Chapter 98

When Evelyn woke up, she asked Rosa to help her look into that incident. Rosa reassured her that she had already done the digging. Evelyn''s number was used to contact the mysterious man, but her ount had been hacked that day, and she had a solid alibi to prove it, clearing her name. Tony had also investigated Dahlia but came up empty-handed. There were no records of any transactions between Dahlia and the suspect. They didn''t know each other, and Dahlia had never met him privately. If Rosa couldn''t find anything, it probably meant there was nothing to find.

In other words, the evidence Tony had gathered could only prove to Charles that Evelyn wasn''t the one behind the incident. But it wasn''t enough to show him Dahlia''s true nature and that she had orchestrated the whole thing. Evelyn decided to pass on Rosa''s suggestion to confront Charles and demand an apology. Charles'' apology was worthless to Evelyn. The damage was already done. What good would his apology do?

It was clear that Evelyn didn''t hold a ce in Charles'' heart. Even if she proved the ount wasn''t hers, he might still doubt her. After all, he believed that if it wasn''t Evelyn, who else could it be?

Rosa noticed Evelyn''s reluctance and assumed she was too in love with Charles to hold a grudge. She asked, "Eve, are you really going to let this slide?"

Evelyn responded with firm resolve, "No way! How could I let Dahlia dodge responsibility after framing me?"

    ...

The car door swung open, and

Evelyn stepped out slowly. Meanwhile, Dahlia was unceremoniously tossed out by the bodyguard. "Ugh!" She let out a pained whimper, muffled by the gag in her mouth. Sprawled on the ground, she red up at Evelyn with bloodshot, angry eyes, her

expression seething with hatred. Her words were muffled, but it was clear she was cursing.

Evelyn met her with a cold stare, gave a quick signal to the

bodyguard, and strode into the vi. The bodyguard dragged Dahlia along by the cor. His long strides made it impossible for Dahlia to keep up with her hands tied Her feet scraped along the ground, leaving her shoes behind, and her toes bled as she was hauled inside.

Once they reached the basement, it dawned on Dahlia what Evelyn had nned. Standing outside the basement door, the bodyguard finally removed the filthy towel from Dahlia''s mouth. "Evelyn, you bitc-" Dahlia started, but before she could finish, Evelyn''s hand whipped across her face, cutting her off.

The p turned Dahlia''s head to the side, a thin line of blood appearing at the corner of her mouth. "You!" Dahlia began, but she swallowed her words under Evelyn''s steely gaze. With defiance in her eyes, she challenged, "Evelyn, what gives you the right to hold me here?"

"What right?" Evelyn chuckled. "Dahlia, you''re already here, and you''re asking such a ridiculous question. Why do I need a reason? Today, I just feel like it, and what can you do about it?"

Dahlia had set her up, but Evelyn knew shecked concrete evidence to pin it on Dahlia. She had cleared her own name, leaving only Dahlia''s possible self-sabotage. However, Charles loved Dahlia so much that even solid evidence might not be enough. As long as Dahlia shed a

    tear, Charles would melt and

    wouldn''ty a finger on her.
