    “How are you feeling? Does it still hurt?” Xiao Mohan asked, his deep ck eyes studying her flushing face with tender concern.


    Upon his questioning, Gu Chuyan ced her hand over her face, unable to meet his gaze.


    “I’m sorry for hurting you! It won’t happen again,” Xiao Mohan spoke gently, lowering his voice as if afraid he might frighten her with a louder volume.


    His voice brimmed with care and anxiety as he sat upright suddenly, somewhat flustered.


    He furrowed his brows; the pain she was in weighed heavily on his heart, making mm reel sorrowful.


    “I’ll be right back,” the man said hesitantly in a deep voice.


    Looking around the empty bedroom, Gu Chuyan felt a sense of surrealness. If not for the physical pain, she would have suspected she was dreaming.

    Xiao Mohan hurried out of the room, quickly returning with the urgency of a man on a mission.


    “No, I’m fine now.” Upon seeing him, Gu Chuyan was spooked. She grabbed the nket tightly, her eyes filled with fear as she scooted away from him.


    Xiao Mohan reached out and touched her shoulder and said in a deep voice, “I’ll put some medicine on you, and you will feel better soon. Good girl, listen to me.”


    As she burrowed herself into the nket, he turned his back on her and gazed out the floor-to-ceiling window, taking in the night sights.


    “Are you feeling better now?” Xiao Mohan asked.


    Gu Chuyan looked at him, her eyes going wide as she remembered something. “Mohan, is your illness cured?” she asked.


    “Wen Shui said your severe illness is just getting better. Did you go for treatment?” she asked, her gaze fixated on him as if trying to see through something.

    He hadn’t anticipated her linking the two incidents. Her imagination had indeed run wild.


    “Hmm.” To avoid disappointing her, Xiao Mohan indulged her with a nod, his deep eyes filled with affection as he looked at her.

    Inside the luxurious mansion, Gu Miaoting was applying heavy makeup. She picked a ck dress, revealing her sexy shoulders.


    She elegantly walked up to the mirror, twirling a strand of her curled hair with her fingers. Her eyes twinkled as she applied vibrant lipstick.

    On hearing this, she turned slightly, looking at the broadcast.

    “Miss, do you need a private room?” the lobby manager stepped forward to ask reverently.


    “Yes.” She replied, walking arrogantly towards the elevator.


    The manager ran forward to press the elevator button for her, watching as she entered. She turned slightly, her hand gracefullynding on her neck, flicking her hair back.
