?Chapter 206:
Caden''s face showed little emotion, but Gerry could sense his irritation.
“No,” Caden replied curtly.
Gerry, enjoying Caden''s difort, continued to provoke him.
He detailed Alicia''s recent problems, exaggerating them to make her seem particrly unfortunate.
“He’s alienated a lot of people.
I doubt he’llst the whole year,” he mused, tapping his chin.
“What a tragedy for someone so promising.
”
Caden remained stoic, his attention still focused on the newspaper, not responding.
"People die every day.
Why should we mourn them?" he said, his tone devoid of emotion.
“You don’t have any sympathy for her?” Gerry jabbed, watching Caden intently.
"I don''t have time for this," Caden dismissed.
“What if something happened to him? Would you intervene?” Gerry asked, smiling knowingly.
“No,” Caden replied quickly and without emotion.
“You didn’t even hesitate,” Gerry observed in disbelief.
“You once saved her when you werepetitors.
Now that you have feelings for her, aren’t you going to act?”
Caden frowned.
“Why do you think I care about her?” Ever since Alicia had left, Caden hadn’t given her another thought.
He had returned to his strict routine, immersing himself in work, making sure not to waste any time.
He had even managed to visit the Joy Mansion during his hectic schedule.
However, Gerry, ever the idler, mented: “You avoid the truth by burying yourself in work.
”
“You have too much time on your hands,” Caden replied.
Gerryughed.
“I’ve touched a nerve, haven’t I? You’re just angry because I’m right.Property ? of N?velDrama.Org.
”
Caden folded the newspaper and stood up.
Gerry sneered as he followed him, “You fall in love with a woman for the first time and look where it takes you.
I should feel sorry for her, but somehow, I find it funny.
Even I, who have never been with anyone, am happier than you.
What is it that Alicia doesn’t like about you? Could it be how you are in bed? Or was it because she ran off with someone else that day?”
Caden paused at the door, contemting his next move.
Gerry saw Ciara and Ynda outside, and immediately stopped talking.
Ciara, who was arranging flowers with Ynda, noticed them.
“Are you leaving already?” she asked.
Ynda looked at Caden.
Caden replied coldly, “Gerry is having an episode.
We need to get him to the hospital for an injection.
”
Gerry, caught off guard, remained silent, especially with Ciara present.
It was gettingte, so Ciara didn''t try to entertain them any further.
As they settled into the car, Caden asked casually, “Has Alicia told you about the gallery?”
Gerry was puzzled.
“What gallery?”
Caden’s expression turned grim.
“Never mind.
” Alicia didn’t seem interested.
“Fine.
I won’t insist,” Caden decided.
Ciara then advised Ynda, who was taking a while: "You''re not feeling well.
Try to rest soon.
"
Ynda hesitated, worried.
She had heard Gerry''sments about Caden experiencing love for the first time.
Could Caden be involved with someone?
Ynda had harbored feelings for Caden since childhood, but her fragile health had often sidelined her.
Now, seizing the opportunity of a marriage alliance, she had ignored Dorian''s advice ande to Warrington, hoping to forge a closer bond with Caden.
Was it toote?
If Caden was really involved with someone, why hadn''t anyone talked about her? Ynda expressed her concern to Ciara.
"Is Caden still single?" she asked.
Ciara looked at Ynda''s anxious expression and replied with a soft smile, "She keeps her personal life private, so I''m not sure.
"
Ynda bit her lip.
“But if he’s already engaged, why would he ept my father’s proposal?”
“Did she ept your father’s proposal?” Ciara replied in surprise.
“That’s news to me.
”
Ynda was shocked.
She turned slightly pale and expressed her concern.
“I thought Caden had brought me to Warrington for that reason.
”
“You should talk to Caden to clear up any misunderstandings,” Ciara suggested before heading upstairs.
Once Ciara had closed the door behind her, she exhaled deeply and said to Jasmine, “I’m relieved I’m not young anymore.
Living day in and day out with such a difficult daughter-inw would wear me out if I were Caden’s mother.
”
Jasmine, who tended to take things literally, replied, "But isn''t Mrs.
Ward quite kind?"
Ciara scoffed, “That means little.
She’s dishonest.
She makes up events as if they were absolutes and points the finger at Caden.
” It was clear why Caden had never developed feelings for her over the years.
Jasmine was baffled by Ciara’s perspective, but she noticed one thing clearly.
“It seems that Miss Moss does not match her in beauty.
”
Ciara looked up suddenly, her movement jerking.
“Have you seen her?”
Jasmine confirmed, “Yes, I met her once outside Mr.
Ward’s office.
She is the heiress of the prestigious Bet family, which copsed three years ago.
”
