Chapter 71

    Charles had left.

This was a man who could drop everything for Dahlia and her daughter.

Evelyn''s lips curled into a cold smile as she anticipated the day Charles would finally see the true colors of the woman and daughter he cherished so much.

Evelyn stretched and headed back into the bathroom. Ten minutester, she emerged, fresh and wrapped in a towel. She grabbed some clothes from the dryer, changed, and went downstairs to grab a drink of water.

After finishing her water, Evelyn didn''t feel sleepy at all. Since she didn''t have any mtonin to help her sleep, she decided to check out the gym instead.

As she walked down the long corridor and turned the corner, she spotted a familiar figure standing nearby. It was Carmen engrossed in a phone call with her back turned.

Carmen had watched Charles drive off earlier, and the tension in her expression had finally eased. "Well, you''ve got some talent. I''ll give you that! Dahlia, I dropped fifty million just to get you that top spot and a smooth entry into Carlisle Jewels. I''veid the path for you. Don''t let me down!"

Then, Carmen ended the call and gracefully headed towards the gym, where she had her nightly workout routine.

Evelyn stayed hidden in the shadows, her eyes wide with shock as she watched the rain pour down outside. She hadn''t expected to find out that Charles didn''t snatch her first-ce prize in the jewelry contest for Dahlia.

She remembered the day of the designpetition award ceremony. When she was

    backstage, Sena tried to rile

    up

and imed that Charles loved Dahlia enough to break his own rules for her. Charles had shown up out of the blue, and as he was about to enter the makeup room, she noticed Dahlia and Sena''s expressions change drastically.

At the time, she was preupied with worries about Charlie''s grave and didn''t give it much thought. Now, it seemed obvious that Dahlia and Sena were terrified of Charles overhearing them, which exined their intense reactions. After all, Charles hated anything

underhanded. If he ever found out

    about this...

In the dim light of night, Evelyn''s lips curved into a subtle smile.

It was Evelyn''s first day at Carlisle Jewels, and to avoid traffic, she took the subway. On the way, she bumped into Grace, the girl who hade in third ce. They walked into thepany together, ughing and chatting.

As they waited by the elevator,

Dahlia walked in from outside. When

she spotted Evelyn, she pulled out her phone while striding over. "Charles, I''m at the elevator now. Don''t worry, I know you''ve got my back. Okay, I''ll stop now. I''m in the elevator. Drive safe."

With a sweet smile, she hung up as the elevator doors slid open. The three of them stepped inside, standing at the back. Grace looked at Dahlia with sparkling eyes of admiration and asked, "Ms. Dahlia, did Mr. Jenkins bring you here?" "Yeah," Dahlia replied with a smile, her happiness radiating without a word.

"Ms. Dahlia, you and Mr. Jenkins seem to have such a great rtionship," Grace gushed, starry-eyed and clearly impressed.

Dahlia just smiled, her silence speaking volumes, as her gaze shifted provocatively toward Evelyn.
