    Chi Ming noticed Qin Zhen’s presence and slowly looked up. Their eyes met, and an unspoken tension filled the air.


    They remained locked in this standoff, but Qin Zhen was the first to break eye contact. He turned and walked away. When he reached the ground floor, he threw the dinner box into the trash can. As he got into his car, the image of Shen Qingyue resting against Chi Ming’s shoulder kept reying in his mind, refusing to fade away.


    Qin Zhen had never been so close to her before, yet now he saw her in the embrace of another man. He couldn’t quite describe what he felt, only a sense of suffocation in his chest that he could not shake off. Just then, his phone rang. It was Wei Jiu’er.
