《How to Run a Demon World: Lesson 101》 Chapter 1: An Accountant Was Summoned to The Demon World "Haah... Haah... Your royal highness, we did it! The summoning went without a hitch!" A lesser demon fox declared proudly to her liege. The beads of sweat that broke out on her brows indicated the strenuous ritual that she and the royal mage council had performed. Failure was not an option for them as the entire fate of the principality was resting on them. The situation of the principality had been worsening by the minute, it was running on fumes currently, nearing the verge of collapsing. As subjects of the princess, they had to stand out in times of needs. Having at their wit''s end, they decided to summon a hero to aid them under the Princess¡¯s order. They had thrown caution to the wind, and it was all or nothing now. The magic ritual wasn¡¯t exactly forbidden but they would have to pay a hefty price; it would find the most suitable person for the job to save the principality, somewhat similar to a head-hunter company. They had prepared and sacrificed too much for the hero summoning, thus, it was such a relief for the mages that the summoning was completed successfully. "Let''s hope that the hero is one capable of saving us." Princess Felix muttered under her breath, praying for the citizens in her principality while staring intensely at the summoning circle, waiting for the residual smoke to clear away. ******************************************** ''Am I dreaming?'' Shao Xuan thought as he rubbed his eyes desperately once he noticed that his surroundings had changed. He couldn''t believe his eyes when he realised a group of young ladies had their gaze fixated on him once the encompassing smoke dissipated. The group of young ladies were hooded in white with exquisite embroidery design sewn on their fabrics made of golden threads, forming a symbol of an eye at the front and the back of their hoods. The only peculiar aspect of the women were their animal ears attached to the top of their heads. Just a while earlier, Shao Xuan was just playing some generic Japanese money-grabbing mobile game, and topping up money for the gacha draw in a bid to summon the newly released SSS rank heroine to add to his squad. The little amount of play time on his mobile phone was the sole breather he could afford with his long hours, soul-crushing internship at the local accounting firm he was assigned to by his university. So, imagine his surprise to find himself surrounded by a group of beautiful and alluring young women so suddenly, staring at him with eyes filled to the brim with curiosities. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. ''Is this a prank? They are cosplayers, right?'' Shao Xuan thought to himself as he looked around trying to find the hidden cameras. It was impossible that pretty ladies would be interested in him, let alone so many of them. It would be terrible if his stupid reactions were to be televised on national TV. However, he subsequently threw the hypothesis out the window. No matter how good the television crew was, there was no way they could transport him into a room complete with a magnificent looking throne and other expensive ornaments in a blink of an eye. ''T¡ªThis is like those kinds of novels, right?'' Shao Xuan mumbled while his mind went vacant. As an orphan that lived his whole life in a god-awful orphanage, Shao Xuan had an acute ability of observation skills as that could mean the difference between going hungry or having enough food to barely stay alive. As such, as unbelievable as the scenario was to the extremely sceptical accountant intern, Shao Xuan was forced to acknowledge the fact that he''d indeed transmigrated to another world. "O great hero that had hailed from the beyond. I implore you to hear my desperate pleas." Princess Felix walked forward to Shao Xuan, her face looking grim as the distance between them closes. "Your highness!" "Your royal highness!" "Your highness, please stay back! We do not know if he''s dangerous or not!" Cries from the attendants resounded throughout the throne room. They couldn''t afford to allow the princess to suffer any harm to her. If misfortunate was to befall onto their princess, their heads would roll and their bodies would be hung up in the town square the first thing in the morning tomorrow. "Silence!" Felix shouted at a deafening volume before apologising to her faithful retainers. "Please¡ let me do this¡ he is our last hope." Under the blank stare of Shao Xuan, the princess approached him gradually before cupping his hands into hers. "O hero, I am princess Felix of the demon race. I know it''s boisterous of me to ask this of you, but I beg of you! Please save this town from self-destruction!" The young princess choked with teary eyes. She was wearing a pinkish white lace dress with a big red ribbon tied around her just below her breasts. Her innocent and adorable look coupled with her long brown hair that cascaded down her shoulders could make anyone infuriated with her. "The people of this land are suffering greatly! The conflicts between the demons and humans have escalated past the breaking point. Every day, there are deaths and looting. The royal guards have their hands full with them as well. Please¡ will you help us? As long as you''re able to solve the conflict, I¡¯ll grant you anything that you desire." The adolescent princess begged earnestly Shao Xuan whilst holding his hands. "I don''t wanna." replied Shao Xuan. An accountant is always prudent in nature; hence, he rejected her offer as he had no obligation to help, not when he had absolutely no information on the current situation. What if she asks him to sacrifice himself for the greater good? As an orphan that had seen his fair share of humanity''s cruelty and heartlessness, he had always believed in the phrase - ''it''s a dog eat dog society''. "Why?" Perplexed, the princess blurted out. She''d envisioned their meeting before the summoning. She rehearsed multiple times on what to say to the hero, purposely choosing the throne room to conduct the summoning, where she and her subordinates could present their best sides to him. ¡®Just exactly what kind of world did the hero originate from? Isn¡¯t a hero supposed to save a princess? Why aren''t you following the script? Hey!¡¯ Despite having mentally berating the hero internally several times, Felix did not show any kind of emotion on her face. Maintaining her calm, she tried to engage with Shao Xuan who was blanking out, but her tense and fake looking smile seems to have betrayed her inner thoughts. Before she could attempt to persuade Shao Xuan, the door to the throne room slammed opened. "Princess Felix! How dare you!" Chapter 2: Clash with the Lion ¡°Princess Felix, how dare you?¡± An angry voice boomed. It was so loud that it was piercing the eardrums of all those that were present in the throne room. Everyone, including Shao Xuan cupped their hands on their ears because of the massive discomfort that they were experiencing from the noise. After the door to the throne room was slammed wide open, a rank of heavily armoured soldiers totalling to around thirty, marched right into the room in unison with heavy footsteps. Leading in front of the soldiers was a brute looking beast man, he had a tall statue and the features of a ferocious lion. Wearing a golden armour, he approached the princess at a steadily fast speed with a cold expression on his face. His speed was unbelievably quick considering the weight of his armour. ¡°W¡ªWait¡¡± Sensing his animosity, the lesser demon fox tried to block his path to the princess, but she was ultimately ordered to stand down by Felix. ¡°Did you just order the royal mage council to perform a useless summoning ritual at the expense of mages? Don¡¯t you know that the mages¡¯ magic power will remain stagnant and even relegate by one or more tiers as backlash? Are you trying to get this border town destroyed by reducing the military might of our mages when we are at war with the humans, you traitor?¡± The lion beast man bellowed whilst pointing his finger at the princess, accusing her of being a treacherous traitor right from the start. ¡°N¡ªNo, I¡¡± Princess Felix opened her mouth and wanted to rebut his accusations, but the lion beast man continued to speak, leaving her with no opportunity to defend herself. ¡°You requested for the King to appoint you to the frontline as governor of this border town. Yet, instead of killing those human scums, you spared their lives and even allowed those imbecile human refugees inside the town along with their young and old. And now, the hero you have summoned is this puny looking human who is wearing such weird clothes? What? Do you think that he will be able to save this town from the failure that you have caused?! This is so ridiculous that it¡¯s so funny. Are you trying to make me die of laughter?¡± The lion beast man mocked the princess, making his men burst out into a round of rowdy laughter. As soldiers working under the royal family, they had no respect for the princess. Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings. ¡°¡¡± ¡°¡¡± The young female mages and the princess sulked in silence and hung their heads down, clenching their fists. There was truth in what the beast man had said. Ever since they arrived from the capital to take over the governance of the town, the situation of the town had deteriorated from bad to worse. They had truly messed up. ¡°Pfft! Hah! What a bunch of clowns! Have you no shame bullying a bunch of young girls?¡± Shao Xuan laughed out loud while holding his tummy. His arrogant laughter seemed to have escalated the tension in the throne room. ¡°What did you say, human? Who are you calling a clown? I dare you to laugh again.¡± The soldiers¡¯ laughter ceased immediately as the lion beast man shouted. Veins were bulging out all over his face and arms, and his eyes slowly turned into a crimson red, revealing his intense bloodlust. One could tell that he was about to erupt. His ferocious stare would make anyone tremble in fear. But not Shao Xuan. ¡°H ¡ªA ¡ªH! ¡±As though he was a fool courting his death, Shao Xuan enunciated the syllabus one by one as slowly and clearly as he could. ¡°Human, you dare?!¡± With a stomp of his feet, the lion beast man sprinted into action. In a flash, he¡¯d closed the distance between him and Shao Xuan. Shao Xuan cursed under his breath when he saw the beast man charging towards him with his flashy armour in a blink of an eye. He could barely see his figure charging towards him with his claws out, and his body was unable to react in time to dodge his attack. "Die you fool!" Clang! With the sound of metal clashing, the lion beast man¡¯s assault was stopped abruptly. The princess'' rapier had been drawn, stopping the metal claws from reaching any closer to Shao Xuan¡¯s face. There was barely an inch apart between Shao Xuan¡¯s head and his claws. "Captain Shi Zi, stand down." The princess ordered in a stern voice. Despite her slim figure, the princess unexpectedly held her ground against the lion beast man. "Princess Felix, you should be the one that should step aside. Let me kill this rude bastard! Why are you defending a human? An incompetent and spoiled princess like you should have never interfered with this country affairs.¡± ¡°Are you attempting treason?! Why are you attacking the princess?! Everyone here, you are bearing witness to an assassination! What are you standing there for?! Protect the princess!¡± Shao Xuan shouted at the top of his lung, he needed to take control of the situation quickly and protect the princess from harm, especially with his life on the line. A split second was enough for Shao Xuan to discern the situation he was facing. Through the bits and pieces of their conversation, or rather a one-sided accusation, he had captured all the crucial information that was needed. Human refugees; war; border town; governor. All of these keywords pointed out that human wasn¡¯t welcomed here. And as a human himself, he was in a precarious position as well. The princess held a pro-human view while the lion beast man was the opposite. Although he had no information on the identity of the lion beast man, Shao Xuan could deduce that he must be holding a high position based on his tone and the surrounding subordinates'' reactions. After watching the situation unfolds, Shao Xuan decided to force the lion beast man¡¯s hand by humiliating and agitating him. Although that would endanger his own life, it would also force the princess to commit to a firm decision as well, seeing her weak stance against the lion beast man. As members of the royalty, they needed to maintain their dignity and firm grip on their subjects. Shao Xuan had no qualms about leaving his original world behind and starting a new life in another world. As an orphan his whole life, he had no emotional attachment to anyone back on Earth. He wanted to travel around the new world and see the world out there, having spent his whole life struggling to survive. He wanted to be free. But it was not meant to be. The situation did not allow him to do so. If he knew that there was a war breaking out, he would never have rejected the princess¡¯s offer. Furthermore, immediately after getting summoned, he tried to bring up the status screen that all the other novels back on Earth mentioned about, but nothing had happened. ¡®What this? Where¡¯s my status screen? Where¡¯s my cheat? Those novels lied to me!¡¯ Chapter 3: Dire Situation Initially, Shao Xuan had considered the possibility of the lion beast man and the princess putting on an act as the timing of their appearance was too much of a coincidence. However, after the close encounter with death, Shao Xuan had dispelled that notion. ¡°What are you blabbering about? You¡¯re the one that I wanted to kill, not the princess!¡± The lion beast man said panickily. What Shao Xuan had said was a serious crime; one that would get their nine generations of families beheaded. Furthermore, from his peripheral vision, he could see his men hesitating to draw their swords against him and the princess''s mages already in the midst of casting their spells. ¡°Have you no respect for the princess? Killing me is the same as slapping the princess in the face! I am the hope of the town! Are you trying to ruin the princess¡¯s plan from the get-go? Everyone attack this traitor at the count of three!¡± ¡°Y ¡ªYou! Tch! Count your lucky stars, human. You might want to watch your back. Do anything wrong, and I¡¯ll slain you personally. Men, let¡¯s go.¡± The lion beast man said hurriedly as he waved his hand, beckoning the soldiers to leave the throne room with him. Staying any longer in the room would be detrimental to him. There was no rush now, his plan was well in motion and there was no stopping it. Although it was aggravating, the princess was powerless to stop him from leaving. A while later, after all the soldiers had left the extravagant throne room, the rest of the young female mages and the princess finally had their tension released, breathing a sigh of relief. ¡°Princess Felix, you¡¯re hurt!¡± The lesser demon fox rushed over to the princess¡¯s side and held her right hand while expressing a concerned face. Blood was dripping down from the princess¡¯s purlicue, it was torn apart by the momentum of the beast man¡¯s claws during her clash with him. ¡°This is nothing compared to the suffering that people are experiencing.¡± Felix said coolly while stealing a glance at Shao Xuan. Unfortunately for her, Shao Xuan wouldn¡¯t fall for such cheap tricks. He ignored her pitiful looking eyes and her attempt at invoking his sympathy. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it. Seeing her attempt failed spectacularly, Princess Felix started to stare at him more blatantly. She believed that after seeing the bouts with Captain Shi Zi, Shao Xuan couldn¡¯t ignore her offer, especially when he had thoroughly offended him. They are partners in crime now. ¡°Jiiiiii¡¡± After being stared intensely by the princess for an indeterminable amount of time, Shao Xuan finally relented to her request. He agreed to help her temporarily, at least until the town was in a better shape. ¡°Let me be clear first, I have no special power or cheat. The only thing I have is my knowledge of accountancy. I guess I could help, but I''ll need more information about this town before I could attempt to solve its problems. So, first of all, give me a rundown on this place.¡± Shao Xuan yielded and said nonchalantly. ¡°We are at Greenwich, a border town located between the Demon territory, the Human and the Elves. The Demon race had been at war with the Human race for 20 years now while the elves mainly stayed within their territory. The demon''s race hatred for human runs deep. Although the town is situated at the frontlines, it is relatively peaceful compared to other places due to its lack of strategic value and the presence of the Elves.¡± Princess Felix gave a brief background introduction to Shao Xuan with a smile of relief. ¡°As for the person just now, that was Captain Shi Zi, the former governor in charge. He is now in charge of the security of the town.¡± ¡°Is he someone that can be used?¡± Shao Xuan asked the important question. If he was someone untrustworthy, he would need to get rid of him just like how he got rid of the orphanage headmaster in the past. ¡°No. The political climate and relationship is too complicated. He works for my elder sister and had ties with several nobles in the capital. Regardless, it is impossible to convert him to our side.¡± Princess Felix answered in a regretful tone. ¡°It¡¯s fine. We just have to make do with what we have in our hands.¡± Shao Xuan consoled her. Problem solving involves forward thinking, it¡¯s useless to dwell on the past. ¡°What are the resources that we can work with? Money? Connections? Support?¡± ¡°Money? Are you referring to gold nuggets? We only have 3 gold nuggets currently; we have spent most of it feeding and relocating the homeless and the poor. As for the rest, I¡¯m ashamed to say that we have none of them except the 10 mages that are under me.¡± The princess replied with her face flushed red with embarrassment. ¡°What does 1 gold nugget get you here?¡± Shao Xuan asked as he wanted to get a sense of the economy of Greenwich. ¡°Erm¡ you can get a moderate sized house in Greenwich or 10 slaves.¡± ¡°Understood. Alright, I need a guide to show me around the streets. I need to see the situation first-hand.¡± ******************************************** Shao Xuan sat down on a wooden chair with a grim expression on his face. In front of him was the supposedly lunch on the table. Sitting across the table was Princess Felix in a worn-out dress giving him a wry smile. The lunch that was served was just a bowl of porridge and a few thin slices of bacon. Though it may seem unfitting to treat a guest of the royalty so badly, Shao Xuan was understanding about it. The porridge was actually the best meal the princess could gather. What Princess Felix was having for dinner was much poorer. Meat was a luxury even to her now. The lavish throne room and the exquisite dress and hoods were all just a facade. Every personal belonging that belonged to the princess and her court mages had been sold off ages ago, to raise fund for the principality''s day-to-day operation. The pinkish white dress that she wore during the summoning was the only remaining dress that she kept. It was a memento of hers. She had done a lot for the people, they were all useless efforts that had done more harm than good. Chapter 4: Contract The situation was much worse than Shao Xuan had thought. It had been three days since he was summoned to Greenwich. He had walked around the town, scouting every nooks and corners while being accompanied by Hu Li, the lesser demon fox. During his observation, he had asked every enquiry that he had about the world as well. The native locals had no special name for the world they lived in, and it was to be expected. Their technology level was still in the dark ages. With famine and war constantly at the back of their head, who would have the time to think about such pointless things. The town was in a complete mess as well. It was a typical medieval town with a population of about three thousand. The people mostly consisting of human refugees were so impoverished that Shao Xuan saw several famished people, digging up roots and eating tree barks to fill up their stomachs at the outskirts of the town. The sight of it was hard to stomach as it reminded him of his past. Manure and wastes from both human and demons alike filled and stank up the streets. Walking around the town felt like navigating through a minefield for him. It wouldn''t surprise him if a plague was to be started from the horrible hygiene. The houses were mostly built from low quality material with mud roads connecting them while the town walls were weathered down badly, almost to the brink of collapsing. Infrastructure was non-existent except for the lavish manors owned by the nobles centred around the keep. The disparity between the nobles and the commoners was apparent in sight. During his three-days inspection, plenty of clashes between the demons and humans arose, leaving many of them injured or dead until the town guards broke them apart. If not for the sheer number of human refugees that were grouped together, the number of casualties would be even greater as the well-trained town guards would often side with the locals. What the princess did as a good deed had completely backfired. It had completely alienated the local demon population. The princess had asked for donations from the nobles in the form of monetary and grains, but all of them kept making excuses. As the flames of war kept burning, many nobles and their families left the principality towards the capital for safety, leaving only a few noble families left. It was not because of their bravery that they stayed; it was because their assets were tied down to Greenwich where the vast amount of farmlands belonged to them. The citizens mainly engaged in barter trade, while the nobles used force to obtain what they want from the citizens. With the city guards under the control of Captain Shi Zi, and the princess being a puppet, they could do whatever they want as long as they bribed Captain Shi Zi. Shao Xuan had asked Hu Li about the gold nuggets the princess had mentioned and gotten the answer that because the gold nuggets'' value was too high, it was only used in the demon capital or trade between nobles. Upon further questioning, Shao Xuan found that they had been purchasing grains from the nobles at an exorbitant price because of the monopoly the nobles had on the farms. Keeping all this information in mind, Shao Xuan looked straight into Princess Felix''s eyes and asked while repeatedly tapping his index finger on the table, "Princess, do you trust me?¡± Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. ¡°O Hero, you can address me as Felix. I assure you that you have my absolute trust.¡± Princess Felix replied with a sincere face. ¡°Well then. Princess Felix, why do you trust me so much?¡± Shao Xuan probed further. ¡°It¡¯s because I have the eyes of the royalty. It¡¯s a power that only manifest in those that possesses the royal bloodline. I can sort of see through one¡¯s heart and determine if they are a kind-hearted person or if they have an ulterior motive. I sense nothing but kindness from you, hero.¡± Felix replied after some hesitation, her pair of black mini wings extending from her back flapped as she revealed her "secret" to Shao Xuan. ¡°Princess¡ You do know that when you lie, your eyes have a habit of straying to the left side, right?¡± Shao Xuan gave an inexplicable smile. ¡°T ¡ªThat¡¯s impossible!¡± Princess Felix stood up in an agitated manner, slamming her hands on the dining table as she violently stood up from her chair. ¡°I lied. But judging from your reaction, you had lied as well. Now¡ princess, I hope that we¡¯ll be honest with each other seeing that we are in the same boat now. In fact, I''d already found out from Hu Li that you''d sent her to spy on me, and that she was ordered to kill me if she ever deems me as dangerous. Besides, if you really have such power, the principality wouldn¡¯t have fallen into such a state in the first place.¡± ¡°What? How can it be? She¡¯s been by my side since young, she won¡¯t ever betray me.¡± Princess Felix was flabbergasted. They had been together like real siblings since a young age. Hu Li was raised as her right-hand man by her father. There was no way she would ever betray her. Especially not to an unknown person. ¡°Alcohol is a miracle drug, my na?ve princess. One sip at the tavern, and she spewed out everything. You¡¯re smart, but not wise. Wisdom is required to rule a country, a useless leader like you will only be detrimental to its people. It won''t be long till you lead them to demise." Shao Xuan mocked the princess while squinting his eyes. "Here''s lesson number one as a ruler. Never use a doubtful person, and never doubt the person that you have decided to use. Now tell me¡ why would I help you when you have proven to be such a terrible ruler? And how can I trust you when my life is at the mercy of your whim?" Shao Xuan pursed his lips. He already had the solution to one of his questions from Hu Li''s drunken blabbering. But the question is, if the princess is a person worthy of his services. With tears nearly dripping down her cheeks, the princess desperately held back from crying and yelled, "I don''t know how to be a good ruler! I know I''m terrible at it! But one thing I''m sure of is that you definitely qualify, because you are the complete opposite of me. As long as you can save the people, I''ll grant you any wish! If you don''t trust me, you can definitely trust the vow!" The instant she finished her words, the princess slit her right palm and held her hand out. With crimson blood dripping down onto the floor, she spoke. "I''ll make the vow of slavery. Slit your palm and touched mine." "I Felix Von Trafalgar, hereby vows that the person in front of me to be the master of me. I''ll obey his every command without fail. My life belongs to him and it will end if his ever ends." "You learn fast, princess. And you have mastered the second lesson of being a ruler perfectly. It''s not the ruler''s job to solve the problems of its land. Their only job is to find capable people and delegate those tasks to them. I must say, you have successfully convinced me. However, I myself is an accountant. So, I would very much prefer a contract." Shao Xuan smiled as he approached the princess. Using the blade of the princess''s sword, he slit his palm as well, only to find that he had used too much force. Acting as if everything is fine despite the tremendous blood loss stating otherwise, he grabbed Felix''s hand and kneeled down on one knee whilst he kissed her hand. "I Shao Xuan, hereby accept Felix''s offer. I willingly enter a contract with the demon in front of me." With resoluteness in his eyes, he continued. "I shall give you the world in exchange for you giving yourself to me." At the end of Shao Xuan''s words, a magic circle containing runes appeared underneath both of them. With flashes of bright lights appearing from the circle, both of them could feel a special connection linked between them. "Now then¡ let''s get married, shall we?" Shao Xuan''s lips curved into a wicked smile once he got up from his kneeling position. Chapter 5: Legend Chapter 5: Legend "W¡ªWhat are you saying?! I''m not ready yet. What''s more, the entire principality is in a dire state, and you''re thinking of such a trivial thing?" Felix was angry about Shao Xuan''s irresponsible statement. Especially after she was touched by his vows earlier. "This is lesson number three with regards to being a good ruler - ''always give the people what they want, or at least the false pretence of it.'' People are suffering as we speak. They are in need of a hero to save them. Isn''t that why you have summoned me?" Shao Xuan explained. After a slight pause to ensure that Felix had fully digested his words, he continued. "However, what they want isn''t a hero. The thing that they truly and desperately want is hope. They are craving for it and they are starting to demand for it. That''s why, we have to give them hope now, Felix. To do that, we have to use advertising to create legends!" Shao Xuan smiled with his palms facing up and arms stretched out, like a mad scientist introducing his newest invention. "Advertising?" Felix''s tilted her head with question marks filling her mind, it was the first time she had heard such a word. *********************************************** "Extra! Extra! Shocking news everyone! Come and gather around me!" "I Gu Shi, the renowned storyteller of this town has a piece of shocking news to tell! Come and hear it before you regret it!¡± "Hey there, Da Shen from Waterloo street, stop walking away. Da Tie the blacksmith, come and listen, it won¡¯t take too much of your time!¡± A piercing voice resounded throughout the town square in the early morning, grabbing the attention of the citizens and passer-by. Many of them stopped in their tracks to hear what the storyteller had to say. Listening to the stories about the demons'' history from Gu Shi had always been their favourite source of entertainment. After quite some time, once he was surrounded by people, Gu Shi began to clear his throat and rehearsed the words that were taught to him by Shao Xuan. He had received a gold nugget for this work, and it was crucial that he does not mess this up.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. When he saw Hu Li had brought a bunch of human refugees to the town square and had stopped along the outer perimeter, he knew that it was his signal to start. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I¡¯m proud to tell you that the princess had summoned a human hero!¡± Gu Shi said loud voice using his diaphragm that he had trained in his work. That way, his voice could reach out far to everyone gathered in the square. "What?! A human? A human scum is the hero? Is this some sort of mistake?" "Hah! That human-loving princess have finally done it! I always knew she would betray us!" Clattering sounds from the demons instantly filled the town square. Emotions of anger and sadness were the majority that made up the noise. Sensing that the situation might go out of his control, Gu Shi began to reassure the gathered demons in a calming voice. "Have no fear, my fellow people! For the hero is a higher human that originates from another world. He is totally different from the humans that we fight! I¡¯ve met him personally, and had heard from him that in his world, higher humans love and worship demons and elves alike. Some of them would even give up their lives to wed us. Their love for us is so great that they would create shows about us. Some of them would even create pillows in our image to carry around!¡± "Wha¡ªWhat! Is this really true? Do higher humans really love us so much?" "What is show? And what is pillow? Does anyone know? Can anyone explain it to me?" "Does the females of their race like male demons? Is this finally my chance to find a wife?" "Furthermore, the hero had divulged to me that as a higher human, people in their world can obtain special job class, and his job class is an accountant! Can you imagine that? He told me that unlike the warriors, mages, and archers, an accountant can kill millions with just a swing of their weapon! What¡¯s fortunate for us is that he is willing to share the training method to the people of Greenwich. Anyone from any races can become a higher being!¡± Once Gu Shi announced the news, everyone on the square became visibly excited. The news had given them hope for the future. ¡°Last but not least, I¡¯m honour to announce that the hero and the princess have fallen in love at first sight! It was a fated destiny that was meant to be! I was honoured to be invited by the couple to witness the proposal. The hero knelt down in front of the princess and gave her a kiss on the hand, and he helped her wear a ring on her index finger! An engagement ceremony will be held a hundred days from now! And to celebrate the event, the princess had pardoned everyone with minor offences.¡± ¡°A proposal? How romantic! If someone did it to me, I¡¯ll definitely marry him!¡± ¡°Does that mean my darling can be release from the prison? Oh! Thank the hero!¡± The crowd immediately exploded into an optimistic discussion. Everyone¡¯s faces reflected happiness and joy. It didn¡¯t take long for the news to travel to everyone¡¯s ears. Soon, the bard in the tavern began singing the hero¡¯s praises. The town had revitalised. The look of the people¡¯s eyes had slowly changed. There was now hope in their eyes. ****************************************************************************************** ¡°And that¡¯s how advertising is done.¡± Shao Xuan explained to Felix. They were still in the dining room talking. ¡°I see¡ By telling the demons that humans could become higher human, and they could become an entirely different being, you have eliminated the grudges the demon and human have towards each other. And the engagement that you suggested is just an excuse to release those people that were locked up because of fighting in town.¡± Felix murmured to herself while deep in thought. ¡°Genius¡ you are simply a genius. By announcing that you and I are going to be married, the citizens will become more accepting to the human as well¡ thereby allowing them a chance to be integrated.¡± As her train of thought became clearer, Felix got gradually more depressed. She could have never thought of that. However, she raised her head all of a sudden, and said, ¡°But, your plan is just a plain lie to the people! You aren¡¯t capable of killing millions with your weapon. You can¡¯t even defend yourself against Captain Shi Zi!¡±
