“Ha, yes, they have a special job. A very important one.”
Good that I am someone who enjoys the lore of games, even though Pokémon lore is always a bit… Nah.
”There are three islands where the three of them likely house.
Between them is a sea current, with great importance.
When the current gets disrupted or changes otherwise, it will have a big impact on Kanto''s and other regions climates.”
Similar to Gulf Stream in my last life.
Europe would be so, so much colder without it.
”Usually, the three birds are evenly matched, at least in how far their influence spreads.
So their influence on the stream is pretty stable and not very dangerous.
Which doesn’t mean everything goes to shit just because they go away.
Moltres, for example, is said to show up when the league tournament gets disrupted, which start gets signaled with his Flame.
Articuno also helps lost people in snowy mountains.
Zapdos… Well, Zapdos doesn’t have both typings vulnerable to rock.
”Oh, how do I recognize one? Something noteworthy on how they look?”
“Well, yes. Moltres looks like a plucked and burning Fearow.
By default, angry-looking flames are mostly visible on his head and wings, which doesn’t mean other parts aren’t hot.
Zapdos looked kind of like he was made out of multiple parts, with the only joints at his neck and the base of his legs and wings.
His wings look like a triangle, mostly. Overall, his body has similar coloration and looks like the spiky body of a Jolteon.
But I remember he is supposed to discharge lightning attacks by rubbing his feathers, even though I am unsure on that one.
Articuno is the most beautiful of them, which is accepted like that in general by the populace.
White Feathers on his belly while he otherwise had a light blue fitting for an Ice Type everywhere else.
Only the ornament between his eyebrows, similar to Magikarp, and his long tail following him in his flight have a deeper shade.
It’s strange that his wings are made out of ice. He is also the most graceful out of the three of them.”
“You were remarkably precise for Articuno, weren’t you? Do you like him the most?”
”Well, he is the most pleasing to the eye while having an appearance that needs a bit more explanation than the other ones.”
”Hm. Sabby, let’s say, purely theoretically, someone, I am asking for a friend, has caught one of them.”
”Nessa. Yes, Nessa fits better. Do you want to tell me one of the three Legendary Birds was caught by someone just like that?”
”Well, ehhh. I guess?”
Sabrina makes an effort to say something, but she doesn’t know what and only brings out grunts.
And she shakes Vanessa by the shoulder, but that isn’t important.
”"Please stop shaking me. Thank you. I will explain, okay!”
”Better do so.”
Sabrina sat down on the ground, not expecting to get caught up in such a mess.
For a short moment she thought that she overreacted, since there is no way such a Pokémon was caught in real life.
But Arceus putting special attention on her and it being a completely different world with different standards made her doubt it.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon. On the other side, can they really be caught like that?
While an intense battle of arguments breaks out in Sabrina’s head, Vulpix sneaks next to her thighs, having finally found a moment to insert herself. Abra was too dumbfounded by the notion that a legendary bird was caught to give something else his attention.
Comfey is confused why he and Sabrina react like that and gets gently told by Bulbasaur why it is a big deal.
Bulbasaur himself doesn’t seem to be nervous, as he can’t read Vanessa’s mind and doesn’t think it’s true.
”So, you know, some two months ago I found this in the garden.”
With her words, Vanessa proudly presents the crystal ball she swiftly pulls out.
Sabrina wants to slap herself, because when it is what she thinks it is, then the whole situation is unreal.
And in the Garden?
“A bit shorter than a month ago, I accompanied Jerome to Lavender Town.
He caught a Cubone there, whose mother lies there. We don’t know the exact date, but it should have been roughly her death anniversary.
Not too far is the power plant. I then had the idea that I could capture an Electrode or Voltorb there.
When my journey starts, I could just use Explosion to at least make the battle a draw.
With that, my money would be safe!”
”Isn’t it a bit tasteless to go capturing Pokémon under such circumstances?”
”I don’t know how it is for you, but in Kanto it’s at least part of everyday life.
In bigger cities, maybe they scheduled it better, but not every place has a convenient bus line to the Safari Zone.
And Cubone matured pretty much by now.
Jerome said something along the line that her mother didn’t die so that the day gets remembered as a painful no-fun day.”
I am pretty sure Jerome and Cubone said something more smart-sounding, but it’s nice to know she got over it.
“They even offered to accompany me, as Cubone would have a big advantage against most Pokémon inside the Power Plant.
And I accepted naturally; I mean, I only did get good things out of it.”
”Great, just great.”
”But there weren’t many Pokémon who wanted to fight, besides a cowardly Electabuzz who ran away from an Electrode, who was then protected by Voltorbs, so I gave up on capturing him.”
Makes sense, I guess. The place would be forbidden or at least better managed when it was too dangerous.
At least I guess it was fairly easy when she and Jerome got in.
… Shouldn’t a place where legendary Pokémon appear not be better managed anyway?
”Then, there was a room that seemed to be buzzing behind an important looking door!
Behind it was a mean-looking Big Bird, who seemed to attack us with Thunderbolts at any moment.
I naturally tried to capture it.”
“Who the hell faces a Legendary Pokémon and then tries to capture it!
Especially since it would have been your first Pokémon.
And why did it even work?! Did you have a Master Ball or something?”
”Nope, I am not that rich. I just accidentally threw the crystal ball.
Then it got all tame and was easily captured when I actually threw my Pokéball.
It also ate through most of my savings, which makes me thankful again my parents gave me my pocket money earlier.”
”Maybe they just noticed that you were carelessly spending your money on something?
Wait, Pokechow comes in packaging, which you have to throw away.
They probably saw them in some trash can by their house when you didn’t make an extra detour to throw them out far away.”
”Ehh, really? They never said anything about it?”
”Well, that isn’t my business.
Interpol agents are probably already searching for you.
It was nice to have known you; may your sentence not be too heavy.”
”You really think so?”
”Well, they have to be stupid, blind, or both to not watch out for the three Legendary Pokémon, which not only are vital for the survival of Kanto and more regions but can also bring destruction alone by manipulating the weather and then not notice it.
The question is just how long it will take and if you will turn yourself in on your own will.”
”You''re kidding?!”
”Maybe. I honestly don’t know if you get punished heavily.
You’re still a minor, and Zapdos seems to have let him get captured.
It’s hard to argue with Zapdos on that part, but maybe you should also show the crystal ball that even made it tame to begin with.”
If my prediction is right, then she may even be hailed as a hero.
Depending on how much they know, I don’t think Arceus wants to see her flourish just so that his intervention makes her a criminal.
On that note, the Crystal Ball in her Garden means Arceus did something. Why? Why do I have to get involved in that?
