Valkyrie ? Chapter XIV ? Revolt

It was the year 267 a.CR. Seraphina had been serving as a Valkyrie for three years already. Things were mostly calm, but now disturbing news arrived at the court. The province of Danas had staked an open revolt, with the province of Gahlen following close second. All over the empire, smaller and larger revolts broke out. Why?

Seraphina spent most of her time at the Emperor''s side in these last three years, and because of that, she was well involved in political developments. Yet it is a mystery to her how anyone could dare to rise up against the beloved Emperor. However, she has to admit that she only knows about the events on the continent from the stories told at court. Rarely leaving the walls of the Union Castle, she knows little about what is actually happening in the world outside. The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site.     Yes, there are some economic difficulties and unequal redistributions. Thessia is a large continent, and famines, conflicts, poverty and banditry are things that unfortunately cannot be avoided. But no one was aware that the situation was boiling so much—or didn''t want to be aware of it.

Danas has always been a difficult province. Located in the far west, bordering Kasthra to the east, far from the Union Castle and isolated from the rest of the continent by the Kirgen Mountain Range, it has developed its own small distinct culture. It already rebelled a century ago, but the resistance was quickly crushed. Now it tried again.

Gahlen, on the other hand, located in the far southeast, is a rich region, but for some reason, it too has always been difficult to control. Powerful nobles and merchants come from there and always demanded more and more privileges—recently some that the Emperor could not concede to them. It was only a matter of time before the situation became heated.

Nevertheless, one thing seemed strange. The situation in which the individual provinces rebelled was well organized—too well. Help must have been provided from within the Union Castle. A plot against the Emperor, once again. Nothing unusual. But now the situation would lead to civil war. And the Valkyries would have to face their ultimate challenge.
