Chapter one : The Ghosts

    Chapter zero : Death

“Death…what is it?” She thought while wiping the blood off her hands, “I wonder , what is there after death…..what happens, when you die….”

The room was big, yet the blood covered it all, nothing was left untouched and the smell of death was floating in the air.

It was the last, she had finished.

    Her job was done.

    Chapter one : the Ghosts

she was swiftly walking through the woods towards her target. She knew it was going to be a successful hunt for Venenum had trapped the section, making sure nothing could leave.

She continued walking, thinking of what she will do once this hunt is finished. She heard the sound of Inside shooting down the prey to keep it in place, preventing it from leaving where Venenum didn''t lay traps. Militum was roaming around making sure everything was going smoothly. She was sure nothing could happen to her.

She arrived near the prey, looking it in the eye before properly executing it, cutting its head and taking the valuable object of its body in order to pawn them later. But she didn''t know the prey was not alone. A soldier appeared behind her, raising his sword with the strength of a man ready to die for his Duke. She sat there, and did not react, she expected this to happen and knew the exact outcome of this situation.

In a swift swing of his blade, a sword flowed through the soldier cutting his body in half in an explosion of blood. She rose, staring at the cut body laying in front of her. It had been chopped cleanly,

She looked at the man who had just saved her and sighed.

-”You didn’t have to, Falling.”, she said with a calm voice

-”Who would we be without you, Whisper?”, he answered.

-”Honest people working in the exiled kingdom, without having to kill to live.”, she responded

-”In the exiled kingdom you have to kill to survive, Whisper.”

She sighed once again and looked around as the others joined her. The group finally together, they started heading towards the exiled kingdom to bring back their catch.

They did not have any trouble going back for the simple sound of their name would send people crying in their houses.

Ghost, the best assassins in the world, working for the exiled prince in the isolated kingdom, they have the best teamwork ever, but that is all because they will follow their leader even if it means killing themselves for her plan. Whisper Vindicata, leader of the Ghosts and the most feared woman in the world, 19 and dangerous. She is closely followed by Falling Mortem, her right arm and one of the most talented swordsman in the world. Each member of the group possesses a special ability. Venenum and her poison and traps. Inside with her arrows and precision. And finally Militum who possesses raw strength and amazing endurance.

The group returned to the palace and Whisper threw the head of the prey at the feet of the prince. He smiled in contempt.

All Ghost members stood still waiting for orders. As they stood in front of the throne, they could feel the mad Prince’s gaze piercing through them.

-”I have a new mission for you”, he said in a calm yet excited voice

-”Anything for you my king”, the Ghosts answer in unison

-”I want you to……”, he marked a pause, savoring every word he was saying, eyes gleaming with pure hatred. “I want you to Kill every king in this region.” He exploded in laughter, “IT’S FINALLY COME, I CAN FINALLY DO IT.” He yelled at the top of his lungs bursting in tears of joy as he contemplated the moment.

Whisper immediately understood, he could finally enact his vengeance, his only desire after his exile leading him to build an empire based on crime, a prison disguised as a city.

The group left as he continued laughing. And their gaze fell upon Whisper, waiting for her instructions.

She started thinking about how she would enact that plan. Where to start, how to do it. But most importantly, how to make sure the only person losing its life is the prey.

They headed to the baths, blood still dripping from Whisper and Falling’s fingers, venom eating at Venenum’s hand, dirt and grime covering Inside and Militum. The foul smell was awful, so strong you could feel your eyes water and mouth run dry, they said “you’ll get used to it, we all do someday” but that day had yet to come and it probably never will. Whisper could spend nights cleaning herself in the hope of getting it off, but it was in vain the smell was embedded in her head and she could not get it out, so she cried silently in the dark letting the tears wash her face with salt. She never cried, not since that “day” that is, the only place she could let everything go for a mere second was the baths, under the dirty water she could scream and cry, no-one would ever know.

Venenum always concocted various products to remove different kinds of stain, she would test them on Militum in the risk of a product being dangerous or even lethal. Militum was big, strong and sturdy, but what he had in raw physical aptitude he lacked in intelligence, the scar on his neck offered a pretty good explanation as to why that is, but he hid it with a black scarf. Venenum had a new hair product to test today and smothered his head with the slimy liquid resembling black ink. He sat there, the black goo foaming on his head, Venenum’s piercing green eyes locked into his waiting for a response. The foam disappeared after a few seconds and the black substance went back to normal.

-”Well, I guess that’s good” she had said it with a slight hint of disappointment that seemed to suggest a more sinister outcome was what she was hoping for

Militum was staring into her eyes, mesmerized by their bright green, the eyes of the snake. These eyes were feared for they belonged to the family of “the taster” a man with bright green eyes who was a taster for the king, he made himself immune to various poisons and never presented symptoms when submitted to dangerous substances. He managed to trick an entire court during a royal ball by drinking the king’s wine to “taste” it when it was heavily poisoned. He was a faithful friend of the Mad Prince and left to join him in his exile, his family is feared and known in the exiled kingdom. And it just so happens Venenum is his granddaughter.

Militum was trying to recall Venenum’s family history but was too distracted by her spraying his head with water to observe the results of her new product.

While the alchemist with green eyes was occupied with the brick wall with a head, Inside was fighting with her tunic. She was by far the youngest of the group, eldest of a family of hunter’s, she uses her bow and crossbow like they’re an extension of her body. She has amazing vision and such good aim that she could shoot a sparrow down from the other side of the forest with one arrow. She is 14 but has the respect of all the other Ghosts, they don’t care about age, size, body, they only care about accomplishments, abilities and cunningness. Her tunic was tight to prevent it from getting into her way and stuck in her arrows. It was a black tunic with various leather pieces placed around her arms and shoulders to insure she wouldn’t get hurt on her arrows and bows. Swift Slayer, her signature bow, got stuck in her hair preventing her from removing her tunic, her short yet extremely messy and curly hair was twisting and twirling around the bow and she considered shaving it off then and there.

“Oookay, i’ll take it from here Inny”

    “THANK YOU WHISP”

“No need to scream Inny, just don’t move i’ll be quick”

In a fast and precise movement Whisper removed the bow from Inside’s hair, the young girl looked at her savior with stars in her eyes. Inside was a huge fan of Whisper, ready to die for her and willing to follow every order she gives. She admired her ever since Whisper saved her from wolves while Inside was out hunting on her own after an argument with her dad.

Everyone was busy with their equipment, cleaning and removing the blood stuck in their hair and clothes. While they were occupied Whisper waited, she never cleaned herself at the same time as them, she would help with doing so but always waited for the baths to be empty. Her eyes were moving quickly as if she were observing a map or image of her plan, she was extremely concentrated and the Ghosts knew not to disturb her while she was creating a plan. She left to go to the top of the watchtower, closed her eyes and fell into a deep reflection. It might not seem like it but she cared deeply for the Ghosts, losing one of them due to a faulty plan would be devastating. The univer

se went silent as she revisited the entire world in her head.
