Vision II

Jason drove into a grand compound and parked his car in front of a two-story glass house. He and Jeff got out of the car and walked toward the building.

As they entered the sitting room, they saw Alena walking down the stairs. She was dressed in pyjamas and slippers, her hair tied in a ponytail, which revealed her fair, delicate skin and slender cheeks.

When Alena saw Jeff and Jason, a sly smile crept across her face as she approached them. “It’s good to see you again, Jeff. I saw your car drive in through the glass wall from my room.” Turning to Jason, she greeted him, “Hi, Jason. You’re always here.”

Jason returned her greeting with a quick grin.

“You seem to be preparing for bed. Have you forgotten your father’s birthday party?” Jeff arched an eyebrow.

“Oh!” Alena chuckled and arched a brow. “You thought I wouldn’t be around, and that’s why you’re here?” She shifted her gaze between Jeff and Jason, finding her answer.

“Aren’t you going? It’s your father’s birthday,” Jason asked, puzzled.

Alena shrugged. “I don’t think I should be there tonight.” Folding her arms, she asked sarcastically, “Aren’t you supposed to be with your girlfriend?”Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

“I need to see Kate,” Jeff replied curtly, turning to leave. As he jogged up the stairs, Alena turned to watch him, sneering.

“I should leave too,” Jason quickly excused himself and followed Jeff.

Jeff opened the door to a small, square room—painted in azure blue and decorated with matching blue accessories and furniture. A single bed, with a blue blanket and sheets, rested against one wall. Curled up on the bed was a young woman, about twenty-five, wearing blue pyjamas. Her head rested on her lap, and her curly brown hair spilt over her face.

When the young woman heard the creaking sound of the door, she lifted her head.

Jeff stared at the tiny figure sitting on the bed.

Kate’s pyjama top slid off her right shoulder, exposing the delicate curve of her collarbone. Her hands rested softly in her lap, the fingers barely moving. Her long, tousled hair cascaded over her face, concealing her piercing blue eyes and the full curve of her cherry-red lips. Though her frame was small and fragile, her face held an alluring, almost dangerous beauty—striking in its intensity.

Jeff’s lips fluttered into a smile. He approached her softly, saying, “It feels so good to see you again, Kate.”

Kate’s lips curved into a smile.

“I’m glad to hear you again,” she replied in her soft voice. She didn’t move from her position but listened intently to Jeff’s footsteps as he approached the bed.

Jeff sat beside her on the bed and stared at her profile for a few seconds. Neither of them spoke. He reached out and tucked her hair behind her ear.

Kate gazed deeply into Jeff’s eyes, her own sightless yet piercing. Though blind, her eyes were a striking shade of blue, their intense, unsettling stare seeming to unravel his thoughts with just a glance.

“I’m sorry I didn’t come to see you these past few days,” Jeff muttered apologetically.
