, Qing Feng and Qing Yang came to pick her up from work. After having dinner at home, Wen Ran went upstairs, took a shower, sat on the couch, ready to continue watching her show.
Her phone rang, seeing who was calling, her eyebrows and eyes instantly softened with warmth and joy: “Hello!”
“Ranran, have you had dinner yet?”
Over the phone, Mo Xiuchen’s deep and maic voice came, carrying three parts warmth, two parts humor, and one part longing.
Wen Ran gave a lightugh, leaning onto the armrest, her voice soft and seductive, “Finished eating, I just took a shower. About to watch some TV. What about you? What are you doing now?”
In fact, just having such a conversation over the phone was also just fine.
“I’m still at a dinner party, I sneaked out to call you.”
On the other end of the line, beside Mo Xiuchen’s voice, no other noise could be heard. Wen Ran was slightly surprised, but soon understood. He had just started his work at thepany today; dinner parties were unavoidable.
“Don’t drink, and don’t smoke too much.”
Wen Ran couldn’t help advising him. Upon hearing her words, Mo Xiuchen chuckled over the phone, delightfully promising, “I’ll definitelyply with my wife’s words. No smoking, no drinking.”
Wen Ran alsoughed along with him, under the shining light of the chandelier, a subtle glow glossed over her pale skin, radiant and enchanting.
“Alright, since you’re at a gathering, you should quickly return.”
Wen Ran urged in a yful manner.
“Ranran, don’t you miss me?” Mo Xiuchen asked discontentedly. He wanted to talk to her more.
Wen Ran answered sweetly, “Of course I miss you, I miss you every moment. From the moment you stepped into the airport this morning, I started to regret. But what can I do, I was the one who agreed to you going to City C. I can’t break after just one day and ask you toe back.”
More than expressing her longing, her words seemed more like a tease.
Mo Xiuchen agreed with her logic, pretending to think deeply and said, “Hmm, that seems right, I have decided to put into action what you said in the car this morning, I won’t call you tomorrow, or the day after, until you miss me very badly, then I would call you, or you could take the initiative and call me.”
“Sure, today the pharmaceutical factory had a batch of orders brought forward unexpectedly, and the workers have to work overtime for the next few days, I’ll be quite busy. You don’t have to call me every day.”
Wen Ran moved her legs up onto the sofa, her whole body in a semi-reclining position.
“Take care of your health, remember to take your medicine every day.”
Mo Xiuchen reminded her worriedly. She needed to take her medication daily, and it would take quite a while for her to fully recover.
“I know.”
Wen Ran gave a smallugh and softly replied.
After she finished talking to Mo Xiuchen, Wen Ran sat alone and spaced out for a while, then dialed her father Gu Yan’s number.
The phone rang for a few rings, Gu Yan’s voice traveled over from the other side of the Pacific, “Ranran, why did you think of calling me?”
Wen Ran turned down the TV volume, smiling as she asked, “Dad, when are youing back?”
“There’s a research project here that I can’t leave behind yet, anything wrong, Ranran? Do you have any problems?”
There was a note of concern in Gu Yan’s voice, Wen Ran lightly pursed her lips, speaking softly, “No, I just miss you.”
“Haha, dad misses you a lot too. Ranran, how are you feeling these days, nothing ufortable, right?”
Gu Yanughed quite happily over the phone, after hisughter he then asked with concern.
For some strange reason, upon hearing Gu Yan’s usual words of concern, Wen Ran inexplicably felt a twinge of redness around her eyes. As she spoke with her father on the phone, the image that appeared in front of her was the handsome face of Mo Xiuchen.
She tightened her grip on the phone, her short silence causing Gu Yan to worry a bit, “Ranran, what’s wrong?”
Wen Ran took a deep breath to suppress her emotions, her tone light and carefree, “Nothing, I’m fine. By the way, dad, Xiuchen went to City C today.”
“Oh? Why did Xiuchen go to City C?”
Gu Yan seemed to be in the dark, there was confusion in his tone.
Wen Ran stood up from the couch, walked toward the French windows, and looked out at the night sky through the ss, speaking in a soft voice, “Xiuchen, Luo Haofeng, and Qin Mu have apany in City C that others have been managing. Now, he resigned from MS Group and went to City C.”
“Ranran, how are you adjusting to being alone in G City?”
Upon hearing her words, Gu Yan asked with concern.
Wen Ranughed softly, “I’m fine. What’s there not to adjust to? Xiuchen gave me the keys to his grandmother’s countryside house. It’s cherry season now, I can go anytime. Dad, do you want some cherries? I can air-ship them over to you.”
Since Wen Ran and Gu Yan recognized each other, actually, they very seldom had conversations like this.
Most of the time, she was closer with Gu Kai, and due to Gu Yan’s busy work schedule, he didn’t have the time to chat with her like this.
But now, she didn’t want to hang up the call.
It seemed that as long as she found someone to talk to, she could stop herself from losing herself in thoughts. As to why she specifically chose her not-so-close father to talk to, she didn’t want to think too much about it.
“Haha, there’s no need for the air shipment, I’ve already epted your good intentions.”
Gu Yan seemed to be in a great mood, it appeared that he was very pleased that Wen Ran had called him and had said so much.

Wen Ran continued to describe to him the things that she and Mo Xiuchen did in A City after returning from D Country, along with her current work at the pharmaceutical factory.
In the end, she asked somewhat tentatively, “Dad, can I call you often in the future? Don’t worry, I will try to keep it short as much as possible, to not disturb your research.”
Gu Yan hesitated for a moment, but quickly replied, “Absolutely, Ranran. I am very happy when you call me. Rest assured, I always keep my phone on, you can call me anytime.”
Wen Ran seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, and said cheerfully, “That’s good, I was afraid that you would say that I was disturbing your work.”
“However, long-distance calls are expensive, so make sure to get Xiuchen to reimburse you.”
Gu Yanughed heartily over the phone.
Wen Ran readily agreed: “No problem, I’ll get Xiuchen to pay for the call.”
