The Founding of Mani

Earth was the original name of the world. Legend says that it was ruled by humans.

Humanity came to be when the Sun Goddess Sol desired companionship. Sol gave birth to Humanity and departed so they could learn and grow on their own; sadly, this backfired because the humans she brought into the world would soon forget her, and they even questioned her existence, so the Sun Goddess would eventually weaken and was on the cusp of death.

She reached out to her children, but due to her weakened state, she could only affect their dreams, but no matter how she screamed, the Sun Goddess was ignored.

Sol was heartbroken and furious; her children had forgotten her and had left her to die.

The Sun Goddess would take matters into her own hands. The Sun Goddess would use a specially made dagger made from Alexandrite and would take her own life.

In doing so, all light was taken from the world.

Leaving the Earth in eternal darkness, humanity panicked and fell into chaos; without the sun, the earth would eventually freeze as an ice age would slowly consume the earth.

Humanity suffered greatly during this horrid era, and eventually humanity would perish.

The Moon God Mani would watch all of this and shed tears; he mourned his sister, and he grew to hate humanity for causing his sister to die.

But still Mani knew that his sister had left humanity alone for too long, abandoning them at their most crucial moment, only sowing seeds of doubt in her children.

When the last soul of humanity perished, Mani, the moon god, descended down to earth, and with his power, he birthed the Lunarians.

The Lunarian People were exactly like humans, only they bore Mani’s image. The Lunarians would have long, luxurious, white or cyan-colored hair and pointed, elf-like ears that varied in length; some had long ears, others had shorter ears, and so on.

The last thing about the Lunarians was their star-shaped pupils that would shimmer when they were happy or joyful.

Mani, unlike his sister, spent time with his children and lived amongst them, teaching them.

Mani loved his time with his children and bestowed gifts on some to help diversify them. These gifts greatly varied and became hereditary traits among the Lunarian People.

Mani would soon tell his children that he needed to enter a deep hibernation to restore the power he had expended creating and nurturing them.

The Lunarians were saddened by this, but Mani had given them the tools to survive, and as such they were completely confident and knew they would be ok with that. Mani gave them one final message.

Mani: My darling children, remember that I am always with you, and if you should ever need me, have every Lunarian pray to me, and I shall heed your call.Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Mani would then ascend to the Moon in his true body and would then enter a deep hibernation.

The Lunarians would then build a statue to their God and would experience an age of peace.

But sadly not everything is meant to last because humanity still had a role to play.

Sol, in her greatness, had bestowed immortal souls to her children. These immortal souls would linger below the earth, blackened and spiteful. They had learned of their Goddess and how she took her life, and they stewed in hate and rage—not for themselves; no, they blamed their Goddess for everything.

The hatred of countless human souls would stew and stew, and on top of that, these souls witness the love and attention the Lunarians received from their creator, and that only made things worse.

In time the Souls of Humanity would rise to the surface and proceed to attack and slaughter the Lunarian People, bringing their cities to ruin and killing without mercy.

The Lunarians referred to these monsters as the Remnants because Mani had told them the fate of Humanity and their goddess.

The Lunarians would fight the best they could against the remnant, but their power was not enough. At the cusp of their extinction, the surviving Lunarians banded together in prayer, and they called out to Mani.

The collective cry of his children would awaken Mani, who saw the remnant and grew furious. Mani acted quickly, and he shed six tears and sent them down to earth.

The Lunarians would see these falling azure comets hit the earth and praised their god.

The First Tear was found by Isaco the Composer and her Orchestra. Isaco was a famous songwriter and conductor, and upon discovering the Lunar Tear of inspiration, she would realize the power of songcraft.

The Second Tear landed in the Silver Forest and was discovered by Dryad Fernia. The young Dryad was the last Dryad in existence. She saw many of her brothers and sisters be consumed by the Remnants, but upon discovering the Lunar Tear of Serenity, she realized that staying angry at the Remnant would solve nothing. Fernia’s power of plant manipulation would be strengthened.

The Third Tear would land upon a snowy temple. It was discovered by a child who gifted it to his father.

The Lunarian Angel held the Tear in his hands and smiled, feeling its energy. This Lunarian Angel was Joseph, and as he looked to his family, he was now assured that his family would have a future. Joseph held the Lunar Tear of Compassion close to his heart as he realized the power of Cryomancy.

The Fourth Lunar Tear would land in a steeple that was currently home to a congregation hoping to hide from the Remnants. The Lunarian Tear was soon taken by the conjoined twin priests, Alex and Artorius. They held the Lunar Tear aloft, presenting the hope it would bring.

The Conjoined Priests with the Lunar Tear of Confliction would realize the Power of Holy Prayer.

Next the fifth Lunar Tear would fall through the frozen ocean and call out to its rightful bearer. An orca would heed the call, taking the lunar tear, and would break through the ice, his front flippers becoming large wings, allowing him to fly.

The orca would let out a sorrowful bellow. Having consumed the Lunar Tear of Sorrow, this orca realized the power of Lunar Magic.

The final Tear would land in the home of a child who had lost her entire family to the Remnant. Holding the Lunar Tear close to her heart, she would silently pray for her family to return to her the Lunar Tear; feeling the sincerity in the child''s heart would grant her wish.

Soon the child was surrounded by phantoms of her family and her close friends, neighbors, and pets. The child, however, would not realize any new power; she would instead flee using the power of the Lunar Tear to create a hideaway where she could live with her family in peace.

The remaining Bearers of the Luna Tears would come together and fight the Remnant. Isaco, with her song Craft, would create a symphony that slowed and pacified the Remnant.

Fernia would use her plants to consume and claim the Remnant.

Joseph froze and destroyed them with his ice magic.

The Conjoined Priests would use his prayers to purify the Remnant.

And the orca would decimate them with his lunar magic.

With their combined might, the Remnant would be no more; their hateful souls purified and put to rest.

These five individuals would be known as the Chosen, and with the war won, they would each create their own kingdoms.

Isaco founded Meldo, the city of music.

Fernia founded Glese, the City of Flora.

Joseph, with his family, would found the Nifle, the city of ice.

The Conjoined Priests create Holiae, the City of Unity.

The Orca, now going by the name Xander, would give rise to Layoli, the City of Remembrance.

Now the Lunarians live in peace, each of them working to help each other, and Mani smiles down on them, his heart full of pride.

But Mani fears for his children as a darkness still lingers within this world.
