Alice looked at her bandaged arm and quietly replied, "No."

It had been Joshua who had stood up to her.

To calm her nerves, Alice drank some water.

"Monica, I''m going to the Yates mansion tomorrow."

    Monica''s response was sharp. "Why?"

    Alice briefly outlined her n.

He noted Joshua''s persistence, which oddly worked in his favor at the moment. In his quest for fast and effective testing, participation was essential.

Monica''s concern was evident. "What if something unexpected happens? You''repletely alone."

Alice gave a small giggle. “Staying away doesn''t make your life any easier. It’s worth the risk.”

She knew she had to escape the vicious cycle of revenge. The longer she persisted, the more damaging it would be to her friends.

Monica, epting Alicia''s decision, offered her help. "What can I do to help?"

After a brief pause, Alice replied, "Could you find me some books?"

"What kind of books are you looking for?"

After the call, Alice took a shower, but in the process identally aggravated a burn blister. The pain was sharp and reminded her of the incident at the restaurant.

When the police had arrived that night, chaos had broken out as the crowd dispersed. Only Caden had stepped forward, calmly soothing his burn with ice from a te.

His simple act had affected her deeply, providing unexpectedfort in the midst of the confusion.

Back in the present, he applied more ointment to his arm.

That night, as shey awake, events reyed in her mind. Uneasy, she finally sent a message to Caden: “Thank you very much.” Only after sending it did she realize the typo.

Overwhelmed, she sighed heavily and massaged her temples.

Caden''s message came after a brief pause: "Thinking about me? What exactly?"

"I ended up deleting the message by mistake," Alicia exined.

“That seems like a cliché way to admit your feelings,” Caden texted back.

Alice opened her eyes in surprise.

    Admit feelings?

Caden had a gift for saying things that overwhelmed her.

Even through the digital screen, she could almost imagine his mocking smile.

He was as charming as he was infuriating.

Alice rubbed her hot cheeks, silently scolding herself. She assured herself that it had only been a typo: everyone made mistakes.

Once she had regained herposure, she replied, “Thank you for taking care of my arm tonight.”

“One sentence? That''s all the thanks I get? It seems insincere,” Caden replied.

    She understood his point.

"I''ll make sure my thanks aren''t just words. You can count on it," he replied.

At first, Caden smiled at his message.

But then a sudden memory crossed his mind, and his smile faded. I put the phone aside, bored.

Alice''s next message made her phone vibrate. "Send me your address and I''ll mail you a thank you gift."

“No need. Keep it,” Caden replied.

    Alice was bewildered.

    I felt an inexplicable chill.

    What was going on?

    Didn''t you want a gift?

    His unpredictability left her baffled.

Worried that he might use it against herter, Alice decided to send him a gift anyway.

Caden woke up at six, he had already been working for hours when Hank arrived.

“Mr. “Ward, your breakfast is ready,” Hank announced, cing the food and a bag on the table. “There''s also a package from a local pharmacy. Are you okay, Mr. Ward?”

Caden looked up, curious. “Who sent this?”

“It’s confidential—no details avable,” Hank replied, opening the package. He revealed a box of medications, and thebel made him freeze in surprise.

Hank''s eyes widened in shock. "Mr. Ward, it''s risky to use this medicine without caution. It could be harmful."

Caden''s gaze slowly shifted from Hank to the box of Viagra in front of him.

    He was also surprised.

It was the same Viagra that Alicia had given him that afternoon.
