Chapter 187:
? ? ? ? ?
Alice felt like she had picked the worst possible time toe in.
It was the first time she saw Caden with another woman. What did their agreement say again? They wouldn''t meddle in each other''s personal lives. Their business was over, and they weren''t in a rtionship.
So, she wasn''t supposed to get involved, right?
Alice tried to calm down as she looked for a ce to sit.
Despite this, she kept ncing around the office. She couldn''t help but wonder what was going on inside. The more she thought about it, the more ufortable she felt.
At the office, Hank led the woman to Caden''s desk. “Mr. “Ward, you’re here.”
Caden looked up and frowned.
"I asked for a bodyguard. What the hell is this?"
Although her tone was harsh, the woman remained unfazed and indifferent. She was undeniably beautiful, but she had an intimidating presence.
Hank leaned in close and whispered, “I felt the same way when I first met her, but…” He cleared his throat, lowering his voice even further. “She''s bigger in size than you.”
Caden was taken back. He looked back at the woman before asking, “A man?”
Hank shook his head. “No, I meant his muscle mass.”
Caden was speechless.
Hank urged the woman to show her abilities. She took off her coat, revealing muscles that could rival those of any bodybuilding champion. She looked like a female bodybuilder in in clothes.
His appearance was surprisingly different with the coat on than without it.
Caden''s demeanor softened. “Please put your coat on.”
He looked at his file, pausing briefly on his name.
"Jasmine."
Jasmine replied, “Yes, Mr. Ward.” Caden paused briefly. “Very well.”
Her name, her face, and her physique seemed to belong to three different people. However, none of that mattered. The priority was her ability to protect Ciara. After Caden''s approval, Hank escorted Jasmine out.
Ciara was residing at the Joy Mansion, and Jasmine would begin her duties the next day, providing round-the-clock security for Ciara except during her sleeping hours.
As they walked outside, Jasmine quickly noticed Alicia. Alicia was sitting quietly, her long hair flowing gently and her striking profile capturing attention. Hank also noticed Alicia following Jasmine''s gaze and was briefly taken back.
Jasmine said, “I’ll go myself. “You can tell Mr. Ward that he has a guest.”
Hank had initially intended to ignore Alicia, since Caden hadn''t openly acknowledged her, and he''d preferred Jasmine to remain ignorant of any connection between Caden and Alicia. However, judging by Jasmine''s expression, he sensed that she might already know more than he thought.
“Do you know her?” Hank asked.
Jasmine replied, “I know who it is.”
"Part of a bodyguard''s role is to recognize any important person."
Hank looked impressed. “Come in.” Mr. Ward is waiting,” Jasmine said before walking away.
Instead of warning Caden, Hank went straight to Alicia.
"Miss Bet, Mr. Ward is avable now. I can take you to see him."
Alice was taken back. “Already?”
Hank looked confused. “What do you mean?”
Alicia scratched her forehead before saying, “I saw you escort a woman inside. Did Caden finish things that quickly?”
Hank''s face suddenly changed. "You''ve misunderstood. She''s a bodyguard that Mr. Ward hired for Mrs. Ward. There''s nothing personal between her and Mr. Ward."
He felt embossed.
He was grateful that Alicia had brought it up; a misunderstanding could have caused bigger problems. If Caden lost control, he would be the one to face the consequences.
After leading Alicia into the office, Hank quickly left.
Alicia watched Caden. His demeanor at the office waspletely different from his demeanor at home. Here, he was all business, stiffer even than his suit.
Noticing her presence, Caden continued signing documents without stopping and asking bluntly, “Why are you here?”
Alice ced the notes she had prepared on her table and exined the reason for her presence.
Caden nced at the notes and quickly made a decision. “I will improve a batch of products and release them as a limited edition.”
Alice internally agreed. The improved version would likely sell for a higher price, and the customization would add emotional value for consumers. But then she remembered to ask, “Shouldn''t you discuss this n with the others?”
“It''s not expensive,” Caden replied.
Alice agreed. She had forgotten how much money she had.
Seeing Caden immersed in his work, Alicia did not want to interrupt any longer. She started to leave.
Caden looked up. “Where are you going?”
Alice replied, “It''s still early. “I’m going to the mall to pick up some things.”
He paused for a moment, then began gathering his things. “Wait for me.”
Alice looked confused. “Are you leaving work now? Isn’t it a little early?”
Caden smirked. “What good would it do to you if I worked myself to death?”N?velDrama.Org is the owner.
Alice was momentarily speechless. Then she said boldly, “Quite a lot, especially since you’ve included me in your will.”
This time, Caden was speechless.
He turned off the lights in the office and went out with her.
Alice asked, “Are you sure you want toe with me? Aren’t you worried about your family seeing us together?”
"My grandmother respects my privacy. She won''t interfere as long as I don''t introduce anyone as my girlfriend publicly."
Alicia felt a pang of envy. Ciara was as kind as her own mother.
He asked, “Is Ciara nning to stay here permanently?”
"It depends on your mood."
"Then you''ll havepany for Christmas." Alice could not hide her satisfaction.
Caden looked at her. “You''re wee toe.”
Alice was taken back, feeling a little shy.
Then Caden added, "That way I won''t have to hire an extra cook."
Alice was speechless.
