Chapter 7: The Enlarged Ghost Face

Kun Yao''s face darkened, and just as she was about to leave,

Shen Yue quickly extended her arms to embrace her: "Thank you so much for fulfilling my wish. You''re the first friend I''ve made here."

Kun Yao was suddenly hugged by her, feeling Shen Yue''s hands resting on her back with surprising heat, impossible to ignore.

At such close proximity, Kun Yao could even feel her breath. She had never been this close to anyone before.

"Let go," Kun Yao said coldly.

"Oh, wait a moment," Shen Yue spoke up. She hadn''t had enough of the hug yet.

Kun Yao took a deep breath and pushed Shen Yue away.

"Hurry up, we won''t make it if we don''t go now. The third main vine is about to go in."

"Okay, okay. Can you still walk... I mean, you go first. My legs are numb."

Shen Yue stood up but stumbled and fell back down.

"I''ll hide near the cave entrance. Be quick," Kun Yao said efficiently, quickly disappearing into the bushes.

Shen Yue slowly stood up, her left hand touching her right palm, which emitted a faint blue light that quickly disappeared.

"She can still move..." Shen Yue muttered softly, feeling puzzled.

She had just taken the opportunity to absorb energy from Kun Yao. Although the time was short, even in those few seconds, Shen Yue was certain she had absorbed a large amount of energy. It wasn''t in vain that she had shed those few tears earlier.

If it were anyone else, they would be extremely weak even if they could move. But Kun Yao had left full of energy.

"Does she have so much energy that what I took was like a mosquito bite?" Shen Yue could hardly believe it. Then a thought struck her and she smiled. "Well, that''s good. I won''t have to worry about energy in the future."

Shen Yue, who had originally planned to absorb Kun Yao''s energy and then run away, now hesitated.

"Alright, let''s give it a try."

    "She''s not an idiot, she''s a cold-faced, warm-hearted innocent."

Shen Yue changed her evaluation of Kun Yao.

As agreed, Shen Yue pretended to be a possessed tenant, moving stiffly towards the terrifying vine-covered slope ahead.

But after just a few steps, Shen Yue suddenly stopped and quickly crouched down to hide.

Because she had heard a familiar voice - it was Qi Zeming, whom they had separated from not long ago. He had obviously been infected and was walking straight ahead.

He obediently walked up to the terrifying vines, allowing them to wrap around him.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

This vine wrapped around him very quickly. Soon, Qi Zeming''s body was engulfed in this deadly green, becoming a large cocoon that was dragged into the cave entrance.

After the three large vines disappeared, Shen Yue could see the exposed cave more clearly.

The cave entrance wasn''t large. It was hard to imagine how those three vines had squeezed out of such a small opening. But it was they who had harvested countless lives.

After the three main vines disappeared, the remaining vines suddenly stopped moving. This happened in an instant.

Shen Yue immediately thought of Kun Yao''s words. It seemed she had known this would happen all along.

Sure enough, she soon saw Kun Yao''s figure. Kun Yao appeared in the bushes next to the cave entrance but didn''t immediately go in.

Shen Yue guessed she might be waiting for her, so she hurried over.

All the vines were completely still. Shen Yue mustered her courage and crept over from the nearby bushes, bending low.

Soon she was by Kun Yao''s side.

"Let''s go. Didn''t you want to go in?"

Kun Yao glanced at her and said in a low voice: "Follow behind me. When we get inside, don''t run around, and don''t be afraid."

"I... I''ll try my best," Shen Yue replied.

"Also, try not to make any sound once we''re inside," Kun Yao added.

Shen Yue complained: "So many rules. If we can''t talk, how are we supposed to communicate to save people?"

"There''s a big creature inside. It''s the root of those vines, currently in a dormant state. Don''t wake it up, or you''ll die."

    ??? What about you?

"Understood. I''ll be careful," Shen Yue gave Kun Yao a deep look. Was this person really a tenant?

She was an outsider to this entire world. Although she had some life-saving tricks up her sleeve, she found it difficult to navigate these small worlds. Yet Kun Yao seemed so familiar with this place.

It couldn''t be her first time. And she had so much energy...

    "Let''s go."

"You... you..." Shen Yue watched in shock as Kun Yao simply walked out, striding towards the cave entrance.

The vines nearby were like dead things, not moving at all.

"These are all small branches of the main vine. Only those three vines from earlier could control them. Otherwise, they''re all in a dormant state."

Shen Yue carefully stepped over a pile of limp vines to get behind Kun Yao.

"So these vines are just like this? Won''t they..."

Kun Yao said in a low voice: "When the three derivative main vines enter the cave, it means there are no more living people outside."

Shen Yue was startled. So Zhu Rui, who was left, was also dead?

"But that''s not right. You and I are still here."

Kun Yao didn''t respond because they had already entered the cave. As soon as Shen Yue entered, everything was pitch black. It took her a couple of seconds to adjust.

She followed behind Kun Yao, walking forward for several dozen meters. Suddenly, a faint light appeared ahead, allowing them to see their surroundings.

    Thud!

Kun Yao turned back to look. It was Shen Yue. She had fallen to the ground, or more accurately, collapsed on the ground, her head hanging down, her body shaking slightly.

Kun Yao crouched down and looked at her quizzically: What''s wrong?

Shen Yue looked up, staring at Kun Yao''s face, trying hard to ignore what was behind Kun Yao: It''s nothing. I just tripped.

    Kun Yao: Be careful.

Shen Yue slowly stood up, almost not daring to raise her head, but her downcast gaze could still see a pair of feet floating in front of her.

    Floating.

Slowly raising her head, reflected in her eyes was not just Kun Yao, but also a ghostly figure. It was a young girl, with disheveled hair, who had died in a gruesome manner.

The features on her face were so rotten they were barely recognizable. Her neck was even more decayed, blood staining her clothes, the exposed skin a deathly gray. Most importantly, Shen Yue realized that Kun Yao couldn''t see this female ghost, but the ghost was following right behind her.

She only needed to lower her eyes slightly to see the ghost''s feet dangling behind her.

Shen Yue was actually quite brave, but this was what she feared most. This female ghost was very likely a previous tenant who had died in this small world.

The ghost was trapped here, unable to leave.

Shen Yue suddenly grabbed Kun Yao''s clothes: I''m scared. Stay close to me. Let''s walk together.

Kun Yao turned her head, confusion flashing in her eyes.

Then she turned back, ignoring Shen Yue.

Shen Yue was frustrated. However, before she could get any comfort, the next second, she saw the female ghost''s face enlarged right in front of her.

The ghost seemed to have noticed Shen Yue''s unease. In an instant, it had moved right up to Shen Yue''s face.

Those eerie eyes were fixed intently on Shen Yue.
