    IIt was time. The day for Seraphina''s Ascension dawned. She knew the thrill. She had witnessed it many times before. This wouldn''t be special. This wouldn''t be different. It would be only her. Only that. Only her.


    So much happened in all these last years. Seraphina would not come to see the new world that dawned, but that was alright. She was curious about what was to come, but it was for others to witness it, and to continue writing the story. Seraphina had her own tale to tell, and it was no less glorious.


    All her life she accepted the codex for what it was, but now, finally, she could genuinely understand it. She understood the way of the ancients, Cecilia, all the other sisters before her, the ones still there, the Emperor, and the world itself. She understood it all. Finally. She could feel it. The energy around her. A surreal feeling that transcended the boundary of a normal human being.


    As she gracefully walked to the gallow… for the first time in eternity... she felt something a warrior barely knew: a feeling of not just calm, but genuine, lasting peace. It was pure bliss—a final present from her Emperor and everyone else around her in these moments. He and the others would take it from here. If the afterlife is a more merciful place, she might finally find some well deserved rest there.     So now, in return, Seraphina was ready to give her last present to her Emperor, and to everyone else. She began reciting the oath she once took, and like the Valkyries before her, she did so in an updated yet genuine form.


    "My Emperor…", she began, "I once promised that I exist only for you. My love belonged to you alone; I renounced all kind of personal freedom. My only goal was to protect you, therefore so you could protect the Empire. I was, and still am, convinced with all my heart, that you will continue its glory; to expand its glory even. You already did, and I know you will continue to do so. I am at your service, and will forever be, in this world and the next. Hail, my Emperor, Konrad the Sixth, blessings upon you! Might future smile upon you all."


    Seraphina and the other Valkyries began singing. Their chorus was majestic. It sent shiver''s up everyone''s spine. These very tears that began to flow…, from almost everyone..., they gave it all away. Seraphina felt loved. Truly loved. It was good to go. This was the right moment. This was it. Yes. The moment where it was good to gave in. She finally understood, truly.


    And so, as her hands were bound behind, and the noose was tightened, she was lifted up. The fight that followed might have been a big one, but it was her final one, at least in this realm. She fought it with bravura and with as much dignity as possible.
