Chapter 110:
? ? ? ? ?
Alice''s consciousness was wandering aimlessly. It was raining hard, and beneath the emergency building, a small figure was huddled tightly.
Alice walked over, curious to see who it could be. As soon as she saw him, her jaw dropped. It was Caden.
But this Caden was nothing like the man she knew. He always had an air of arrogance about him, greeting everyone with a cold, disdainful stare. He was constantly at odds with her.
Now Caden was kneeling in the rain, staring nkly at the hospital entrance. His body looked weak, pletely consumed by grief and despair. His face had lost all color under the downpour.
The wind blew hard, and she staggered. Alice could bear it no longer. She cried out, "Get out of the rain!"
But there was no response.
Caden stood where he was, still, like a statue. Alicia touched herself, realizing that her body had be transparent. As she tried to make sense of it, a group of people emerged from the hospital.
It was the Yates family.
The family servant held an umbre, keeping Joshua dry from the rain. Joshua walked with his parents, hand in hand, exuding an air of privilege.
When she saw Caden kneeling in the rain, a smug smile appeared on her face. She walked towards him, her steps confident.
“Caden,” Joshua shouted. “Stop kneeling. Your mother is dead.”
Alicia felt her anger rising inside her. Joshua''s smug expression made it worse.
“Don''t you understand?” Joshua taunted, walking over and kicking Caden. “Your mother is dead! Why are you still kneeling?”
Caden copsed to the ground after the kick.
Alice tried to reach out and help him, but her hands went right through him. Only then did she realize that she was powerless to help him.
As Joshua moved to kick Caden again, Alicia instinctively stepped in front of him. “Joshua, stop…” Before she could finish, her throat tightened and she suddenly vomited arge amount of water.
The pain brought her back to her senses. A sharp, painful sensation spread through her body, forcing her to moan. She struggled to open her eyes.
When her vision finally cleared, she saw the person in front of her: it was Caden.
Alice was stunned when she saw him. She could only stare at him in disbelief. The Caden in front of her did not look like the one in her dream. He looked older, more serious. His eyes held something she could not understand. Her thoughts scattered as she took his hand.
“Caden…” she whispered.
Caden stopped, but without a second thought, he pushed his hand away, without hesitation.
Alice froze. She wanted to speak, but the words wouldn''te out.
This was no longer a dream.
It was reality.
Here, Caden was irritable, unpredictable, quick to anger. He was not the same as the pitiful figure in her dream.Property of N?)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
“Is he conscious?” Someone asked, leaning closer.
Alicia was still in a daze. She slowly turned her head and realized that besides Caden, a group of people had gathered. The wealthydies were all there to check on her. Each one had a different expression, but none of them seemed really worried. They were here for the show.
The person who spoke was Rachel.
She was one of the suits.
Caden wiped the water from his clothes, his face unreadable. “Do whatever you want,” he said tly, before walking away.
Alicia didn''t expect Caden to act so distant, and it left her confused.
“What the hell is wrong with him?” she thought, her frustration mounting. “I''m already in a terrible state, and he''s still so petnt? What the hell is wrong with him?” She cursed inwardly.
Rachel immediately called an ambnce, her face covered in worry as she approached the bed.
“Mrs. Bet, are you okay?” Rachel asked, feigning concern.
Alicia remembered what had happened before she fainted and instinctively pulled Rachel''s hand away.
Noticing the change in Alicia''s demeanor, Rachel softened her tone. “Don''t worry. I''ll make sure those kids are punished. They won’t suffer for anything.”
Alice''s expression remained nk. "Please go away. I need some time alone."
Raquel hesitated, her concern still evident. “The ambnce is on its way. Should we call Mr. Yates?”
Alice snapped, her voice hoarse and shrill with anger. “Why would you do that?”
Rachel continued, trying to calm her down. “I know you''re divorced and you''re not his wife anymore. But after something like this, it''s only fair that Ie to see how you are.”
“No need!” Alice''s words were filled with frustration, tinged with anxiety. “Don''t call him.”
Raquel was confused. “Why don''t you want me to eat?”
Alice''s face hardened. "Why would I want to?"
“You called him several times while you were unconscious,” Raquel pointed out. “Isn’t this when you need him the most?”
Alice didn''t know what to answer.
Had she really called Joshua?
She vaguely remembered feeling excited in the dream, but it wasn''t because she missed him. In fact, she had cursed him.
She touched her fingers to the bridge of her nose, trying to calm herself. “My situation has nothing to do with Joshua. If you want Lilliana to create chaos, call him. But be prepared for the consequences.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the image of Caden''s stern expression filled her mind.
Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind.
Had I misinterpreted everything?
Without wasting another second, she got out of bed, determined to find him.
