Chapter 95:
? ? ? ? ?
Caden questioned her, “Are you afraid of him?”
Alice did not deny her fear. “Randolph is not a good man. “Many people fear him.”
In her vulnerable state, it seemed like anyone could take advantage of her.
His ability to resist was not yet strong.
Caden, speaking calmly, said, “You''re terrified just thinking about meeting them. Do you really think you can help Joshua with his problems?”
Alice was shocked, having momentarily forgotten her made-up story.
I have hesitated. “Courage is not constant, it varies ording to circumstances.”
Cadenughed knowingly. “So fear has gotten the better of you now.”
“Yes,” Alicia admitted, trying to keep herposure. “Fear isn''t permanent. “You might get over it soon,” Caden assured her. “Don’t worry, Randolph isn’t going to eat you.”
Alice remained silent.
They both remained silent, but the call continued.
Alicia sensed that there was an unresolved issue, but she was having trouble articting it.
Caden also remained silent.
Finally Alice broke the silence. “What''s all the silence about?”
Caden, losing his patience, bluntly dered, "I''m waiting for you to beg me."
She paused, surprised. “Who said I was going to beg?”
“You''re hesitant because you need my support at the Grays'', right?” Caden pointed out sharply. “Randolph might be aware of something, so he poses a threat. You’re looking for protection, right?”
Alice replied defiantly, “It was you who informed me about him. “If he seeks revenge, you can’t just walk away.”
Cadenughed at the seriousness. To him, Randolph was irrelevant. “Yes, he is a dangerous man. I ampletely petrified,” he said sarcastically.
Alicia stood there speechless, her anxiety palpable as she thrashed around in the sheet. Caden had hit the target with precision.
Alice was speechless.
Caden kindly offered, “Should I ask Joshua to apany you?”
Alice quickly intervened: “No!”
"Why not? What''s wrong with me seeing your efforts?"
"I want it to be a surprise. He doesn''t have to know yet."
Caden sneered softly, “How touching.”
Embarrassed, Alice felt the conversation had to end. Why did she call him? She knew he wouldn''t just offer to help.
"I''m going to hang up," he muttered.
Unbeknownst to Caden, his tone sounded charming.
Caden''s hearing seemed momentarily dulled.
He grabbed a bottle of strong wine from the bar counter and drank it quickly.
The alcohol burned his throat and ignited a heat in his heart.
He was unable to stifle the inner turmoil.
Meanwhile, Joshua wasing out of the shower in another house.
Lilliana put her arms around him.
“Why do youe home sote these days?” she asked him. “You''re always at work and youe home toote. “We hardly spend any time together,” hemented.
Joshua pinched her yfully.
"You''re pregnant, try not to get too upset."
Lilliana lightly pped his chest. “I''m not nervous. “I just miss you,” she said.
Joshua felt theck of intimacy.
He could not seek sce from Alice, and Lilliana''s pregnancy made things worse. His spirits were visibly low.
Lilliana noticed his distraction. “What are you thinking about?” Are you thinking about something else?” she joked.
Joshua hesitated, but then discarded the idea.
“Someone else? Hardly.” I have quickly changed the subject.
"We are running out of my father''s medicine. It is rare, and only certain individuals, like Caden, can get it."
Lilliana sensed an underlying question. “Is Caden causing trouble again?”
"It''s always a potential problem as long as he''s around," Joshua confessed.
Lilliana calmed him by tracing patterns on his chest. “Don''t worry about the medicine. My father can fix something if Caden gets difficult. He’s manageable.”
Joshua rxed, reassured by her support.
"Lilliana, you always know what to say."
Lilliana''s eyes were sensual.
A few months into their pregnancy, Lilliana and Joshua had kept their physical intimacy at bay after a few brushes that nearly jeopardized the safety of the baby. As a result, they had recently adopted a more cautious approach.
“Joshua, I''ve taken care of you many times before. Isn’t it your turn?” she murmured, snuggling closer to him. Normally, Joshua wouldn''t hesitate in such circumstances.
However, today, as he reached under Lilliana''s clothes, he suddenly collected them.
This unexpected reaction caught him by surprise and made him let out a gasp.Content rights by N?velDr//ama.Org.
Lilliana was surprised.
She knew her attractiveness and knew that Joshua was in love with her physique, so her reaction was even more disconcerting.
“Does that disgust you?” she asked, her voice tinged with disbelief. “Joshua, does my pregnancy disgust you?” she asked, her anger growing.
Joshua was equally perplexed by his own reaction. He didn''t understand why he felt such a sudden change. Lilliana became angry and made to move to leave the bed.
Joshua, concerned for her well-being and that of her unborn child, was quick to reassure her: “I''m just tired today and I don''t feel well. “It has nothing to do with disgust.”
In her frustration, Lilliana pped him hard.
