《AOT: The Magic Tower.》 Chapter 1: Yukio / The Tower, From Afar Chapter 1: Yukio / The Tower, From Afar He had been in the world of the magic tower his entire life, longing to finally visit the tall spire that was barely visible in the distance. He heard a voice call out to him from behind. ¡°Hey, Yukio, stop staring at the lake and help out a little bit.¡± A voice asked ¡°Huh? Oh. So we¡¯re actually leaving? You sure you¡¯re okay with this, mom?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°You''ve wanted to go to the magic academy since you were a kid, right? I finally got a chance to send you without the village elder giving me a hard time, and now you ask me that? I already arranged for us to live with some family. C¡¯mon, Yukio, just help me okay? These are pretty heavy.¡± Mom said, trying to lift a suitcase onto a carriage. ¡°Why is there a carriage coming to pick us up? Isn¡¯t that for super high class fancy people?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Yeah, the family we are going to stay with are super high class fancy people. Or rather, they''re a part of the aristocracy. Kinda.¡± Mom said. ¡°Then why have we been out here in a village for our entire lives? Are we.....nobles?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Noblility is definitely not the best explanation. Do you know how the magic tower works?¡± Mom asked.Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. ¡°It¡¯s magic, right?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Yeah. Where does the magic come from? How can a place like this world exist?¡± Mom asked. ¡°Um. The books said that there was a god, and that god created this world. He gave it to a young girl. Then, she built our world here, and connected it with the eizalk or something kingdom. I think. She handed over control of the tower to her daughter so she could focus on other things, though. But they said that the daughter disappeared.¡± Yukio said. ¡°Well¡ that¡¯s not exactly right. You''ll find out when we get there. I¡¯ll just let you get a firsthand experience of what it¡¯s like in the tower city.¡± Mom said. She pushed back a few strands of reddish pink hair behind her ear, and smiled, with sparkling blue eyes. ¡°Do you know anything about that girl, Yukio? The girl who disappeared?¡± Mom asked. ¡°Yes. If I''m not mistaken, then...She''s the daughter of the previous tower master, and is the current tower master. She¡¯s the one in charge of everything. Basically our king. I don¡¯t know anything else. Other than the fact that she looks around 19-25. Oh, and she¡¯s one of the most gifted magicians of all time, like her mom.¡± Yukio said. ¡°That¡¯s all correct.¡± Mom said. ¡°Oh. Oh! Hey! Look, the tower!¡± Yukio said. ¡°Yup. Looks like it always has.¡± Mom sighed. ¡°You never seem happy when we talk about the tower. Do you not like it there?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°No¡ it¡¯s not that, it¡¯s just too bothersome. Let¡¯s just relax and enjoy the ride. Come here, rest.¡± Mom said. She patted her lap, a beautiful smile adorning her young and pretty face. ¡°Mom-¡° Yukio started. ¡°Ah, Ah, Ah! Listen to your mother, Yukio. Just lay down. We¡¯ll be there in a minute.¡± Mom said. Yukio laid down in his mothers lap obediently, and fell asleep. Chapter 2: Akane / The Front Door Chapter 2: Akane / The Front Door ¡°Yukio. Yukio.¡± Mom said, gently nudging Yukio awake. ¡°Mmh? Oh¡ Mom. Gmorning.¡± Yukio said. He yawned. ¡°You were a lot sleepier than I thought. The entire night and most of the day already went by, it''s already evening. We arrived, so let¡¯s get out before you fall asleep again.¡± Mom said. She went out to get the luggage. ¡°Madam, I¡¯ll do that for you. You mustn''t strain yourself any further. We will take the luggage to your room.¡± A voice said. ¡°I would rather bring it in myself.¡± Mom argued. ¡°Why? Aren¡¯t they trying to help us?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°That-...Yeah. They are.¡± Mom relented. ¡°We already listened when you insisted on packing all your luggage on the carriage by yourself. We cannot let you do such a menial task again.¡± The voice said. ¡°Burlet, I¡¯m fully capable of doing it myself.¡± Mom said. ¡°Apologies, madam Akane, but this is our job.¡± Burlet said. ¡°Yeah...yeah, I know. I just... Nevermind.¡± Mom said. ¡°Mom, is that your name? Akane?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Eh? Oh, yeah. It¡¯s fitting, right? With such bright red and pink hair?¡± Mom asked, playing with her bright redish pink hair. ¡°It looks like it¡¯s glittering.¡± Yukio said. ¡°Oh, that¡¯s because the sun is setting. It seems to sparkle in the orange light. Sunsets are pretty, right?¡± Mom asked, smiling. Yukio nodded. ¡°Why did you never tell me your name?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°You never asked me.¡± Mom said. ¡°Well, Mom¡¯s Mom. But it is fitting. Your hair is beautiful. It always has been. Now that I think about it, I always was curious as to why we had different colored hair than everyone else. Is this why? Why were we in the village if we could live here, instead?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Well¡ I didn¡¯t want to drag you into this, but you seem to show genuine interest in magic. As well as an insane talent in it. You already condensed a core, didn¡¯t you?¡± Mom asked. ¡°What?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Huh? A core. The crystal in the middle of your mana?¡± Mom asked. ¡°Oh, that thing? I have no idea what that is. It just appeared when I was practicing one day. It did startle me, though.¡± Yukio said. ¡°Yeah. I guess it would seem rather odd. Do you know what category it is?¡± Mom asked.A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. ¡°What? What do you mean?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°The core. The mana core, that crystal. What type of magic does it rule over?¡± Mom asked. ¡°I- I don¡¯t know. How do I find out?¡± Yukio asked, slightly overwhelmed and confused. ¡°Well....It will be quicker to go and find my mother for that. Let¡¯s go inside.¡± Mom said, gesturing to the tower. ¡°Huh? The tower? People aren¡¯t normally allowed in there.¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Yeah, but this isn¡¯t normally. You always said you wanted to see it, didn¡¯t you?¡± Mom asked. ¡°I mean, yeah. But why would they let us in? Weren¡¯t we going to be heading over there?¡± Yukio asked, pointing to a building. ¡°For what?¡± Mom asked. ¡°For staying at.¡± Yukio replied. ¡°Yukio¡ I know you don¡¯t always pay attention to things, but that¡¯s a school. It¡¯s the academy. The one you¡¯re going to be attending.¡± Mom said. ¡°Oh! Wait, then why would we be here? The only other place here is the tower.¡± Yukio said, as they approached the entrance to the tower Two women stood guard, and they crossed their weapons to stop their entry. ¡°Leave. You have no business with us, child.¡± The one who was on the right, her right, and held a great sword, said. ¡°See? I told you they wouldn¡¯t let us in, Mom.¡± Yukio said. ¡°They won¡¯t? You two idiots. What the hell are you doing?¡± Mom asked Her hair blew in the wind, the pinkish red once again glittering in the light of the setting sun. ¡°Ah!!! Madam Akane!¡± The one on the left yelled. ¡°Yes, it''s me. Hi Hidari. So, you do recognize me. That¡¯s good. I thought I might have to break in.¡± Mom said, scowling. ¡°Mom? You sound angry, are you all right?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Huh? Ah! Sorry, this place frustrates me a little bit. I might grumble occasionally. Please forgive mom, okay??¡± Mom begged, hugging Yukio. ¡°Mom you¡¯re coddling me again. I¡¯m not a child.¡± Yukio said, squirming. ¡°Nonsense! You¡¯re my child, I have a right to hug you whenever I want!¡± Mom said, going full on mom mode. ¡°Moooom! There¡¯s people here!¡± Yukio complained. ¡°Huh? What¡¯s that matter?¡± Mom asked, squeezing him even harder. ¡°Um. Madam Akane? That is you.... right?¡± The one on the right asked. ¡°Huh? Oh, Tadashi. I¡¯m busy. Leave me be.¡± Mom said, suddenly scowling at her. ¡°Ah! Yes!¡± Dashi yelped. Mom went back into mom mode. ¡°This is lasting longer than normal. Ack! Mom. Mom, not there. Ahhhh!¡± Yukio fell to the floor, laughing. His mother was tickling his sides with a mischevious look in her eyes. ¡°Um. Dashi, what exactly am I looking at?¡± Hidari asked. ¡°I¡¯m...not too sure¡¡± Dashi responded. A few minutes passed. Mom had exhausted herself quickly. ¡°Mom? Are you ok? That was a bit much.¡± Yukio said, still trembling from being tickled. ¡°Huh? Ah! Sorry, Yukio! I lost myself. You¡¯re a bit too cute!¡± Mom said, smiling. ¡°Thanks Mom. But didn¡¯t you say something about the tower?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Oh. Right. Hidari, Tadashi. You don¡¯t mind letting us in now do you?¡± Mom asked. ¡°Ah. Of course, please enter.¡± They said nervously. Yukio and Akane walked into the bottom floor, the lobby. ¡°Mom, where are we? Why did they let us in? Who are you?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Oh.¡ I¡¯m the daughter of the tower master. Akane Suzuki. I¡¯m in charge of everything around here. I left here over 15 years ago. That¡¯s when I had you. You were the reason I didn''t come back. I¡¯m not going to put my child through this. That¡¯s what I thought, at least. But this is what you wanted to do. So here we are. This is mom''s tower. Welcome to my tower of magic, Yukio!¡± Akane said, gesturing to everything around her, smiling, with a massive grin. It was impressive. There were a great many things going on at once. Birds and beasts seemed to flow through, letters and packages in their possession. Machines that ran on magic littered the entire lobby. Tv screens were everywhere, playing things from random shows or the magic towers ads. There were little checkpoint looking things, which had little dials. He had no clue what their purpose was. There were posts and magic circles on the walls and floors. Odd globes floated around in the air. The entire floor was massive, much larger than the small exterior suggested. He had heard about it''s space distortions and manipulation, but it was still incredible. Chapter 3: Grandma Sparkles Chapter 3: Grandma Sparkles ¡°Yukio, this way.¡± Mom said. She led them to an elevator. The doors shut and she pressed a button. A rather fancy button, at that. [Confirmed. Authorized user recognized. Welcome back, madame Akane.] A computerized voice said. [Second user detected. Scanning¡.New guest detected. Welcome to the magic tower. Enjoy your stay, Master Yukio.] The voice said. The doors opened. It was a beautiful house, massive and modern. ¡°What is this?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°It¡¯s a magic elevator. This is weird to say, but technically each of the floors in the tower of magic are in their own dimension. So, this is our house. This is our new home, where we will be staying from now on. Beautiful right? I never thought I would be living with someone here. I never thought of having a family to live with me. So there¡¯s only one bedroom that¡¯s super decorated the way I like it. Sorry.¡± Mom said. ¡°That¡¯s how it¡¯s always been.¡± Yukio said. ¡°No, there was that time when we slept apart from each other in that inn that one time. I also figured you would have wanted your own room.¡± Mom said. ¡°I¡¯m fine, there¡¯s an entire house I can hang out in. I only need to use the bed to sleep, so it¡¯s fine. Plus I¡¯m just used to it. It¡¯s not like I can help you if I¡¯m in another room. I mean, what if something happens to you? I wouldn¡¯t know. It happened at the inn. I don¡¯t really want it to happen again.¡± Yukio said. ¡°That was not something bad that happened. I just got a little drunk and passed out. I guess not sleeping in the same room was stressing me out, though.¡± Mom said. ¡°See! That! You drank until you passed out, and I worried until morning. You ramble when you¡¯re drunk, so I heard you all night. So what if there¡¯s only a single bed. It¡¯s fine. Let things be like they always have.¡± Yukio said. ¡°Yes, yes, Yukio. You''re right.¡± Mom said. ¡°Mom, do I have a grandmother? You¡¯re the daughter of the tower master, right? That means the tower master is my grandma, right?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Eh? Oh, yeah. She¡¯s probably going to come over here as soon as she finds ou-¡° mom started. There was a puff of smoke in front of them. ¡°You blasted IDIOT!! It¡¯s been 15 YEARS! How long do you think that is? Is it nothing because we live forever? No! I still worried about you for a damn long time! And-huh? Who¡¯s this young little boy?¡± Yelled a girl, around the age of 19, who popped out of midair. She had the same hair color as them. She was wearing a pink jacket, blue one piece dress, white sneakers with pink bows on them, and a necklace with a bunch of ornaments on it. Her wrist had colorful bracelets on it. On her finger she had some rings, most of them were flashy, one was a single band of solid gold, though. Her eyes pulsed the colors of the rainbow, her mana blanketing the entire area like a cool breeze on a sunny day. She reminded Yukio of cotton candy and sweets. She floated in front of them. ¡°Akane? Hello? Who is this young boy? Did you kidnap him and bring him here? Is he your type?¡± The girl asked. ¡°Oh. No, I didn¡¯t. And yes, he is exactly my type.¡± Mom said joyfully. ¡°Mom! That¡¯s not it. This is my mother, it¡¯s nice to meet you¡.¡± Yukio said, blushing slightly. ¡°Akari. I¡¯m Akari¡.. wait¡. did you call her mom?¡± Akari asked. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. She froze, turning to stone. ¡°Uh. Yes, I did. Why? Is that bad?¡± Yukio asked, slightly nervous. ¡°Never in a million years is that bad!¡± Mom yelled. ¡°Thank you, mom.¡± Yukio said, smiling, the nervousness fading away. ¡°Akane¡.you had a kid? What the heck is wrong with you! I didn¡¯t even know he existed! How am I supposed to make up for the birthdays, Christmas, and any other kind of gifts! I didn¡¯t get to see him at all! I didn¡¯t even get to see him grow up! Do you at least have photos?!¡± Akari yelled, hurt. ¡°Jeez. Yes. I don¡¯t get why you seem so upset.¡± Akane said. ¡°You don¡¯t GET it?!?! He doesn¡¯t even know his own grandmother!! I never got to watch MY OWN grandson grow up at all!!! At least tell ME about it!!!¡± Akari yelled. ¡°Wait, grandson? You can¡¯t be older than 20.¡± Yukio said. ¡°And he doesn¡¯t even know that?!?!?! Akane, what have you been teaching this poor kid?! Wait¡. holy shit. He has a core. No wonder. And the category, too!¡± Akari whistled. ¡°Yeah, I wanted to ask what it was.¡± Akane said. ¡°Hey, wait! I got off track! You didn¡¯t even tell him that our family sometimes stops aging at around 19? He doesn¡¯t even seem to question the fact that his own mother still only looks to be 20! Where the hell did you live? What the heck happened?!?!¡± Akari asked. ¡°Wait¡ what?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Huh? Ah! Oh, dear. You must be really confused. Uhhh. Under normal circumstances you would have gone through the family''s traditions, and trained under us, as well as studied our rich history. Those things are the answer to your question. And you have 15 years worth of catching up to do on that. I¡¯ll put it simply. Me, Akane, and you. We¡¯re all immortal. Normally, Akane''s kids wouldn¡¯t be, but it¡¯s technically a regressive trait, so it¡¯s present in you by sheer luck.¡± Akari said. ¡°Wait, immortal? I¡¯m immortal?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Hmm...yes, I believe so. You won¡¯t age. But as to the other type, the extent to which your immortality can prevent you from being injured changes for everyone, it''s a little bit unclear even for me. It could heal, it could make you nearly indestructible, it could cause all attacks to phase through you, it could reverse time, it could reflect every attack back at whoever attacked you, it could absorb the attacks, turning it into mana, or it could be one of those in a much lower quality. That or none at all. The most common one is healing. Most people would have a medium level healing power. There¡¯s some who have multiple. Oh, most of the people who have a unique power also have a low rank healing power, too, at the very least.¡± Akari said. ¡°What? You two are immortal? Then, do you guys also have those unique powers?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Dang, you really told the boy nothing.¡± Akari said. She sat there, shaking her head. ¡°Either way, yeah. Your mother has her own very unique type. As for me, I have multiple. I have the healing, highest grade. Then there''s toggle indestructibility, assimilate, resound, and more that I can''t really remember.¡± Akari said. ¡°None of those match the others you just said.¡± Yukio said, confused. ¡°Oh. Healing, I heal from any injury. Blow my body to bits and I¡¯ll slowly heal back together. As for toggle indestructibility, it¡¯s like it sounds. I make my body indestructible if I want to. Assimilate absorbs attacks. If I want to be more specific, for example, you throw a knife at me. It gets stuck in my gut. If I activate assimilate, it will take the weapon and reverse time, freezing it and sending a duplicate attack at the enemy, and healing me. If it¡¯s not a weapon, then mana, if not that then literally just sheer force itself blows them up. As for resound, if I get hit, it causes it to completely disperse all of the force, damage, etc and bounce it off of walls to gain momentum and force. The more walls and objects around the stronger it becomes, but it¡¯s always at least going to hit them as hard as they tried to hit me. I can also set up deflector walls with resound that have the same effect if you hit them, as you would if you hit my body. Stuff like that. You get it?¡± Akari asked. ¡°Uh¡ I think so. What do I have?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Hm. Immortality is different from normal mana. It¡¯s a side effect from one of Evan''s experiments. Well, not a side effect, rather, what he called a cool bonus. So it probably wasn¡¯t an accident. Either way, the powers get passed down through a set of regressive genes. Meaning it¡¯s incredibly rare, even for people with immortality, but totally possible for a person with our blood to carry such powers. I dunno, pretty cool in my opinion, but I prefer magic. Though I did fuse both of them. That¡¯s why the absorption I was talking about exists. Ah whatever, enough about me and Evan''s experiments. To answer you, I have no idea.¡± Akari said. She rambles like the god does. ¡°I do not!¡± Akari said to the air. ¡°Damn you-! Ah, right. No, not you two. Ignore that ok?¡± Akari asked. ¡°O¡.Kay?¡± Yukio said. ¡°Hey, mom, my little Yukio is probably tired. I¡¯ll take him to bed for tonight. We can talk tomorrow.¡± Mom said. ¡°There¡¯s only one bed here, where will you sleep?¡± Akari asked. ¡°With Yukio. Like always.¡± Mom said. ¡°Oh dear. Huh. Uhhhh. No, even you aren¡¯t that dumb, right?¡± Akari asked. ¡°Mother?¡± Mom asked. ¡°Ah! Uh, nothing, Nevermind. Just don¡¯t do anything stupid.¡± Akari said. ¡°I won¡¯t? What?¡± Mom asked. ¡°Well, I¡¯ll see you tomorrow, bye Akane.¡± Akari said, leaving through the elevator like a normal person. ¡°Bye, mother.¡± Mom said. Chapter 4: Mother And Son Chapter 4: Mother And Son Morning came. Yukio opened his eyes. Floating above him was Akari, her face close to his, studying him. ¡°Hmm. I see. So I wasn¡¯t wrong. It manipulates two kinds of mana. Interesting. It¡¯s almost like my core, just a lot weaker. But it seems to split the mana like light through a prism. I think this core could be both a blessing and a curse. You don¡¯t have a father, either. That¡¯s incredibly peculiar. I have to ask Akane about that. So that means you¡¯re a pure blooded Suzuki. No outside blood mixed in. I guess it¡¯s a good thing, you fit the requirements to become a member of the main family... I definitely have to enroll you in the academy. But I think I may have been right about my worries from when I left last night. This reminds me of Evan. Isn¡¯t he doing something weird right now? He got all excited about the Ark project. And ran off. I guess he reincarnated, technically. Still, I think him and lime are twins now. What¡¯s up with this? Nevermind, that¡¯s you and Akane''s business. Hmm. Your hair. Crap.... I¡¯ll just dye it later. The world would eat news like you up, since our hair is pretty unique to our family. This pink red hair basically means you¡¯re royalty. Ruling a country is hard. Well, I guess I did shove it onto Akane. Is that why she ran off? Hm. Oh well. Ah. How long have you been awake for? Sorry. And good morning, Yukio.¡± Akari rambled, almost exactly like the god, smiling. ¡°I am NOT like Evan!!! For the last goddamn time, you stupid voice! I¡¯ll hit you!¡± Akari said, yelling. Ha. Bring it. ¡°Mother? Good morning.¡± Akane said. ¡°Akane, I''d like to discuss enrolling Yukio into the academy.¡± Akari said. ¡°Fine.¡± Akane said, falling asleep again. ¡°Still not a morning person, I see.¡± Akari said. ¡°Grandma, you said something about enrolling me in the academy?¡± Yukio asked excitedly. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it. ¡°Hm? Ah. Yeah, I¡¯m leaving that up to Akane though. Hey, Akane, I have a small question.¡± Akari said. ¡°Mhmm?¡± Akane asked, rolling over to face her. Then rolling back towards Yukio. ¡°Well, are you guys like this all the time? It¡¯s kinda concerning.¡± Akari said. ¡°Yeah. Yukio is cute.¡± Akane mumbled. ¡°That isn¡¯t what I asked¡. Yukio, does she basically just use you as a giant pillow?¡± Akari asked. ¡°Yeah. We both do, kinda. It¡¯s comfy.¡± Yukio said. ¡°Mhmm. So, another question. Why?¡± Akari asked. ¡°I never really thought about that. We always fall asleep like this. Our village is kinda small, so we shared a bed. At this point it feels weird to not do it¡. I do admit that from a normal person''s perspective, this is rather odd. I try not to think about it. I¡¯m pretty sure mom''s the same on every part, except the last two......I have a question. You don¡¯t seem anything like mom. Why isn¡¯t mom smart, if you¡¯re such a genius?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Hm. Well, she takes after her father in the personality department. She¡¯s¡. simple minded, so to speak. Once she gets attached, that¡¯s it. It¡¯s that easy. Just keep sticking to it, no matter what. Through heaven or hell. Through thick and thin. Don¡¯t think. Just hold on. That¡¯s pretty much it. My Haruto wasn¡¯t quite as simple minded as her, though. She¡¯s a bit extreme, and she inherited a small part of her fathers¡¯ personality quirks. And a few things from Lime. There¡¯s two of her. One loves you. The other loves you more. Does she ever seem to just pause and get really clingy?¡± Akari asked. ¡°Yeah. She does.¡± Yukio said, thinking. ¡°Well¡. it¡¯s because of her personality. I guess to her, it¡¯s more like an uncontrollable urge rather than another person, though. Honestly, I have no idea what the limits to it are. I¡¯ve seen it in others before. Rare, but I have. Except¡.¡± Akari trailed off. ¡°Is there something wrong?¡± Yukio asked. ¡°Ummm. Yes and no. It¡¯s gone past the point of no return. Eventually, she¡¯ll just listen and do anything you say. Or worse.....¡± Akari said. ¡°I already will.¡± Akane said. ¡°Go back to sleep, mom. You can rest for a little while longer.¡± Yukio said. ¡°Fine. Wake me up for breakfast, then.¡± Akane yawned, going back to sleep. "Yes, I''ll wake you up when it''s ready, mom. Grandma, are you staying for breakfast? You look worried. Whats wrong?" Yukio asked. ¡°I''m just a slight bit worried. That¡¯s not normal. No matter how much I think about it. It''s going to take work to fix this. At this rate her life may...¡± Akari mumbled. ¡°What?¡± Yukio asked. "Nothing. Anyway, we''re going to discuss enrolling you in the academy after breakfast." Akari said. Yukio agreed enthusiastically. "Then I''ll go make the food." Yukio said. Yukio hurried off to the kitchen.
