《A Sleepless Apocalypse》 Chapter 1: A Not So Great Start Chapter 1: A Not So Great Start He laid on the floor, staring up, his body too weak to move. ¡°Fuck. Goddamnit!! Fuck!!! Why!....why¡..why me? Am I the one who''s wrong? Is that why you abandoned me here? I never left you, I never complained, I¡¯m still in love¡ but you never truly felt the same, did you? Heh. Oh. Of course. That¡¯s what it was. It''s my fault. It always is. If I wasn¡¯t here, then none of this would have happened¡. I can¡¯t blame you. You stayed by my side for so long, despite my faults, despite my sins. If I die here, we win, don¡¯t we? Nobody else has to die¡..¡± He said, growing softer and more quiet. ¡°.....I¡¯m so¡..tired. I...I don¡¯t want to die¡Help...me...I don''t....¡± The boy said, falling silent. A boy, slender in frame, small in size, with dark dark blue hair, almost black, closed his eyes, a single tear sliding down his cheek. His arm that he had stretched out to the stars in the sky slowly lowered. He fell asleep. His ragged breathing ceased, his pounding heart stopped. There was a loud creaking sound coming from within the boy''s body. His body started to convulse violently. his ribs shattered, his chest expanded. He started to bloat like a balloon, and exploded into chunks. A large scream echoed from the remaining torso, which was now barely a pair of legs. After the screeching stopped, a sound like burning metal being plunged into ice cold water began, a slowly fading wail accompanying it, until no more sound came from the corpse. It died. It had finally been killed. The horror was finally gone. The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
¡°Rex, we did it. It¡¯s dead!¡± A girl said. Rex stared at the body. ¡°Do you still feel something for him?¡± The girl asked. Rex snorted. ¡°Him? No. He was just convenient¡.useful. From...from the very beginning, I felt nothing¡. nothing at all.¡± Rex said. The girl watched Rex in disbelief. ¡°Convenient? I won¡¯t deny it, but...you gave him everything, didn¡¯t you?¡± The girl asked. ¡°....Yes. I did. A fool¡¯s mistake, one made by a younger me. This was unavoidable since the very start. I knew that.¡± Rex said. ¡°Rex, are you saying you never lov-¡° the girl started. There was a loud bang. ¡°Shut up! Don¡¯t talk about something that you have nothing to do with.¡± Rex said through clenched teeth, punching the tree beside him. The girl flinched. ¡°Rex¡.¡± The girl said nervously. ¡°You really are a pain.¡± Rex said. ¡°Rex, it isn¡¯t good to deny your feelings. It¡¯s only going to hur-!¡± The girl started. Rex punched her. ¡°I SAID SHUT UP!!¡± Rex yelled, pushing her to the floor and punching her again. She coughed, and puked up some blood. She looked him in the eyes, and smiled. Her smile, to him, seemed worse than any monster. It looked a lot more dead than one, too. ¡°You still love him. You killed him, you know. You could have done some-¡° the girl started. Rex hit her. Again. And again. And again. When he had finished, his knuckles had the skin scraped off. He had killed her. He killed another person. He sat for a minute, thinking. He looked at his blood stained hands. ¡°You¡ you were right.¡± Rex said, falling onto his back. He started laughing hysterically. ¡°Well, it¡¯s not fair only they get to escape from this hell. It¡¯s¡. it¡¯s my turn. I can¡¯t do this anymore, Raven. I¡¯ll meet you two up there soon.¡± Rex said, smiling pitifully. A gunshot went off. Chapter 2: Waking With A Start Chapter 2: Waking With A Start ¡°Gah!¡± Rex yelled, waking up with a violent start, the dog tags around his neck jingling. A wiggling lump was hiding beneath the covers on his left side, sleeping soundly. ¡°Raven? Is¡.where¡. I¡¯m back. I¡¯m back again. I¡ I remember? Wh-what the hell is this? Raven!¡± Rex yelled. He tore the blanket off of the sleeping person beside him. Underneath them was a dark blue haired boy. He was skinny, and short. He grumbled, waking up. ¡°Rex? What? Are you okay? Did you have a nightmare?¡± Raven asked, rubbing his eyes. He reached over to the bedside table and grabbed his glasses, adjusting them on his face drowsily. He studied Rex for a second. ¡°You¡¯re awfully pale! Are you feeling okay? Are you sick?¡± Raven asked, waking up a little bit more. Rex just stared at him. ¡°Rex¡.?¡± Raven asked, tilting his head. He felt Rex¡¯s forehead with his palm. Rex immediately backed off, turning away. ¡°I¡¯m...fine. I¡¯ll go make breakfast.¡± Rex said, getting up from the bed and leaving the room quickly.
Raven stretched, sitting in the bed for a few minutes sleepily. ¡°Wasn¡¯t it my turn to make breakfast? Wait¡ does he even know how to make breakfast?....fuck. He burned the house last time!¡± Raven shouted. His eyes shot open wide with realization, and he ran into the kitchen. Rex was making a full course meal, without a single flaw. It was as though he had become a professional chef overnight.Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. Raven stared at him with bulging eyes, and a jaw that hung open as wide as was humanly possible. ¡°Hm? Oh, I didn¡¯t expect you to actually get up already. Take a seat at the table, I¡¯ll have our food ready in a minute.¡± Rex said, humming. ¡°Your eyes are red. And you¡¯re fidgeting. What happened? Where did you learn to cook? You seem different, too. Older. Not physically, but¡ Rex, are you sure you¡¯re alright?¡± Raven asked worriedly. Rex had an expression on his face, similar to that of a child before they cry. ¡°I¡¯m fine. As I said, I¡¯m...fine.¡± Rex faced away. ¡°.....Alright, then. If you don¡¯t want to tell me, I can¡¯t help you.¡± Raven said. ¡°I can¡¯t tell you.¡± Rex said, unintentionally. ¡°Oh? And why is that?¡± Raven asked, coaxing Rex into talking. ¡°Becau-Wait. Stop it with the psych student bullshit, okay? I don¡¯t think it¡¯s a good idea to talk about it.¡± Rex said, shaking his head. Raven looked shocked. Usually Rex would open up to him about almost anything. ¡°Tch. Fine. But seriously, I want to help you out if there¡¯s a problem.¡± Raven said, crossing his skinny arms. ¡°That¡. Raven, what if I said that I want to break up with you?¡± Rex asked. ¡°I wouldn¡¯t believe you if you did.¡± Raven frowned. Of course he wouldn''t. Rex flipped an egg, having gone silent. ¡°How do you like your eggs again?¡± Rex asked. ¡°Huh? You forgot? Sunny side up, obviously! It reminds me to stay positive!¡± Raven said enthusiastically, trying to lighten the mood desperately. Rex smiled, putting a plate with two sunny side up eggs, a piece of toast, and sausage in front of Raven. ¡°Hey, wait! So you did remember!¡± Huffed Raven, his cheeks puffed in mock anger. Rex laughed from the bottom of his heart. ¡°Just eat up, okay? It¡¯s not often I make this, so¡ enjoy it.¡± Rex said. ¡°No shit. Last time you cooked you nearly burned the entire building to the ground! Don''t you remember last months incident?¡± Raven remarked. Rex froze, remembering something. ¡°W-what day is it today?¡± Rex asked nervously. ¡°It¡¯s Friday.¡± Raven answered. ¡°No, the date.¡± Rex corrected. ¡°Oh. It¡¯s November 20th.¡± Raven said. ¡°What...year?¡± Rex asked, frowning. Raven gave him an incredulous look. ¡°Um... I feel like a broken record here, but are you absolutely, positively, 100% fine?¡± Raven asked. ¡°Can you just tell me?¡± Rex said, slightly frustrated. ¡°Woah, okay. Fine, jeez. It¡¯s 2097. You could just check your phone, yknow.¡± Raven replied, putting his hands up in mock surrender. ¡°20¡.97? Fuck.¡± Rex said, his eyes widening for a moment. ¡°Rexy, I think I should get you to a hospital. You did bash your head pretty hard yesterday, so I¡¯m not too surprised. You might have a concussion.¡± Raven said. Before Rex could respond or object to Raven calling him Rexy, an alarm clock went off in the other room. Chapter 3: Breadwinner, Begin! Chapter 3: Breadwinner, Begin! ¡°Ah, crap. I have class this morning. This food is way too damn good to pass up, I¡¯ll just skip. It should be fine, right?¡± Raven asked, fully expecting Rex to yank the food away and chide him for not attending. Rex just sat there silently. Raven swallowed the food he had just shoved in his mouth. ¡°Actually, I think I might go today.¡± Raven said, concerned. ¡°Mm.¡± Rex replied distantly. Raven got dressed and ready to go. ¡°I¡¯m heading out, I¡¯ll be back later okay?¡± Raven asked. ¡°Yeah¡ just promise me you¡¯ll come home safely this time.¡± Rex said. ¡°I¡.promise? Anyway, seeya Rexy!¡± Raven said, bolting away. ¡°Why yo-¡° Raven heard Rex say as the door closed. Raven headed for the college campus that he attended classes at. He wasn¡¯t going there to actually attend class this time, though. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it ¡°Yeah, Soyo should know at least a little bit on what I should do. No, first I¡¯ll grab some books at the library. Maybe those can help me.¡± Raven said, sighing. He headed off towards the college library. When he arrived, he went to the medical section and started to look for materials on mental well being and depression, and chose a few to check out. As he brought them to the checkout counter, a voice spoke to him. ¡°Raven? Are you doing alright? Those are some pretty heavy books.¡± The voice said. ¡°Oh, Soyo. I was actually going to go look for you after this. And don¡¯t worry, I¡¯m plenty strong, despite how I may seem!¡± Raven said. ¡°I didn¡¯t mean the physical kind of heavy, Raven. That¡¯s about depression and mental illness, right? What¡¯s up with that?¡± Soyo asked. ¡°That¡¯s why I wanted to look for you, actually. Let me just check these out so we can go somewhere else. It¡¯s not exactly something I want to talk about in a public place like this.¡± Raven said. ¡°And you¡¯re bringing it up with me, why?¡± Soyo asked. ¡°Because it has to do with Rex.¡± Raven replied. Soyo¡¯s eyes widened slightly. ¡°Ah. I see. I¡¯ll meet you out front. We can go and talk at the hill.¡± Soyo said. ¡°Right. Fine.¡± Raven answered. He checked out his books and left. As he walked out of the door, Soyo yanked a book out of his hand. ¡°There. Lighter load now, right? Hurry up.¡± Soyo said. They reached the hill and sat down. ¡°Now, tell me, what does any of this have to do with my brother?¡± Soyo asked. Chapter 4: Depression? Growing Concern Begins Chapter 4: Depression? Growing Concern Begins ¡°I see. So that¡¯s what¡¯s going on. He¡¯s always been strange, but that doesn¡¯t seem like him, no matter how I look at it. What the heck happened? I don¡¯t think people can just change so randomly, can they?¡± Soyo wondered. ¡°I don¡¯t know. That¡¯s why I checked out these books. He seems like¡. he isn¡¯t all here. Somethings wrong¡± Raven said. ¡°You told me that already.¡± Soyo said. ¡°Yeah, but¡.Iy''s just pretty weird. He even made breakfast properly. That isn''t something the Rex I know is capable of.¡± Raven said. ¡°What will we do if he actually does have a debilitating mental illness? That¡¯s pretty rough, isn¡¯t it?¡± Soyo asked. ¡°Well¡. I¡¯ll take care of him. I¡¯ll stay by his side. You don¡¯t have to worry.¡± Raven said, an unwavering smile on his face. ¡°And how would you care for him?¡± Soyo asked. ¡°I¡¯m the breadwinner in our house, I¡¯ll have you know. My part time job is a large part of our expenses.¡± Raven said. ¡°And that¡¯s why I asked. You have a job, and on top of that, you have school to worry about, too. The money¡¯s going to run out, eventually.¡± Soyo said. ¡°Well¡.The government sends us money because of Rex¡¯s service, so that lightens my load quite a lot. I don¡¯t have to worry about studying, so I just need to pass my classes. As for the job?...I haven¡¯t thought that far ahead yet. I¡¯ll get something figured out, though. Besides, it¡¯s not like we know whether he actually does have one or not. PTSD can change people sometimes, I think, so I¡¯m looking at that first.¡± Raven said. ¡°Oh...Right. I forgot about that¡.¡± Soyo said, looking away. ¡°It¡¯s not something you need to remember, really. Rex said that with war comes sacrifice. It¡¯s not our problem.¡± Raven said sadly. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. ¡°What?! Why would you say that!? Of course it¡¯s our problem!¡± Soyo exclaimed. ¡°I agree with that, but I don¡¯t know what to do. He already takes medication, and he refuses to go to a therapist. I can¡¯t force him, either. I mean, look at me.¡± Raven said, lifting his sleeve to reveal a skinny arm with no muscle to speak of. ¡°But...You just said it wasn¡¯t our problem, didn¡¯t you? I¡¯m confused.¡± Soyo said. ¡°Once an airhead, always an airhead. I meant that Rex was the one who said that.¡± Raven said. ¡°Hey! I¡¯m not dumb. At least, I¡¯m not as dumb as my brother. Why else do you think I worry so much?¡± Soyo asked. ¡°First, I never once said you were dumb. Just that you¡¯re an airhead. Second, Rex isn¡¯t as dumb as you probably think he is. He just isn¡¯t smart. He¡¯s average, like you.¡± Raven replied. ¡°Huh? Airhead means a stupid person. Wait, you didn¡¯t know that? HA! I¡¯m smarter than the school''s genius prodigy!¡± Soyo said. Raven sighed. ¡°Well, the exact definition of an airhead is a silly or foolish person. Sure, if you want to go through twists and turns with the synonyms, it would eventually be synonymous with stupid or dumb. I¡¯m using the word loosely, referring moreso to the general depiction of airheads in quite a lot of different works in media and fiction. Someone who doesn¡¯t always think before they speak, and who can¡¯t understand serious things. Now, I do disagree with that second part. You are able to be serious if the situation calls for it. I guess that you¡¯re right, though. That isn¡¯t the best way to put it. I¡¯d say that you¡¯re ditzy. Just a little less intense than the normal depiction of a ditzy person.¡± Raven said ¡°And there it is. Nevermind, fine. I give up, you win¡. You really can¡¯t stand it when someone says your wrong, can you.¡± Soyo said. Raven scowled. ¡°I can¡¯t think of a way to prove you wrong without proving you right on that...That¡¯s a huge setup.¡± Raven said, puffing his cheeks. ¡°Still cute.¡± Soyo said. ¡°I¡¯m married to your brother, please don¡¯t try to hit on me.¡± Raven said, sticking his tongue out at her. ¡°You know that isn¡¯t it! I¡¯m not like Lily. I was just thinking about how cute you and Rex are as a couple. You match each other almost comically well.¡± Soyo said. Raven frowned. ¡°I know you aren¡¯t like lily¡.¡± Raven said, ignoring the compliment completely. He got up and started picking up his stuff. "I''ll talk to you about it later...I have some stuff I need to read up on." Raven said, rushing off before Soyo could even utter a word. "Damn, for someone so weak, he''s pretty damn fast...I''ll have to apologize another time, then..." Soyo said, sighing. Chapter 5: The Nuke Initialization Chapter 5: The Nuke Initialization ¡°GET YOUR ASSES MOVING!¡± A voice shouted. There were soldiers and military personnel everywhere, rushing about. ¡°What about the third one?! We need new parts!¡± Another voice shouted. ¡°Get the damn Nuke out of here, prep it for launch at a moment''s notice!¡± Yet another voice shouted. Voices yelled and shouted, the entire complex busy with hard work. ¡°Sir, the nuke in bay three has a failed tamper. Bay fours collision chamber fell apart, as well.¡± A young man said. ¡°Fuck. Is there nothing working? Goddamnit, I wish Rex were here.¡± A man in his late 30s asked. ¡°No, Sir, Captain Stuart! Every other missile is good to launch! But may I ask a question?¡± The young man responded. ¡°...Granted.¡± Stuart said. ¡°Who is this Rex everybody talks about? Even you mentioned him.¡± The young man asked. ¡°You¡¯re new?¡± Stuart asked. ¡°Yes, Sir! I¡¯ve just been assigned here! My name is J! It is an honor to work with a great man such as yourself!¡± J said. ¡°J? Odd name. Regardless, be at ease. I¡¯m not particularly fond of the tightass routine. In other words, stop fucking yelling. Anyway, you asked who Rex was, right?¡± Stuart asked. ¡°Yes, Si-I mean, yes. Yes I did.¡± J responded. ¡°That¡¯s a long story. The easiest and shortest answer is that he¡¯s my friend. We were also partners in crime. Whenever we went on missions, usually it was Rex who was saving my ass. He¡¯s a man who has saved my life more times than I can count. He¡¯s also probably the most respected member of our entire military. Well, at least by everyone my rank or above. You can bet your ass he¡¯s gotten every last one of them out of a sticky situation. He¡¯s a hero.¡± Stuart said, praising him. ¡°Then why isn¡¯t he here?¡± J asked. ¡°Because¡.He saved our asses one too many times. He saw something that any man would probably...ugh. Anyway, he was captured before, and experienced something awful. That¡¯s why he isn¡¯t here.¡± Stuart said, shuddering. ¡°He¡¯s dead? And why did I never hear about him before coming here, if he¡¯s that important?¡± J asked. ¡°...He¡¯s alive. He was put on leave for emotional instability. Whatever he saw, he still has nightmares about it, even if he can''t remember it anymore. He isn¡¯t dead, he just isn¡¯t here anymore. As for why you¡¯ve never heard of him, it¡¯s because he¡¯s a secret weapon for the army. Well, he did a lot of undercover work. A lot of his missions were top secret. Even I don¡¯t have access to a lot of the records. Anyway, just treat him as a hero with even greater rank than me, if the subject ever comes up. Now, that¡¯s enough talk. Get back to work.¡± Stuart said.If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. ¡°Yes, sir. I¡¯ll take my leave, I need to go and check on some of the refuelling stations in the north. I¡¯ll have the reports on your desk by noon tomorrow.¡± J said. ¡°Oh? That¡¯s quite fast. I think you¡¯ll fit in well around here, if that¡¯s how good your work usually is. I¡¯ve seen some of it, so I know you aren¡¯t a slouch, either.¡± Stuart said, impressed. ¡°Yes, sir. But I don¡¯t think I care about fitting in that much. That¡¯s not why I¡¯m here.¡± J said. ¡°I see. Then you¡¯re dismissed. Good luck, J.¡± Stuart said. ¡°You...aren¡¯t going to harass me for that?¡± J asked. ¡°Everyone here has a story. You aren¡¯t the first, and you won¡¯t be the last. No matter how tragic it is, if you¡¯re still sane, it isn¡¯t much. Then again, you have to be pretty insane if you want to transfer here. Are you going to go do your work or not?¡± Stuart said. J left, saluting.
¡°A new guy?¡± A girl asked. ¡°Huh? Oh, Melissa. Yeah. He just transferred here under my command.¡± Stuart said. ¡°I liked the look in his eyes. Transfer the boy to me, instead.¡± Melissa said. ¡°And let someone else go through your training? Hell no. I don¡¯t care what the results of it are, that training is just torture.¡± Stuart said. ¡°I¡¯ve raised the strongest soldiers in our army with this training. All you need is the grit to get through the pain. At least tell him about my offer.¡± Melissa said. ¡°....You just said transfer him to me, you didn¡¯t give me an offer.¡± Stuart sighed. ¡°Oh, right. Uhhh. I¡¯ll double his pay?¡± Melissa asked. ¡°That¡¯s a waste. We don''t have the funds to do that whenever we want.¡± Stuart said, shaking his head. ¡°Hmm¡..Ah! I know! Tell him I¡¯ll help him get his revenge. I¡¯m the only one who can after all.¡± Melissa said, smiling villainously., ¡°And how do you know he wants any kind of revenge?¡± Stuart asked. ¡°His eyes. The look in his eyes when he said he didn¡¯t care about fitting in told me everything.¡± Melissa said. Stuart hesitated. He knew she was usually right when it came to reading people like that. ¡°Stuart, you know I¡¯m right. I¡¯m the only one who can help someone with something like that. And you know the feeling of wanting revenge, don¡¯t you? You know what a person is looking to do if it''s all for revenge, don''t you.¡± Melissa said. ¡°...Fine, I¡¯ll let him know about your offer.¡± Stuart relented. ¡°No need, I¡¯ll go talk to him myself. Oh, right. How is the thing with the nukes going?¡± Melissa asked. ¡°Horribly. They''re going to be fired at us pretty soon. They don¡¯t seem to care about blowing themselves up too. The whole world¡¯s probably about to go to shit. Everyone¡¯s fucked.¡± Stuart laughed. ¡°Figured as much. Seriously, we wouldn¡¯t have had this problem if they let Rex stay. Stupid fucking bigwig idiots.¡± Melissa said. ¡°I¡¯m pretty sure they wanted to do it out of Rex¡¯s own best interests. Nobody should have to go through that.¡± Stuart said. ¡°It couldn¡¯t be that crippling if he doesn¡¯t even remember it.¡± Melissa said. ¡°You haven¡¯t seen the tape. He''s been diagnosed with PTSD. And I¡¯m not surprised.¡± Stuart said, his face hardened, his mouth set in a hard line. ¡°Tape?¡± Melissa asked. ¡°Just stop. You have things to do, and I have to get some work of my own done. Let¡¯s get going.¡± Stuart said. Melissa sighed, but she listened to him. Chapter 6: Bomb Threat, A Remote Explosive Initialized. Chapter 6: Bomb Threat, A Remote Explosive Initialized. ¡°Classes suck. Why can¡¯t we just do everything online or something?¡± Raven grumbled. He was sitting in his class during a lecture, bored out of his mind. He was still in a bad mood from earlier. ¡°Ugh, I can¡¯t get that image out of my head again. Why did she have to remind me?¡± Raven asked, putting a book over his face and preparing to nap. ¡°Raven, this is my classroom, right? Not your goddamn bedroom! Wake the fuck up!¡± The teacher yelled, hitting him on the head. ¡°Ow! Damnit Susie!¡± Raven said. ¡°What did you just say?¡± Susie asked, the background behind her seemingly turning into the pits of hell. ¡°EEP! I didn¡¯t mean to say that out loud, forgive me Sus-Mrs. Suzuki!¡± Raven pleaded. The wall of flames disappeared. ¡°Whatever. Just don¡¯t fall asleep, or I¡¯ll kick your ass when you come home for the holidays.¡± Mrs. Suzuki sighed. ¡°Why not just do it after class instead? Isn¡¯t that easier?¡± Raven wondered. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. ¡°Oh? So you do want to get beaten up. Alright, I¡¯ll see you after class, Raven.¡± Suzuki said, smiling innocently. Raven started to sweat buckets. Suzuki went back up to the front of the class to teach, but before she could, someone held a knife to her throat and laughed. ¡°What?! You! You¡¯re Jason, right? What the hell do you think you¡¯re doing!¡± Suzuki said, starting to struggle. ¡°Yeah, it¡¯s me. Ah uh Ah. No moving. If you don¡¯t behave, the bomb I¡¯ve planted will go off, without me there to disarm it.¡± Jason said. Suzuki widened her eyes in alarm. Was this really happening? It didn¡¯t make sense to anybody in the class. Raven asked him a question out of sheer shock. ¡°W-W-Why? Jason, is there...eep! Um. Did we do anything wrong? Why are you doing this?¡± Raven asked. Jason scowled. He pulled out a gun and aimed it at Raven. ¡°You piss me off. You know, I hear that you¡¯re quite popular among the girls, right? What a waste. A weak, spineless, wimpy kid like you. A pretty boy. You asked me why? Because I¡¯m always ignored. Nobody pays attention to me at all, nobody cares. I get rejected by every person I talk to. So I decided to kill myself. But, I thought about it for a while. If I¡¯m going to die, I¡¯ll at least bring the people I hate down with me. And I¡¯ll have a little bit of fun while I do.¡± Jason said, cutting Suzuki¡¯s clothes with his knife. As it slid down, buttons popped off of her shirt, and it burst open. Her top was completely destroyed now, and a thin line of blood welled from a long shallow wound down the middle of her chest. She tried to cover herself up, but Jason forcefully stopped her struggle, pinning her down and zip tying her arms and legs. He muffled her mouth. Tears fell from her eyes, both from shame and from fear. Jason laughed maniacally. Chapter 7: Countdown To The End Of The World As We Know It Chapter 7: Countdown To The End Of The World As We Know It ¡°Fuck! Where are my damn keys!? Ugh, it¡¯s been too long since I¡¯ve used the damn thing for me to remember. Screw it! I¡¯ll just hotwire it.¡± Rex said, rushing to his motorbike outside. ¡°Come one, come on! Hurry up, damnit!¡± Rex yelled, punching the bike. It started. He stared at it blankly for a second. ¡°Wow. Percussive maintenance really does work sometimes. Wait, no! I have to go! If it really is today, Raven is probably in a shit ton of trouble right now! Oh, shit. Almost forgot the shovel.¡± Rex said, running to the garage and back. It looked like it was an entrenching shovel, and he had it slung over his back. He grinned, hopping onto his bike, and sped off at full speed. ¡°Yee-Haw! Damn, it¡¯s been ages since I¡¯ve driven this baby. And Raven said I was an idiot for buying it. Ah, shit, flies! I forgot the damn helmet. Pleth! Bleh!¡± Rex said, spitting bugs out of his mouth. He almost ran into a low hanging branch in the process. ¡°Woah ho ho! Almost lost my head there. Oh! There¡¯s the school.¡± Rex said. Indeed, the college was right in front of him, but it was blocked off by police and authorities. Rex ignored all of that, blasting through the barricade with his bike. He went to the corner of the school and ditched the people on his tail, abandoning the bike and rushing to the back door of the classroom where Raven should be at this time. He opened it quietly. ¡°HAHAHA, FUCKING IDIOTS! Ah, how I¡¯ve wanted to fondle these breas-¡± Jason started. Rex konked him over the head with his shovel, and spat on him. ¡°Don¡¯t touch my older sister, pervert....Suzie, are you hurt?! Shit. No, wait, I brought my knife, give me a second.¡± Rex said, undoing his older sisters bindings. ¡°R-Rex¡I was scared!¡± She cried, sobbing. ¡°Yeah...You¡¯re fine now, ok? I even brought a shovel to bury the idiot, so you don¡¯t have to see him again.¡± He said, spitting on the corpse once more.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. Suzuki looked at the body of the boy. There was blood starting to pool beside his head. She recoiled in fear, the sight of blood bringing back bad memories. Rex noticed. ¡°....There. Now you don¡¯t have to look at it again.¡± Rex said, throwing a curtain onto Jason after ripping it off of the windows. She nodded, unable to speak, despite her mouth having already been freed. ¡°Raven, are you okay?¡± Rex asked, rushing over. ¡°IDIOT! What are we supposed to do now?¡± Raven asked, freaking out. ¡°What?¡± Rex asked, alarmed. ¡°A BOMB! HE HAD A BOMB!¡± Raven yelled. Rex relaxed. ¡°Oh, that¡¯s what you meant. Here. I already disarmed the damn thing. It was under the lectern.¡± Rex said, placing a timed explosive on the desk in front of him. Raven took off his glasses, wiping them with a cloth. He put them back on and inspected it carefully. ¡°Flawless¡.I should have expected that¡*sigh*. When did you learn to defuse explosives?¡± Raven asked, calming down a little bit. ¡°Oh!...Uh...In the army.¡± Rex said. Raven frowned. ¡°You still haven¡¯t told me what you did in the army, I thought you were just a soldier?¡± Raven asked. ¡°No¡.I was¡.You¡¯re right, I was a normal soldier. Just like anyone else.¡± Rex said, shaking his head. ¡°I¡¯m pretty sure ¡®normal soldiers¡¯ aren¡¯t taught how to disarm this kind of explosive.¡± Raven said, crossing his arms. Rex looked at him for a moment, then shrugged. ¡°Fine. I didn¡¯t expect an answer anyway. How did you get here so quickly¡.No, wait, how did you even know what was going on?¡± Raven asked, growing more and more suspicious. Rex flinched. ¡°Uh...well, we don¡¯t live too far from the school, right? I heard people talking about someone sending a bomb threat to the school, so I rushed over.¡± Rex said. ¡°And how did you know where he was?¡± Raven asked. ¡°I didn¡¯t. I knew where you and my sisters were. If he wasn¡¯t here, I was going to go and find Soyo in the library, to make sure she was fine, too.¡± Rex said. ¡°But...How did you find the bomb? This is too big of a coincidence, even if you can explain all of it away. What¡¯s happening? You¡¯ve seemed strange for a while now, ever since this morning. It¡¯s way too suspicious.¡± Raven said. Rex sighed. ¡°Fine. I¡¯ll admit that, yes, something is going on. Something big is going to be happening. The world¡¯s about to go to shit, and soon. Stuart, a friend of mine from the army, talked about it before...¡± Rex said. ¡°Wait, what? Please don¡¯t joke around like that¡.Is it the war? Are things escalating that badly? I thought it was almost over!¡± Raven said. ¡°Tch. Far from it. I wish it was over. We¡¯ve been prepping nukes to fire at china, for the past few months. Well, no, yeah. It¡¯s november now, so¡. I think since September. They already decided to fire theirs. The nuclear threat has been going on for a lot longer than you would think.¡± Rex said. ¡°Is that why there¡¯s all those new bunkers being built?¡± Raven asked. ¡°B¡.unkers?¡± Rex asked, passing out from trauma.
