At the underground basement of the biology research center.
Jin Xiann, who was answering her phone, stood in front of the window of her office. She looked awful. The ones on the other side of the phone were criticizing her. Jin Xiann did not try to defend herself. She just listened quietly.
After a moment, Jin Xiann hung up. Her expressions did not reflect her mood clearly. Someone was knocking on the door.
“Come in, please!” Jin Xiann said.
The door was pushed open. Jin Xiann saw Jin Shengpinging in. He walked in on his crutch and shut the door behind him.
“They were ming you?” Jin Shengping asked her with his voice kept low. He could read her looks.
Jin Xiann raised her head. She was about to reply when she acted surprised. “Who are you?”
Jin Xiann saw through the disguise instantly. She must have been on high alert. Lu Jia’er, who was disguised as Jin Shengping, no longer hid behind the cover. She replied using her own voice, “It is me!”
“Professor Lu Jia’er!” Jin Xiann recognized her voice at once.
“Yes.” Lu Jia’er did not try to deny it. She had torn off the mask Colin used and adjusted it before she came to Jin Xiann.
“Where is my father?” Since Lu Jia’er adopted Jin Shengping’s look, Jin Xiann became worried about Jin Shengping’s safety at once.
“I knocked him out. Let him sleep for a moment!” Lu Jia’er stepped forward on the crutch to Jin Xiann’s desk.
“My father had it wrong. I can’t believe that he had been stressed that you were not aggressive enough.” Jin Xiann snorted.
Lu Jia’er replied to that with a cold smile. “I was forced to do that.”
“What is your intention by pretending to be my father?” Jin Xiann looked at the so-called “Jin Shengping” in front of her.
“To beg you.” Lu Jia’er said three words.
Jin Xiann stared at “his” face. “Beg me?”
“To beg you to free us!” Lu Jia’er borated.
“Who is us? You and Xiangdong?” Jin Xiann raised her chin a bit.
“Yes!” Lu Jia’er nodded.
Jin Xiannughed. “You are carrying coals to Newcastle!”
“What?” Lu Jia’er stared at Jin Xiann.
“You were not under any constraints. Why would you ask me to free you?” Jin Xiann imed.
Lu Jia’er looked at her with suspicion, “Do you expect that I will buy that?”
“If we want to confine you, we would have implementedprehensive surveince measures. If that were the case, do you think you could have the chance of disguising yourself as my father anding to me?” Jin Xiann asked in reply.
Now that Lu Jia’er thought about it, she was not under strong surveince at all and the same could be said about Jin Xiangdong. However, Lu Jia’er did not readily agree to that. “Maybe, that could be a trap you set up for us on purpose.”
Jin Xiann protested, “Professor Lu, I think you are suffering from a delusion of persecution!”
Lu Jia’er looked at Jin Xiann’s face andughed a coldugh. “Don’t worry. I am in a quite healthy mental state. I have spelled out my intention ofing here. Just tell me whether you are willing to help me or not.”
“Professor Lu, I don’t think you are begging me. It’s more like you are ordering me.” Jin Xiann smiled.
Lu Jia’er had been able to keep herposure since she came in here. However, as Jin Xiann said so, Lu Jia’er leaned forward to Jin Xiann and pressured her. “Professor Jin, I don’t have time to waste my breath here. Are you going to help us or not? Just say it! Besides, at the moment, you must be more conflicted than anyone else!”
Jin Xiann gazed at Lu Jia’er, pretending that she had everything under control. “What am I conflicted about?”
Lu Jia’er grinned a wicked grin, “I am your father’s life’s work and Ace is yours. He and I are your experiments, for sure, but Ace is different from me. He is a gene clone. Both his looks and his intelligence are identical to the original person. Once the original persones back, there is practically no chance for Ace to exist further. Since we know the truth, as for me, I may have a chance to leave the research center after you delete my memory. But there is no such chance for Ace, ever. You must know this better than I do.”
