    Chapter 78:

    ? ? ? ? ?

Caden smiled as he noticed that Alicia really believed him. “You can keep looking for him when you get home. There’s no rush.”

It took Alice a moment to realize she had been tricked. She rolled her eyes in annoyance.

Caden looked at a nearby spot. “Do you still have time to argue with me?” he said in a level tone. “Mrs. Gray is about to walk out the door. Didn''t you just defend her? Aren’t you going to take this opportunity to take credit for it?”

Alice turned towards the door. Her gaze fell on Randolph and Rachel, who were walking out together and seemed very close.

Moments ago, Rachel had looked utterly pitiful, but now she was beaming with joy at a simple gesture from Randolph. Alicia''s expression instantly turned cold.

"Trying to take credit now would be a disaster, don''t you think?" he said.

Randolph must have been delighted with her.

At that moment, Rachel was lost in her happiness and certainly wouldn''t listen to Alicia''s advice.

Caden smiled and said, “You catch on quickly.” Alicia felt a little constrained.

After all the bullying Rachel had hardened, a single touch from Randolph had made her feel overwhelmingly happy. Aliciaughed at herself. Before the divorce, Joshua had asionally made an effort to cheer her up, driven by guilt. In those days, she felt a genuine sense of happiness. Did she seem just as foolish to those who knew the truth?

Taking a deep breath, she looked around for the temporary actors. She grabbed a bag of ice and headed toward them. The group of young people gathered around a table near the back door looked up as Alicia approached. The man in blue was the first to stand.

"How have we been doing?" I have asked.

Alice responded with a smile. “Very well. Your performance was better than I expected.” She quickly assessed the face of the woman in white. It still had a reddish hue.

“Use this ice pack to relieve the pain,” he said as he handed it to her.

The woman smiled shyly. “It''s nothing. “It was hard, but it didn’t hurt.”

Seeing the eager and sincere expressions of the young workers, Alice couldn''t help but smile back. She had initially promised them $10,000 each, but her satisfaction led her to add another $5,000 each. Thus, all four of them received $15,000. She transferred the funds directly to them.

They burst with joy, hug her and kiss her in gratitude.

“You''re doing charity work? You’re amazing.” Alice chuckled.

"My mother used to do charity work," she said proudly. "Honestly, I''m much more stingy than she was."

The woman in white, who had a great fondness for money, hugged Alice tightly and nted another kiss on her cheek. The woman in pink joined in as well.

When the man leaned in to kiss her, Alice held up her hand to stop him. “Let’s not get carried away.” He smiled shyly. “I''m sorry. “I’m just so happy.”

Alice had other things to attend to, so she waved her hand. “I have to go now.”

Across the street, Rachel stood in the jewelry store, watching the scene outside through the ss, taking in everything that had just happened. She watched the group of young people jumping up and down in excitement.

“What are you looking at?” Randolph shouted. “Come here and pick something out. “I’ll buy you anything you want.”

Rachel took her hand and pointed to the group of young people outside. “Randolph, look at that.”

Although he felt annoyed, he was intrigued by what it was, so he took a closer look.

"Aren''t they the same ones who caused trouble before?"

“Yes,” Rachel replied. “Why are they suddenly wearing party uniforms?”

They quickly realized that the ruckus earlier had been organized by someone. Randolph''s expression darkened as he realized that he had been made fun of.

“Who organized this?” I have grownled. “Was it the host of the party?”

“I think it was Alice,” Rachel replied. She remembered seeing Alice transferring money to them earlier.

Randolph didn''t expect it to be Alice.

"What do you have against me?" he asked, his expression grim.

Rachel felt equally confused. She had always had a good opinion of Alicia. However, today''s events seemed excessive.Belongs to N?velDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Randolph''s anger was appeased as he quickly regained hisposure. “She’s Joshua’s ex-wife. Do you think she has some hidden agenda?”

Rachel replied, “She is very close to him. What motive could she have?”

“You can never be sure what someone is thinking,” Randolph replied with a disdainful snort, clearly not in the mood to press the issue. “Alicia is not as naive as she seems. I''ll have to ask Joshua about her. And you, be careful around her from now on.”

Rachel naturally agreed with him. She nodded and said, “Understood.”

Randolph patted his hand and smiled. “Come on, let’s go pick out some more jewels. “You’ve had a hard day.”

As Alice walked back to the party to collect her belongings, she passed Randolph and Rachel. Randolph kept his polite expression.

"Miss Bet, it seems you havee alone. Why don''t youe with me? I''ll take you."

Alice noticed the forced smile on his face and immediately felt wary. She replied politely, “Thank you, Mr. Gray, but I have already arranged a carriage.”

Randolph wasn''t about to let it go so easily. I have needed answers about today''s situation.

“Cancel your trip. What''s the problem, Ms. Bet? I offer to take you myself, and you refuse?”
