《Her Secret》 Introduction Siena Blackman''s POV Another peaceful and sunny day, taking a walk to the local nature reserve, before work, that I so dearly love, I find my usual spot under a large oak tree, sitting with my back against the trunk, that has just enough shade to keep me cool in the warmth of the summer sun. Taking out my sketch book I wonder to myself if I will ever find people that will accept me for who I am and not what the world has labelled me... A rogue. Not by choice but by force from those who I once thought loved me. Turning the pages of my sketch book, looking through old drawings, I find a fresh page to draw a beautiful woman looking to the sky for answers. Placing pencil to paper I begin to bring the image to life, after I while I find myself mimicking the image I have delicately brought to life, and lowering my pencil to the page as I look to the fluffy and enticing clouds for guidance and comfort. Will I ever be accepted again like I was when I was a small child filled with hope and dreams of being part of a well rounded pack of werewolves? I shake my head at the thought and sigh as I let my pale skin and dark hair absorb the rising heat of the sun''s rays, closing my eyes and smiling at the low pur my inner wolf is making resonate through my chest. She and I are at peace when we are outside in the fresh air surrounded by the pure beauty of nature. After what felt like no time at all I open my eyes to find my sketch book had fallen on the floor, pages to the ground, pencil almost camouflaged in the grass and my eyes feeling heavy with sleep. Just great I thought, I hope I''m not late for work! I hurriedly grab everything off the floor and make a run for my work place. Dashing past people with their dogs walking at a leisurely pace, children playing and couples out for a romantic stroll in each other company. I catch myself smiling as I pass by every single one of them. My boss will not like that I''m possibly late but he and i will just have to deal with it, besides the bar will be busy before I even set foot in there at 6pm. I get to the bar and head inside, going to my locker in the staff room to place my book in there. Damn it, I left my pencil behind. I huff in annoyance and carry on getting things in my locker before I grab my phone and check the time. Perfect! Only 2 minutes late to my shift! After what felt like a full 24 hour shift, of my boss drowning me in half a million complaints of me being late and not doing my job properly, I help him close the bar for the night. Once we finish I grab everything from my locker and leave my boss to lock the doors. "Do not be late next time Siena, this is your last chance!" I hear him say as I walk through the seating area. "Okay okay, I''m sorry..." I say as I open the door to leave. I start walking home and hear the bar doors being locked up and a car start up, I pull my phone out and check the time. It''s only 1am, so I decide to take a slow walk home instead of hurrying. Besides I dont have another shift until six again anyway so I can sleep in as long as I want.Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. The moon illuminates the almost empty streets, apart from a few drunk people here and there stumbling about and shouting nonsense at each other. I keep walking and enjoy the company of the full moon, my senses being heightened and feeling on top of the world. I reach the end of my street and notice my neighbourhood is eerily quiet for a Saturday night, normally the street is filled with people causing trouble or just having a laugh or even a few people walking to and from playing es alone. I grab my keys from my back pocket and walk to my apartment complex thinking nothing of it. I get to my apartment complex door and hear a deep howl in the distance, much to my surprise it was soothing to hear it for once. Normally I recoil when I hear the nightly howls. I return to my apartment and lock the door behind me before throwing my keys onto the kitchen counter and placing my sketch book on my desk. I throw my tired body on the couch and decide to check my phone for notifications but as always, nothing. I throw my phone on the couch beside me and lean my head back, falling asleep before I get the chance to even think of anything. - After a few more similar and mundane days I find myself at home, pacing through my apartment, on a day off of work getting restless at home. All I''ve thought about all day is why I was made a rogue, why me? Why couldnt they have waited another month until I morphed for the first time? They waited for others in the pack, but not me... God it is so frustrating! I sigh and grab my keys and decide to just go for a walk to the local shop and then to the nature reserve. I get to the shop and buy a small can of soda and a pack of cigarettes considering I ran out a few hours ago. I light one as I start to walk to the reserve admiring the flame of the lighter and the smoke emitting from the end of the cigarette. I explore part of the reserve I hadn''t been in yet finding a half destroyed stone wall surrounded in daffodils and decide to delicately place myself on the wall, being careful as to not step on any of the flowers. The sun slowly starting to set on the horizon I sit and wonder if my old pack even remembers me as it''s been almost two years since they made me a rogue. Recently I have been thinking of them more and more as time goes by. I don''t miss them, not at all, but I just wonder if things could have been different. I suddenly feel my inner wolf perk up and it puts me on high alert as she has been pretty dormant the past few months, considering I can not risk morphing with so many of the local pack members being dotted around the town, watching for rogues stepping out of line I have to keep a low profile. I''ve hid my wolf form since I moved here because the pack here thinks I''m just a human who moved here of my own accord, if they knew otherwise I would be kept an eye on and I am happy being alone for now. Even if I get a little depressed at times, I''ve had time to learn about myself and be as close to a normal human I can get. My head instantly hones in on the position of where a noise of a branch snapping, under the pressure of what I can only assume a foot of some sort, my eyes scanning the area as my wolf senses kick in. I notice it''s not a person but an animal. Lowering my gaurd the slightest amount, I hope it''s a dear or fox but before I can even react I''m swept off the wall. Hitting the ground with force and being pinned down by a large wolf with matted fur, blood dripping from its mouth and an unbearably unpleasant scent of rogue I pull my head to the side but keep my eyes locked with theirs. I try to kick my way out from underneath it but it just puts more pressure on my body causing me to scream in pain as my hip pops out of place and other bones crack like glow sticks. The last thing I see is the wolf leaning it''s head back with teeth on show, staring into my eyes with the intent to kill before it lurches foward, wanting to grab my neck and kill me but I pass out from the pain my hip is causing me not knowing if I''m even going to survive. Recovering Siena''s POV I feel like I''ve been hit by a freight train, hauling fifty carriages, filled purely with metal. My ears are ringing and I don''t even have the energy to open my eyes so I just listen. At first, the place I''m in sounds quiet enough that I can almost hear my bones slowly healing, normally I would of healed by now no matter the damage but I must of been messed up for it to still hurt and not be fully healed. I have no idea how long it''s been but I hear faint footsteps coming from outside the room I am in. God I wish I could just open my eyes to see where I am. I hear a door open and it seems that there is a couple of people now in the room, I assume one stands by the door as I only hear one set of feet move to the other side of me fiddling with something plastic. I move my head to the side and hear the person gasp as I move, they then promptly start talking to me as the other person moves closer to me emitting a feeling of safety. "You''re awake!? You gave me a fright, can you open your eyes or are you still too tired?" A soft womens voice asks me as I let a small smile form on my face. I once again try to open my eyes but only manage to open them enough to barely see through my eyelashes. I see a small blonde woman standing by me wearing pale blue scrubs, she is smiling but you can see she feels sympathy for my state of being. "Can I... get a drink...?" I force out with a very broken voice and an extremely strong burning feeling in my throat, she nods and presses a button to lift the bed into an upright position at a slow pace, I follow her with my eyes. As she goes to the other side of the bed, I flinch away at the sight of a large, intimidating male standing very tall a few feet from the bed. He jumps back himself but puts his hands up in the air to gesture that he is safe to be around, the blonde woman rushing back to my side with a plastic cup of water. "I know he scared you but no sudden movements, you''re still healing a few broken ribs..." she trails off and holds the cup in front of me patiently waiting for me to take it. I raise my hand as best I can with a dull pain running from my wrist to my shoulder, gently grabbing the cup and bringing it to my face. My hand trembled as I took a sip and I felt a tad bit better, my inner wolf weakly making my chest slightly rumble in satisfaction. I must be really dehydrated. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. "Don''t drink too fast, small sips will get you hydrated just as quick..." the blonde woman says as she starts taking needles out of me and wires away from my body and bed. I nod and keep sipping over the next few quiet minutes. Only the sound of her shuffling around until I''m finally able to open my eyes fully and I take in my surroundings. Blinking to get rid of the blurry vision. A small hospital like room... but I don''t hear any other hospital sounds now that I''m almost aware of everything. Then I look at the woman and the young looking man. Noticing that the man is in casual clothes. "Where am I?" I ask sheepishly, taking yet another sip before attempting to place the cup on the side but missing and it crashing to the floor. Flinching at the sound it makes as it hits the ground I feel an overwhelming feeling of safety, almost as if someone is trying to place a bubble around me, I shake it off and realise the male has sat down closer to me and the woman is now tidying up the mess I had made. "I''m so sorry..." I whisper as I put my head down letting my hair fall to cover my face. "Don''t worry doll, its expected to happen considering your current state... surprised you even survived..." a deeply soothing voice fills the room and it sends tears to my eyes realizing what had happened, to put me where I am now, being told these words. "We will take care of you until you are fit to leave for normal home life again, you are in the Trueblood Manor a few blocks away from your apartment, if you need anything let us know and we will send someone to get them for you." The woman says with a very sweet tone, I nod in response and start to relax back onto the bed again. God I hope I heal fast, this is not the place I should be in. Before I can think of anything else the mans voice cuts into the silence. "So you''re a rogue?" The man asks. I nod and move myself into a position that means I can force my body to get up so I can run. "You won''t be going anywhere, not because you''re a rogue but because you are injured more than you think you are. So relax and just let yourself heal, I don''t want a repeat of that nasty attack." He says with a touch of venom in the last words. The room stays quiet as I shift around to get comfy again still feeling slightly uncomfortable. "Can you morph or are you human?" He asks bluntly. Leaning forward, arms on his knees and chin resting on his hands. Looking at me like I''m a criminal of some kind. "Human..." I whisper hoping that while I was out cold that my scent hadn''t changed and become noticeable to them. "That would explain why you heal so slow!" The woman squeals, causing me to jump at her voice, she''s so quiet I forgot that she was even in the room. "Bella, can I have a private word with this young lady, you can return when I leave?" He asks with a hint of dominance. She nods and leaves the room making it even quieter than before, my heartbeat, breathing and ribs being the only thing audible to trained ears as they shift into place slowly healing. What on Gods green Earth could he possibly need to talk to me about privately? Does he know I''m able to morph? No Pain, No Gain Siena''s POV So the nurses name was Bella and she left me with this tall, intimidating young man that''s asking me questions one after another and now wishes to speak privately with me. I tense up as he leans further forward, his eyes looking at me for answers and figuring out who I am. Kinda cute with his dark brown hair falling in front of his forehead making his skin look paler than it actually is. "So why did another rogue attack you? Done anything you shouldn''t of? Both from the same pack?" He asks curiously, "I don''t know, I was just doing what I normally do, I don''t even speak to any rogues or any of this packs members..." I slowly start to lose my voice and he cautiously rises from his seat, I watch his every move as he returns from the other side of the room with another cup of water, gently moving his chair closer and holding the drink out to me. "Here, I don''t bite unless provoked..." he says with a cheesy grin, I lift up my hand to grab the cup and as I grasp the cup my thumb brushes past his and I try to hold back a fast movement away from him. "Whoa, easy there doll!" He says softly while gently holding my wrist letting me get a hold of the cup without dropping it. My face feels hot as the blood rises to my cheeks to form a blush, I pull the cup to my chest before speaking, "I''m sorry, I''ve never broken a bone in my body, only ever bruises and cuts..." I trail off to take a sip noticing the strain in my voice. "Well first time for everything and you made a record, you had three broken ribs, both wrists broken, one leg and one ankle broken as well as a few small fractures here and there along side the huge bruise on your neck. Very lucky your neck wasn''t broken to be completely honest with you..." he says with pain as he stops himself from what I assume to be getting furious. I realise my mouth had dropped open in shock at how many bones had been broken and then I drop my cup as a seering pain shoots through my ribs. I scream out in pain like a banshee while my ribs start to heal dramatically faster, my ears ringing and my body out of my control. All I know is that I want out of my human form but can do nothing about it. I feel a hand on each wrist as the ringing in my ears stops and the pain simmers down to a dull ache, my lungs burning and throat feeling swollen. Dear God I wish there were warning signs for this kind of stuff!Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. "You okay?" I hear both Bella the nurse and the man ask almost at the same time, I nod slowly and feel tears streaming down my face. "Can I sleep?" I ask almost choking on my words as my mouth and throat drys up. They look at each other and silently agree as Bella nods and speaks as they both release their grip on my wrists. "Miles will be by your side if you wake up and need anything, he will call me if anything is needed medical wise" she smiles and leaves quietly. I look at the man known as Miles and nod at him and he returns the movement with a pained smile on his face. I slowly let myself fall asleep to the sound of his steady breathing and rhythmic heart beat. - I open my eyes slowly and look over to Miles, he is fast asleep on the chair he was sat in before I went to sleep, he looks peaceful and I leave him to sleep as I stretch my limbs a little. Most of my aches and pains are now nothing but a dull feeling of uncomfortable pins and needles. I sit myself up slowly and find a cup of water on the bedside table, I hesitate before grabbing it gently and then taking sips every now and then, looking around more of the room. A window to my left with the small table, a few medical devices and another chair sat empty. In front of me is a small kitchen like area, with a sink, a few cupboards and a side to prepare medicines or drinks. To my right a door and Miles in the other chair still sleeping. I place my drink down carefully and quietly. I catch myself taking in all the details of him, his dark brown hair, chiseled face, slightly tanned skin, muscular build barely fitting in the small chair. I chuckle to myself thinking about it and accidentally wake him up in doing so. I instantly cover my mouth with my hand. "What has you giggling like a school girl missy?" He asks with a curious voice and a confused face. "Want a bigger seat?" I ask hiding behind my hair holding my blush back with my hand still over my mouth. "Oh I see." He says letting out a small laugh himself. I look at him and he stands up to stretch towering over me like a bear would a rabbit. He moves towards the bed, and gestures towards the bed. I nod and he sits on the bed at my feet, I curl my legs towards myself and give him more room to sit comfortably. "So you''re Miles?" I ask like a shy school girl. He nods and smiles before looking directly into my eyes searching mine for something unknown to me. His light grey and blue eyes burn into mine, the blue and grey swirling around and losing me in a sea of thought. "And you are...?" He asks snapping me out of my daze and back to reality. "Siena but you probably already knew that right?" I say with a hint of fear in my voice. "No actually, Bella refused to give out her patient''s information and I respected her wishes." He says slightly annoyed. I guess people tend to mistrust him a lot but I''m glad he waited for me to give him personal information. "Thank you..." I say quietly and bring the blanket over myself and hold on to it as if it will keep me safe. He looks at me with a raised eyebrow and studies my body language before asking his next question.
