Valkyrie ? Prologue ? Welcome to Thessia
Thessia. The southeastern continent of the Life Sphere, covering roughly one-sixth of the planet. What a magical place.
There were once many kings and tribes here. In ancient times the whole continent was united peacefully, and the old union reigned supreme for centuries. But time gnaws at everything. Long past were its days of glory and opulence when it had to face its greatest challenge: a demonic invasion. Cruel beings from another sphere came through portals, emerging all over the world, and the crumbling old union was faced with a simple choice: perish—or resurface like a phoenix from the ashes, to face the enemy without any fear or mercy. You might be reading a pirated copy. Thessia prevailed, and demons have long since returned to their sphere. They have become mere annals of history, but with them went the old order. A new era emerged, along with a new empire, replacing the old system with a reformed one, molded by fire and war. Bound together under the iron hand of Emperor Konrad VI, this empire—now in 264 a.CR.—is a powerhouse to behold.
Indeed, the Empire stands tall, and while the beloved Emperor rules with a caring fist, it is a fist nonetheless. Thessia''s glory outshines the whole world, and tales from there are told everywhere. Yet, as is the case with everything, each tale can be told from many different perspectives.
Peace and prosperity prevails on the continent—according to official statements. Sometimes there are bandits, usurpers, rebellions, the usual. Nothing to be truly worried about.
No matter how things are: Thessia became a highly militarized power machine in these last centuries, hell-bent on never letting its guard down ever again. Every seat of power has a leader, and a leader needs good protection. Given the nature, only the best of the very best can provide this protection. Only a select few are able to fill this incredibly demanding position. Luckily, the Empire had just the right answer for that. The Valkyries.
