Never being able to walk again, stuck in a wheelchair for life-how could she possibly wrap her head around that?!
"Doctor! Where''s the doctor?!"
Dahlia was losing it, frantically pressing the call button and yelling her head off like she''dpletely lost her mind.
The doctor rushed in, and Dahlia grabbed his arm, all but shouting, "What kind of treatment is this? Why can''t I feel my legs?"
The doctor, who had seen his fair share of hysterical patients, spoke in a soothing tone, "Please, Miss, try to stay calm."
He''d been in this line of work long enough to have seen plenty of cases like Dahlia''s people who couldn''te to terms with being unable to walk after an ident, losing itpletely.
But Dahlia wasn''t having any of it. She yanked him closer by the cor, her voice dripping with anger.
"Calm? How do you expect me to be calm? I can''t feel my legs at all!"
"You want me to calm down? I can''t! Fix this, now! Do you hear me? Or you''re out of this hospital!"
The doctor frowned at her threat, gently pulling her hands off and stepping back. "Miss, you fell from a significant height and injured your spinal nerves. I''ve done all I can."
"What do you mean, ''all you can''?"
Dahlia''s eyes were wide with rage.
"Don''t you get it?" a voice chimed in sarcastically from the side, belonging to a woman who had just pped Dahlia twice. "The doc means you''re paralyzed and will spend your life in a chair."
There was zero sympathy in her tone. She looked at Dahlia with disdain, like karma was finally catching up to her.
The phrase "spend your life in a wheelchair" echoed in Dahlia''s mind.
Suddenly, she remembered how she had pushed Evelyn''s buttons the night before. Evelyn, at her wit''s end, had shouted, "Dahlia, what goes aroundes around. You''ll get what''sing to you!"
No!
What retribution? She was lucky, wasn''t she?

She had kept it with her all this time.
Later, in desperate need of money, she tried to sell Debbie''s locket.
The deal didn''t go through, but Charles''s men brought her to him.
Only then did she realize that the blind, crazed man from back then had regained his sight and was now Mr. Charles of the famous Jenkins family.
A handsome man.
A prestigious background.
What woman wouldn''t be charmed?
She took a gamble and imed she was Debbie.
And just like that, she became Charles''s cherished one.
The apple of his eye.
Initially, she was scared stiff.
After all, she was living a lie.
And she''d heard about Charles''s ruthless side.
She knew if her secret got out, she''d be in serious trouble.
But
never
s time went on, the real Debbie up, and she
feel safe.
Someone as lucky as her couldn''t face retribution!
Her legs would be fine!
This doctor was obviously a quack.
Charles would find the best doctors, and they''d fix her up.
Dahlia shot a venomous look at the woman. "Just you wait."
With that,
her voice sharp and demanding
"Where''s my phone?"
She turned to the nurse, e
