In a lab somewhere neither here nor there, a middle-aged man and a teenage girl stood facing a strange vehicle. The man, Dr. Fukunaga, wore a white lab coat. The girl, Yuki Akimoto, a black full-body suit.


    "Are you ready?"


    "Yeah."


    Dr. Fukunaga handed the girl a helmet and a strange wristwatch. She hopped into the vehicle and tried to close the door, but the doctor held it open.


    "Find out what happened that day."


    "I''ll try."


    Yuki closed the door. She pressed several buttons in quick succession. The engine revved up and with a bright flash, the vehicle vanished.

    "Godspeed."


    Dr. Fukunaga stood for a few minutes staring at nothing, and then left the room and entered one that looked to be a dining area. In the middle of the room was a table where two photographs had been placed. He sat there and examined them closely.


    The photograph on the left was of a school and was dated October 9th, 1984. The photograph on the right was taken from the same angle, but there were trees and empty space in place of a building. It was dated October 10th, 1984.
