Chapter 154:
? ? ? ? ?
The floor was almost empty, with few patients or staff passing through.
With no one around, Lilliana''s insults grew louder.
?Women like you are nothing more than toys for men. They throw you away once they''ve had their fun. "And you really think you matter?"
Alice remained indifferent to his insults.
"So, Ms. Green, in your opinion, whenever there''s a man involved, it''s the woman who loses. When Joshua cheated on me during our marriage, did he see you as just a tool to satisfy his needs?"
Lilliana''s expression darkened.
"Do you really think you''re in the same league as me?"
Alice burst outughing.
Her eyes shifted to Joshua.
Alice said slowly, “Your fiancé must be something special for you to be his mistress and get pregnant while he was still married to another woman. But what about Caden?”
He paused briefly before continuing confidently. “Caden’s capabilities eclipse Joshua’s in every way. So now that I’m with him, tell me, who really benefits here?”
Lilliana scoffed.
“You''re so naive. Do you really think you and Caden are together? He''ll get tired of you in no time. Just wait, he''ll throw you out like garbage.”
Alice shrugged. “Even if it''s just for a week, I''d be better off. “I’m not the one making the effort.”
Lilliana''sposure began to crack.
Alicia smiled as she met Lilliana''s gaze. "But what about you, Miss Green? After two years with Joshua, how much have you earned?"
Lilliana was speechless.
Alice feigned regret. “Oh, I almost forgot. In your world, women exist only to serve men. I should ask Mr. Yates instead.”
He turned to Joshua, whose face was darkened with anger.
“In terms of bedroom skills, I''m nowhere near your level. You''ve impregnated the daughter of the Green family, and she''s willing to give you hundreds of millions. Tell me, who else in all of Warrington has talent like you?”
Joshua''s fury increased.
Alicia hadn''t directly called him an opportunist, but every word hit the mark.
He clenched his fists and red at her in pure rage. Despite his death re, Alice didn''t flinch.
"Mr. Yates, you should think of the future. A man''s charm does notst forever, and good looks cannot be relied upon for long," she said.
That was enough to push Joshua over the edge.
He took a step forward, closing the distance between them. Alicia didn''t move, staring nkly.
Joshua red at the face he once knew so well, but now found unfamiliar and infuriating. “You’ll regret your decisions, Alicia.”
Alice gave a littleugh. “Regret? There is no greater regret than marrying you.”
Joshua''s eyes burned with fury.
Alice''s face showed clearly that her marriage had been nothing but a source of shame to her.
The sound of a nurse''s cart echoed down the hall, breaking the tension of the narrow corridor.
Lilliana, ever mindful of her reputation, quickly put her sunsses back on and forced herself to appear calm.
Alice turned around and walked away.
Joshua watched her go, struggling to breathe as anger took hold within him.
Every fiber of his being was filled with anger.
Or maybe what he felt was regret and anguish. There were all kinds of mixed emotions inside him.
Lilliana''s anger was clear as she gritted her teeth. “When Caden leaves her, I’ll make sure she suffers.”
Joshua slowly clenched his fists, feeling his frustration growing even more.
Regaining hisposure, Joshua put his arm around Lilliana''s shoulders. “Let''s go. “We should get back.”
As they turned to leave, Gina emerged from the break room.
Joshua stopped when he saw her. “Gina, is that you?”
Gina felt a sudden jolt of surprise, and the ss in her hand trembled for a moment.
He calmed down and quickly adopted a calm demeanor. “Miss Green, Mr. Yates, what do you bring you here?” he asked, keeping his tone as neutral as possible.
Joshua briefly thought about Alicia, who had just left. For some reason, he couldn''t get the connection between Gina and Alicia out of his mind, although he didn''t know why.
Lilliana wasn''t feeling well. "Her doctor has a meeting on this floor, so we thought we''d stop by," Joshua exined.
"Harley has a brain tumor, right?"
Gina agreed. “Yes, Harley has a brain tumor,” she said, concern visible on her face.
"How are you?" Joshua asked.
Gina squeezed her ss tightly, a serious expression crossing her face. “Okay. Thanks for asking.”
Lilliana''s impatience boiled over and she insisted, "We have to go now! Why do you ask?"Content is property of N?velDrama.Org.
Joshua decided to end the conversation and walked away with Lilliana by his side.
His mind drifted off into thought, lost in his own worries. Noticing his distraction, Lilliana''s irritation grew. "Are you really enchanted with every woman you meet now?"
Joshua puts aside Lilliana''s pettiness and focused on Harley''s situation.
I discovered that Harley had already had surgery.
"Gina earns $20,000 a month, but her expenses are considerable. How can she afford Harley''s surgery?"
Joshua''s question immediately made Lilliana nervous.
“What do you mean?” I have asked.
Then a thought crossed his mind regarding Alice.
“Are you suggesting that…” Lilliana’s confusion deepened. “Alice was here for Gina?”
I remembered that Alice had indeede in the direction of Harley''s living room.
Joshua didn''t see the connection.
“I found it strange. “They are strangers, and yet, suddenly, they know each other.” I had always been a suspicious person, and I intended to find out more.
“Gina is your assistant, so I need to look into this.”
However, this was not the only thing he had in mind. I have nned to keep a close eye on all of Alice''s future actions.
