Rachel
Sitting there, in that hard, ufortable chair, was a test of mental endurance that I never imagined I would face. The oppressive silence was only interrupted by asional murmurs from the henchmen and the distant echo of Veronica''s shoes as she walked around the room. It wasn''t just the physical difort that consumed me; hunger and thirst were beginning to affect my reasoning.
I had already lost track of how long I had been there, but my body was beginning to show signs of exhaustion. My throat was dry, and my mind wandered to memories that I tried to suppress. Vincenzo. I wondered where he was now. Did he know what had happened to me? Was he okay?
From where I was, I could see Veronica talking to her henchmen. Her words were muffled by the distance, but it was clear that she was in control of everything. The men listened to her attentively, nodding their heads from time to time. It was strange how she couldmand the environment with such ease, as if she owned everything and everyone.
My hunger and thirst were unbearable at that moment, and I knew I had to do something about it. I gathered my courage, raised my head and called her name, my voice sounding firmer than I expected.
"Veronica!" I eximed, immediately catching her eye.
She stopped talking to the henchmen and turned towards me. Her cold eyes analyzed me, as if trying to decipher my intentions.
"What is it, Rachel?" she asked, crossing her arms and tilting her head slightly.
"I''m hungry and thirsty." My voice was more restrained now, but still firm. "But just a little water would be enough."
For a few seconds, she remained silent, just watching me. I didn''t know what was going on in her mind at that moment, but her gaze was intense, as if she was trying to decide if it was worth granting my request. Then, without saying a word, she made a slight movement with her head, signaling to one of her henchmen.
The man nodded and left the room, probably in search of water. Veronica looked at me again, and I took the opportunity to tease her.
"Maybe you''re not as bad as everyone says." My voice carried a clear irony, and I knew I was taking a risk.
She smiled, but it wasn''t a friendly smile. It was sarcastic, full of contempt.
"Don''t be fooled, Rachel," she replied. "I just need you alive... for now."
That made me swallow hard. The calm I was trying to maintain began to crumble, but I didn''t let her see how much her words affected me. I kept my gaze fixed on hers, trying to appear defiant. "You gain nothing by keeping me here," I retorted.
Sheughed, a short, sharpugh that echoed through the room.
"On the contrary, my dear." Veronica approached slowly, each step echoing on the floor. "I gain a lot by getting you out of my way." Her words carried an implicit threat, but what came next was even more disturbing. "Vincenzo must have already shown you his skills." She smiled mischievously, and for a moment I was confused, not understanding the insinuation.
It took me a few seconds to process what she meant, but then I realized the double meaning in her words, and my face immediately heated up.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked, trying to maintain myposure, but already feeling my heart racing.
"Don''t y dumb, Rachel," she continued, leaning slightly toward me. "Has he ever tied you up?"
My face turned even redder. I turned my face away, trying to avoid her gaze, but it was impossible to ignore what she was saying.
"Has he ever made you roll your eyes and drool?" she teased, and I felt a mixture of shame and anger rise inside me.
I couldn''t answer. My mind was in a whirlwind, and all I wanted was to get out of there as quickly as possible.
"Do you know why?" Veronica continued, her voice now low and almost whispered. "Because he''s already done all of this to me. And I want it back."
My heart stopped for a moment. The way she spoke, with such certainty and desire, made me understand how dangerous she was. It wasn''t just an obsession; it was madness.
"Do you think Vincenzo wille back to you?" I asked, finally finding my voice. "He hates you. He''ll never forgive you for what you''re doing."
She just smiled, as if my words were insignificant. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
"Everything has its time, Rachel," she replied. "And maybe you won''t even be here to see it when it happens."
Before I could retort, the henchman came back with a ss of water and handed it to Veronica. She looked at me and walked slowly over to where I was sitting, holding the ss as if it were a prize I should deserve. "Here''s your water," she said, holding the ss out to me.
I took the ss carefully, trying to hide how much my hands were shaking. I took a sip., but the tension in the room made even that difficult.
As I drank, my mind was racing. I tried to think of a way out of this situation, but it seemed impossible. Veronica was smart, cruel, and had all the resources in her favor. Still, a small spark of hope persisted inside me.
I looked at Veronica again, analyzing her carefully. She was so close, but at the same time she seemed unattainable, like a wall impossible to cross.
"You don''t have to do this, Veronica," I said, my voice calmer now. "You can choose a different path."
Sheughed, shaking her head in disbelief.
"You really don''t understand, do you?" she replied. "This is the only path I know."
I didn''t know what else to say. I just continued to drink the water, trying to regain some strength while my mind filled with thoughts of how far she would be willing to go.
Veronica was dangerous, but I knew that somehow, I had to find a way to ovee her. For myself. For Vincenzo. For everyone she had hurt.
