    “Caden?” She lifted her head, puzzled. “Did you hear me?”


    Caden met her gaze. “After what happened to Gemma, Corey’s barely coping. He’s not ready to focus on work, especially not on the chips.” Alicia’s voice wasced with concern. “Why were you so quiet just now?” Alicia frowned. When did he be so easily distracted? Was he really that tired? She felt a pang of unease. Despite knowing how worn out he was, she had initiated intimacy earlier. Why had she been so demanding?


    Caden’s gaze was intense, his eyes unreadable. “Did you enjoy it just now?”


    Caught off guard by the sudden turn to such a personal topic, Alicia hesitated before responding, “Yes, I did.”


    “If you enjoyed it, why only once?”


    “In the office, and we have to be mindful of our surroundings. Plus, the chair was so ufortable that it hurt my back,” Alicia exined earnestly.
